I was down in DC today, and had the pleasure of talking to a very beautiful young woman who had just graduated from Michigan State University (not to be confused with the University of Michigan.)
She said that no one on campus dares being openly skeptical about climate. So I asked her how students felt after Michigan’s coldest winter ever, and she said that everyone blamed that on global warming too.
The opposite of diversity is university.
It is an oldie but a goldie …
In that case Lake Michigan is the direct result of Global Warming because the Great Lakes are a direct result of past glaciations that both scoured out the lake beds and depressed the sounding land. It must have taken Billions and Billions if not Trillions of tons of ice or solid water to accomplish this.
If anyone has a sharper pencil than mine I would enjoy seeing an educated guess about how much ice there was in North America 15,000 years ago.
Bush gets a pass?
I am vary hard pressed to blame the end of the last ice age upon the fact I drove an SUV for five years last decade. Assuming man made CO2 has all the magical properties the climate alarmists says it has, I suppose it could also be capable of time travel and melt the ice of the last glaciation. On the other hand, for CO2 to be able to do that, it violates as many laws of nature as the alarmists attribute the Global Greenhouse Effect.
As they say: extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Cherry picking the evidence, cooking the books, and presenting output of computer simulations as data does not come within a universe’s breadth to that requirement. One would have to travel at least six universes to the left for that to be so.
There seems to be an increasingly inverse relationship between the cost of a college degree and the intelligence of the graduate
Abbott is the man. This is what we need.

She says nobody dares being openly skeptical about climate? I can understand the staff, but why would the students be afraid? It’s not like somebody is going to kick them out of school.
Deniers don’t get laid.
Women can *always* get laid.
Getting kicked out of school isn’t the problem. The problem is getting low grades. Since job prospects and ability to go to better grad schools depends on having a decent GPA, it isn’t worth fighting some intellectual battle when they can easily screw you in retribution. Much easier to just go for the grade and get on with life.
Kind of like when I was in optometry school and the quacks were trying to push vision training on us. Some of the older professors had been pretending to straighten their esotropes eyes with exercise, which of course didn’t work, but they were teaching it as a way to make money from unfortunates with crossed eyes. All the students knew it was crap, and when I opened my mouth and said it was bullshit I almost got tossed but they couldn’t toss me because I had the highest grades in the class. There was a backlash and they wound up dropping VT from the curriculum, and all those old quacks are dead now. No optometrist on earth practices VT anymore, except this one guy in Schenectady who is a real schmuck.
Being failed accomplishes that.
Speaking of propaganda, how ’bout this jewel from Hillary?
“We struggled to buy houses.” Plural. Really.
Maybe she meant (in Hillary’s own little world): “We struggled to buy [really big, well-placed] houses [and property. We wanted prestigious property. After ALL the work I did on Bill we are OWED!]”
You know, the property Governor Clinton didn’t make back alley deals to acquire illegally. Wait, no one remembers that…
You can’t have causation without correlation. Two decades without correlation seems to be the dagger in the heart of AGW.
Ouch. That really hurts, Keitho. They need to relearn their theory construction models.
In 1997 I hired a recent graduate from Michigan State with a Natural Resources Degree. This was very early in the AGW time frame. She told me that one of her professors told her that sea level was rising from global warming at a rate that would put Manhattan under water within 20 years. I explained to her that at that rate you could actually observe the inundation occurring in real time and that there was no way that sea level was rising at that rate. She assured me that her professor showed them a figure that showed Manhattan underwater in 20 years, generated I believe from a model. At that time I kind of got a chuckle out of it but never thought that this kind of nonsense could really become mainstream academic teachings. Unfortunately MSU has been pumping out a generation of students completely detached from reality. By the way, I believe that young lady is an environmental attorney now.
Glacierman, I think you were referring to this. Amazing short video. http://robertscribbler.wordpress.com/2014/06/06/ten-cubic-kilometers-of-ice-lost-from-jakobshavn-glacier-in-less-than-one-month/#comments
Temperatures have been over freezing at that glacier yet this year, and you think it is rapidly melting? Brilliant.
No I was not referring to that video. I was referring to a professor filling a college student’s head full of nonsense then turning them loose into the market with no ability to differentiate BS from reality.
Did you attend Michigan State University?
Hilarious!
“Glacier persun! Maybe you meant to watch my video about these cleaning products I will sell you!” –something matayoyo probably would have said 20 years ago
Ten Cubic Kilometers of Ice Lost From Jakobshavn Glacier in Less than One Month
Can they plant crops there yet? Maybe they’ll get lucky and more of it will melt away so the land will become, like, useful, instead of being covered with ice.
Hey Everyone! YES YOU! Read this, it is BRILLIANT!

@Truthseeker: It was brilliant. Many thanks for the link.
Hah!
Throughout the history of human endeavors we have blamed someone for bad weather. Burning witches was just one of many.
It would happen today except that there are too many laws. However, lives can be taken, if not physically then taking the very fibers of freedom and goodwill.

What happened to my post??
Our institutions of “higher learning” have become citadels of censorship and politically correct thought. Critical thinking is discouraged, especially if it flouts the “consensus.” Many professors, especially those who are not tenured, are afraid to question the global warming meme out of fear of retribution, Others with doubts simply find it more convenient to join the herd in its anti-CO2 crusade. Why risk being left off the cocktail-party invitation list.
Reblogged this on Edonurwayup's Blog and commented:
I think it behooves to us to find out where does ice come from and whence forth it goes.
MSU should definitely not be confused with UM. That said, all the trendies here in Ann Arbor are forever banging on about “climate change” and I daresay I’m alone among my friends in thinking it is absolute unscientific bullshit. But I usually keep quiet because I hate when they get all emotional and freak out when I tell them they are repeating utter nonsense.
