September 17, 2007Climate models had projected the passage would eventually open as warming temperatures melted the Arctic sea ice—but no one had predicted it would happen this soon.
“We’re probably 30 years ahead of schedule in terms of the loss of the Arctic sea ice,” said Mark Serreze, a senior scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado.
The Northwest Passage was open 110 years ago.
It isn’t going to be open this year, as it is clogged with multi-year ice. According to Hansen, Amundsen navigated the Northwest passage during the coldest years on record.
Panic, panic your graph shows massive heating…
Agggghhhhhhh…
1°C in a hundred years, agggghhh!
Science doesn’t pay as well as “science” does.

That is “Psycience” to distinguish it from true science. Or you can always use the politically Corect term “Post-normal Science”
Arrgh, hit post too soon. Corect = Correct. (I can not spell worth a darn thanks to Progressive education.)
They didn’t have huge icebreakers to help them either.
Wasn’t it originally named the Northwest Passage because, like, it’s a passage?
It was named long before it was discovered or successfully navigated (by Europeans, at least).
Just as real as the Gold Brick Road.
