North Dakota had more than two hundred 40ºC readings in 1936, and none in 2012.
NOAA says that 2012 was the hottest and most extreme year ever in the US, based on the facts that they tamper with data and that there were many mild days and nights during the winter and spring.
It is normal to have variations around the globe. It is the global average that ends up being the final number people pay attention to. The so called little ice is a case in point. When you average in the whole globe, it was actually a warm period.
NOAA’s CEI is based on the lower 48 US states, but thanks for the completely pointless comment
So what was the point of the ND 36 data? It seemed like another anecodote to distract from the most current long term data.
Your theme of climate scientist acting like politicians is interesting. Reading the AR5 is an insight for me on how scientist think. They are the most careful, sober, conservative people around. They are always atuned to new information to improve their understanding. One discipline respects that another discipline is the authority on a particular subject. One scientist will not pontificate with her/his speciality over another speciality. That is the beauty of the IPCC. They are hundreds of scientist of all the different climate science specialities that sumarize the thousands of papers to help us understand the state of the science. The AR5 is excrusciatingly careful with its presentation. Your disinformation campaign as though these scientist were cheap politicians does a disservice to the truth that we all need.

Michael Mann is the biggest cheap politician of them all.

Since when is presenting a fact disinformation? 1936 is s very convincing fact that blows a huge hole in the notion of catastrophic warming. Most records during the summer of 1936 have not been remotely approached in the US and southern Canada during recent years. Same with 1934. Same with literally thousands of facts that have been presented on this site.
Your science is so 2002, Michael Mannish.
