Permanent, Devastating Corn Belt Drought Brings All Time Record Crop

USDA is now estimating total 2013 corn production at 13.8 billion bushels, which if realized, would result a new record for annual U.S. corn production

NOAA and their cohorts in crime make devastating  drought forecasts every year, and then never bother to follow up with them.

It must be all that CO2 boosting plant production. I’m expecting a huge greening of the world.

reminds me of “Oh Susana” “rained all night the day I left- the weather it was dry” should be USDA’s theme song.

  3. Don says:

How much of that will be wasted on either ethanol or HFCS, or cattle* for that matter? Keeping food prices high and no help for starving people.

*Grass fed is better for the cattle and the people.

This post is just corny. There clearly WAS a 3% reduction in estimated 2013 U.S. Soybean production!

Excuse me now while I go drive a Tesla down the highway … they’re perfectly safe … they never catch on fire.

I am always interested in the percentage grown that is for consumption, feed and industrial use.

There is equally terrible crop news from the Canadian ‘permanent drought’ prairies-

“The Prairie grain harvest is underway and farmers say 2013 will be an exceptional year. Bumper crops are being reported for canola, wheat, oats and barley. Some farmers are saying they have never seen such plentiful crop harvests as this year.

And even more bad news globally leads to even yet more bad news for Canadian wheat farmers-

“Worldwide wheat production has increased this year and 710 million tonnes of wheat is anticipated. This is bad news for Canadian supplies which will be released onto a bear market with prices likely to trend downwards.”

This is why the ‘Population Bomb’ completely bombed in its prediction of mass human starvation. Crop yields have been going up steadily for decades due to technological innovation with corn yield per acre doubling since 1968. Apparently the genius mind of Paul Ehrlich couldn’t see that happening.
