My Theory About Obama’s Terrorist Release

Obama is always looking for ways to further weaken the other branches of government, so he seeks out sympathetic causes which he can use as an excuse to break the law. He got very sloppy this time, and didn’t realize that this particular breach of the law isn’t popular with anyone.

Now he is apologizing in hopes of avoiding impeachment.

Methinks he overplayed the hand. Gonna be damned hard for the MSM to apologize and spin all this.

  2. B says:

Picking a sympathetic cause to convince the public to allow them more power is SOP. They play their games of risk and other things with that power. Often what they are really doing is contrary to the excuses they used for the public. Usually team politics and some other nonsense allows the public to deal with it. However, at some points they go a little too far and the discontinuities are too big for the public to grasp. This might be one of them.

TOO many more Obamas and you can kiss this ‘experiment’ good bye.

    Thanks, libs.

  4. _Jim says:

Detroit, Benton Harbor, East St. Louis, Chicago – they ALL have something in common – any of you libs care to take a stab at what that might be?

    • Obviously it’s too many wreckers & saboteurs. We need to violently purge everyone who doesn’t toe the party line. It’s a good thing our beautiful & non-wookie-like First Lady is making sure children get the vital information about wreckers & saboteurs to the correct authorities.

The Little Dic has convinced himself that the war with Islam is over. The enemy has a very long memory and is still fighting the crusades.

    • B says:

The only reason they are enemies is because the US federal government has been interfering in their business since the end of WW2 if not WW1. Stop screwing with them, stop supporting various governments over there, and most of the problems would go away as they would go back to killing to each other. Perhaps if with those US supported governments out of the way they might be able to make some economic progress.

The only problem is that as you point out they aren’t about to forget what was done to them. They aren’t like americans who think what happened a few hours ago was a long time ago and best forgotten.

      • Yes, the Siege of Vienna (1529) was caused by the US meddling in the Middle East in the 1920s. Got it.

        • _Jim says:

It’s that telekinetic linkage back into history thing; we need a preemptive crime and thought police detail to assure that this never happens again … /sarc, if I need it.

B: Stark is pulling your leg because what he says is impossible from a timeline point of view (you can look it up).

The Islamists are pissed because of the Charles Martel diplomatic blunder when he was rude to them at Tours in 732 AD. Martel also pissed off other Austrasians, Neustrians, Burgundians, Friesians, Saxons and Bavarians and who knows whom else. One of these days it’s all gonna come to a screeching halt over there.

        • B says:

Long before 2001 I went to school with a number of people from the middle east here in the US of A. We got to talking a few times. Nobody gives two shits about what americans do here at home, how we live, if we are free or not. What they care about is the federal government meddling in their affairs, supporting governments that rule over them, etc and so forth. What was desert storm considered? And excuse to have troops over there. To meddle more in their affairs.

Americans are a bunch of dupes and have been since the 19th century. Lied into wars and into meddling that has zero to do with ordinary americans. Zero. If the US federal government hadn’t started screwing with them in the 1940s and 50s there would never have been any issue what so ever. Are these middle eastern peoples attacking Brazil? No. Brazil is irrelevant to them and if the US federal government hadn’t messed with them it too would be irrelevant to them.

      • Justa Joe says:

Any govt “supported” (whatever that means) by the USA is bad any govt. not “supported” by the USA is inherently good. Must be Susan Rice checking in.

        • B says:

What if the US federal government started taking handouts from China and in return started changing laws favorable to China? Oh wait that’s what happened through campaign contributions. What about Israel and their lobbies? What if people started disappearing for speaking out against a US federal government in the pocket of some foreign nation? How would that make you feel? What if this condition reduced your lifestyle to one of poverty? How about then?

The US federal government creates/supports governments in the middle east that are tyrannies. Poverty, dispair, people disappearing. Why? For insider corporate profits, the thrill of power for politicians, the excuse to have wars…. the profits from wars. What if some other country did that here? Would you get angry enough to do something about it? Do you think someone else might? People over there aren’t crazy, the american public doesn’t have all the facts nor the empathy to figure it out.

      SEE: America’s Ruling Class

What is said in the excerpt at the bottom is validated by Rasmussen polls. (NOTE:several links are include to specific polls in the original. I did not copy them.)

67% of Political Class Say U.S. Heading in Right Direction, 84% of Mainstream Disagrees
Recent polling has shown huge gaps between the Political Class and Mainstream Americans on issues ranging from immigration to health care to the virtues of free markets.

The gap is just as big when it comes to the traditional right direction/wrong track polling question.

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 67% of Political Class voters believe the United States is generally heading in the right direction. However, things look a lot different to Mainstream Americans. Among these voters, 84% say the country has gotten off on the wrong track.

Twenty-four percent (24%) of Mainstream voters consider fiscal policy issues such as taxes and government spending to be the most important issue facing the nation today. Just two percent (2%) of Political Class voters agree.

With a gap that wide, it’s not surprising that 68% of voters believe the Political Class doesn’t care what most Americans think. Fifty-nine percent (59%) are embarrassed by the behavior of the Political Class. [And this was in 2010, I wonder what that number would be today?]

Just 23% believe the federal government today has the consent of the governed.

Most voters believe that cutting government spending and reducing deficits is good for the economy. The only group that disagrees is America’s Political Class……

      Excerpt

The only serious opposition to this arrogant Ruling Party is coming not from feckless Republicans but from what might be called the Country Party …

Never has there been so little diversity within America’s upper crust. Always, in America as elsewhere, some people have been wealthier and more powerful than others. But until our own time America’s upper crust was a mixture of people who had gained prominence in a variety of ways….

Today’s ruling class, from Boston to San Diego, was formed by an educational system that exposed them to the same ideas and gave them remarkably uniform guidance, as well as tastes and habits. These amount to a social canon of judgments about good and evil, complete with secular sacred history, sins (against minorities and the environment), and saints. Using the right words and avoiding the wrong ones when referring to such matters — speaking the “in” language — serves as a badge of identity. Regardless of what business or profession they are in, their road up included government channels and government money because, as government has grown, its boundary with the rest of American life has become indistinct. Many began their careers in government and leveraged their way into the private sector. Some, e.g., Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, never held a non-government job. Hence whether formally in government, out of it, or halfway, America’s ruling class speaks the language and has the tastes, habits, and tools of bureaucrats. It rules uneasily over the majority of Americans not oriented to government.

The two classes have less in common culturally, dislike each other more, and embody ways of life more different from one another than did the 19th century’s Northerners and Southerners….

  10. Bob Greene says:

Impeachment won’t make it through the Senate unless we get a new majority leader, so that’s in 2015 or so, assuming the R’s win and have the intestinal fortitude. And if you impeach Obama, who becomes President?

    • Truthseeker says:

It’s liars all the way down …

      • Mike D says:

You just keep booting them out until to reach an honest one. If that means they all get fired, who’s going to complain?

    • Mike D says:

Say this guy get’s tried for desertion and ends up doing hard labor, and then there’s a big incident in a year or so involving one of the 5 released guys. If that happens, I think it wouldn’t matter what that makeup of the Senate is. By ignoring the law that required 30 day notification, it leaves that door open. Any bad terror incident due to those 5 and the Dems aren’t going to support a lame duck, particularly when it then risks 2016, by having a weak administration finish out.

      • Bob Greene says:

From what I’ve read, he went AWOL in a combat zone. I believe that to be desertion. Desertion seems to hang on whether he intended to return. I bet his lawyer will argue that he intended to return but couldn’t because he was a hostage.

        • Gail Combs says:

The skuttlebutt is he left a note renouncing his US citizenship…

          http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/06/03/wartime-messages-to-parents-fellow-soldiers-reveal-troubled-bergdahl/

If he was a deserter who renounced his citizenship, (and the letter doesn’t not mysteriously disappear) that ups the complaints against Obummer to the T word since he is the Commander in Chief and therefore KNOWS what is happening, or at least is supposed to. He certainly had the time to be briefed.

…Their [two of Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers} claims that Bergdahl’s departure from the base was premeditated jibes with emails published in 2012, in which he told his father of his growing disenchantment with the Army’s mission in Afghanistan.

“The future is too good to waste on lies,” Bergdahl wrote his parents. “And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be American. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting.”

Either way it supports the notion that Obummer is not Christian and his sympathy lies elsewhere adding to Obama bowing to Saudi King Abdullah

    • jimash1 says:

Obviously ya gotta do Biden too. He’s non compos mentis .
      That leaves us with Boner.

  11. John F. Hultquist says:

Impeachment in any format is wishful thinking.
When invoking the role of Commander in Chief in support of the security of the Nation, a president has authority to do just about anything. This is what allowed Abraham Lincoln to write and execute the Emancipation Proclamation.

As “gofer” at 3:12 am says, there are so many nasty things going on during this administration that it is hard to keep up. This episode is going to get a lot of air time – until the next scandal breaks.
The next 2 elections will be interesting. (Lots of GOP seats up for grabs in 2016 as well as the top office.)

  12. Chuck says:

Impeachment wont happen. I would love to think it would. This will get swepped under the carpet like everything else. Political affirmative action at its finest.

  13. crosspatch says:

    The official line is:

They were going to have to cut those 5 loose at the end of the year anyway. Apparently they claim they could not get enough evidence to actually charge them with a crime and they only have authority to hold them till the end of the year so they “might as well get something for them” rather than have to release them for nothing.

What that SMELLS like is “we weren’t ever going to really make an effort at charging them with anything even though several of these guys are wanted for war crimes by the UN”.

  14. Colorado Wellington says:

My theory is that Obama is always looking for ways to deflect attention from his latest screwup. This worked on the VA scandal, which worked on ObamaCare, etc. Expect his next bold move. He will either attack Canada over tar sands or elope with Bergdahl.

  15. R. de Haan says:

Did Obama use the Gitmo Swap as a way to bumb the VA scandal out of the headlines: http://www.teaparty.org/did-obama-use-gitmo-swap-as-a-way-to-bump-va-scandal-out-of-headlines-43397/

    And the CO2 reduction scheme?

  16. Obama is just pursuing his own jihad, which is all he knows how to do.

  17. matayaya says:

Maybe the truth of President Obama’s motive is exactly what he says it is. We are winding down the Afghanistan war and we need to tidy up the loose ends before we go. We don’t leave our people behind. If this guy gets home and is guilty of what is being speculated, we will deal with it. We also need to deal with Gitmo. Put them on trial, get them in regular jail; or ship them out. We need to get this Afghanistan situation to a more manageable situation. Hyper partisan hatred of the President just seems stupid.

  18. philjourdan says:

Actually he broke the law because he has done it so many times in the past, with no consequences. He has no reason to obey the law. And he knows it.

    • matayaya says:

Absent partisan blinders, he made a legal executive decision. Presidents have always released prisoners when wars end. Besides, this Congress is dysfunctional and the timing dictated it be done quickly.

      • gator69 says:

Even CNN’s legal analyst says Skeeter broke the law. You are the partisan idiot in the room.

        http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jeffrey-toobin-obama-clearly-broke-the-law-on-bergdahl/

      • Chuck says:

matayaya gets talking points straight from moveon.org and the DNC. Partisan hack. Get a life.

        • philjourdan says:

Trolls like Matayaya serve a purpose. Most are incredulous about the things being pontificated about, and Steve then writes about them. How can people be so stupid, we ask? Matayaya provides the answer.

Always assume a comment you are about to read is loaded.

      • Mike D says:

When did the “war” end? Because he gave a speech saying so? I seem to have missed the headline where Al Qaieda said, get out of Afghanistan and we’ll leave you alone. Even the chosen one just yesterday acknowledged that these guys might be back on the battlefield. Which I guess by definition means even he knows it is not over.

      • jimash1 says:

        There was a war ?
        It ended ?
        Who won ?

      • philjourdan says:

No he did not. You can argue it is a good decision or a correct decision, but the law is clear., He broke the law. If you took off your partisan blinders you would see that. Even members of your own wing acknowledge that.

The law does not care your intentions when breaking it. That is up to the judge during sentencing.

      • philjourdan says:

Lamest excuse in the book – Congress is dysfunctional. Uh, excuse me – it was designed to be a governor of a runaway federal government! Try learning.

  19. Gail Combs says:

Speaking of VOTE THEM ALL OUT!
Voters headed to polls for primaries in 8 states yesterday
    Alabama
    California
    Iowa
    Mississippi
    Montana
    New Mexico
    New Jersey
    South Dakota

    Make sure you vote.

    • philjourdan says:

Not until next week for me. The establishment clown is calling the challenger a liar for saying that congress is exempt from Insider trading laws. DUH!!!! They are! Creep.

  20. Justa Joe says:

    B. Hussein is very loyal… but only to leftism and his leftist cohorts. As you see GITMO is still a cause célèbre among hardcore leftists as Mata Yaya demonstrates. Hussein is just fulfilling his pledge to the mata yayas of this world. He’s also cleaning up some loose ends of his surrender campaign for a clean cut & run. There’s also the side benefit of once again rubbing it in the face of middle America. Leftists live for this.

  21. Gamecock says:

If Obama had a son, he’d be just like Bergdahl – a deserter.

Indeed, if Obama had been in the military, he would have been a deserter. As Commander-in-Chief, he is returning assets to our enemy. That is worse than desertion.

    • gator69 says:

This should be charge number one against Skeeter…

“Dereliction of duty is a specific offense under United States Code Title 10,892. Article 92 and applies to all branches of the US military. A service member who is derelict has willfully refused to perform his duties (or follow a given order) or has incapacitated himself in such a way that he cannot perform his duties. Such incapacitation includes the person falling asleep while on duty requiring wakefulness, his getting drunk or otherwise intoxicated and consequently being unable to perform his duties, shooting himself and thus being unable to perform any duty, or his vacating his post contrary to regulations.”

      http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dereliction_of_duty

Or maybe charge number one should be treason…

  22. Scott says:

What I would like to know is if these 5 guys were so obviously terrorists why couldn’t they be convicted in a court of law? That’s what allowed them to be traded so easily, they were not convicted of anything!

  23. Scott Scarborough says:

    Any court.

    • _Jim says:

When was the last time any charges against anybody were filed in a so-called civilian court for being ‘an enemy combatant’?
