Obama Announces That CO2 Causes Asthma And Heart Attacks, And Threatens National Security

The president believes that an additional 0.0001 mole fraction CO2 causes heart attacks.

Apparently no one told him that people’s lungs already contain levels of CO2 hundreds of times higher than that.

Barack Obama talked up the health benefits of his climate plan on Saturday, saying cuts to carbon pollution would reduce asthma attacks by 100,000 and heart attacks by 2,100 just in the first year.

In the run-up to the announcement, the White House has tried to frame climate change as a personal threat, highlighting the risk to public health and national security.

Obama held a number of climate-themed events, including the visit to an asthma ward at the Children’s National Medical Centre in Washington DC, where he recorded the address.

Scientists have linked a risk in asthma and other respiratory diseases to worsening air pollution under climate change.

The only threat to Americans health comes from the Little Dictator and the Democrat party. Bill Gertz reported the other day that the LD signed a directive to use the military against US citizens if thing get unruly.

    • Gail Combs says:

Is this surprising after Congress Shredded The Law of Posse Comitatus?

Former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen
      Army Times, October 27, 1998

President Bush unveiled his broad “Homeland Security” department proposal in mid-July, including “a review of the law that could allow the military to operate more aggressively within the United States.” The proposal champions a “greater involvement of military personnel” in “domestic preparedness and response efforts.” Prior to this broad proposal, Department of Defense (DOD) officials repeatedly stated that they had no intention to recommend rewriting or repealing the Posse Comitatus Act, a post-Civil War statute that restricts the military’s ability to participate in civilian law enforcement. That cautious approach has now been openly abandoned….

As usual It does not matter which party is in control. We continually lose more and more of our freedoms. One party puts the screws to us so we vote in the other party and they just twist the screws tighter instead of repealing the mess the first party created which is why they got voted in. SNARL…

    • Al Gore says:

Putin causes Asthma too. Plus Putin has a secret CO2 factory in Russia to weaponize CO2 against America. He does, really. Really. You believe me, don’t ya?

Only you can save America by paying your carbon tax. Hey I know what I’m talking about because I’m a geinus. I invented the Internet! I should be President. I won, I really won, I really did, – not that Bush guy!

The Dunning Kruger effect paired with the Peter Principle; ppl will DIE because of that man’s absolute numbing STUPIDITY.

    • Colorado Wellington says:

      A most excellent diagnosis.

    • Gail Combs says:

      +1

    • Only it’s not stupidity. It’s a truly numbing lack of character, in a pampered man dedicated to an activist (i.e., revenge-minded) ideology.

      • _Jim says:

Character deficiencies aside, the man appears to be inept in any area that you or I or any given poster (excepting perhaps emsnews) would excel in; I chalk this up clinically to an unusual demonstration of the Dunning Kruger effect. The ‘root cause’ or causes can now be debated, e.g., a pampered, doted-over and near continual affirmative action rooted advancements, coupled with the “small pool” he has continually swam in and all that serving to ‘reinforce’ early childhood introduced ‘notions of grandeur’ and omnipotence. Throw in the intermediate life experience with the avowed Marxist / Communist Frank Marshall Davis and you have a ‘perfect (political) storm’ in Obama, much like that which developed H!tler’s warped character (inordinately large visions, thoughts of omnipotence, grandeur, et al).

    • gibleonzim says:

He will go down as one of the 4 best ‘people serving’ Presidents of all time! GOP starts with a capital G and should read Greed….I am one of millions of white people who voted for Obama and, you would be considered a marginally good citizen if you would support the President your country elected…instead of racially condemning him…..list your achievements and we’ll compare them to his…..

      • You are a world class wanker.

        • Colorado Wellington says:

Apparently no one told him that people’s lungs already contain levels of CO2 hundreds of times higher than that.

Steve, it’s the above sentence that gibleonzim considers a racist attack on the President. Let’s analyze it:

Poster gibleonzim stressed that he is white. He knows that white people in many liberal strongholds believe that black people can’t count past 40. To them, the phrase “hundreds of times higher” consists of well known racist code words. Also, gibleonzim understood from your sentence that you’re calling the President ignorant about CO2 content in the lungs because white people on his staff did not tell him about it.

You need to phrase things more carefully for white Progressives like him. They have fine-tuned ears on race.

      • Arne Saknussemm says:

        Damn fool.

      • D. Self says:

giblets, list your accomplishments and the Presidents? Obama couldn’t tell the truth even if he wanted to.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

A limp supporter of a limp president, but very white and proud of it!

      • Colorado Wellington says:

Of course, asthma and heart attack are pure racist code words but I did mention it because it’s a trivial and well known fact to everyone living in a liberal college town.

      • gofer says:

How on earth did you glean racism from this? Its incedible that any criticism is deemed racist. Don’t you see how stupid that sounds? You seem to see him as some handicapped person that needs to be protected from criticism and your moral preening as a “white” person makes you appear condescending.

Name one accomplishment…. just one before he became prez. It was noted for voting “present” most of the time. His biggest asset is his race, which libs are quick to jump on. With his background, no white man would have ever been nominated, much less elected.

  3. Colorado Wellington says:

What a superficial and incomplete list. He skipped over female hysteria.

  4. There Is No Substitute for Victory. says:

I guess that my Grandmother’s Co2 spewing Philodendron has got to go, along with all the animals in the Central Park Zoo.

  5. Gail Combs says:

    What a bunch of LIES!

My family is chuck full of asthmatics and the air today is much much cleaner than it was in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Also notice how they did a bait and switch starting with CO2 and then saying

“Scientists have linked a risk in asthma and other respiratory diseases to worsening air pollution under climate change.”

Exactly what worsening air pollution? Exactly what pollutants?

We (and other animals) evolved breathing a lot more CO2 than is present in the current atmosphere. To little CO2 can cause an upset in the lungs and in the blood stream (Hyperventilation Syndrome)

….Normal blood pH is maintained between 7.35 and 7.45 by the regulatory systems. The lungs regulate the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood and the kidneys regulate the bicarbonate. When the pH decreases to below 7.35 an acidosis condition is present. Acidosis means that the hydrogen ions are increased and that pH and bicarbonate ions are decreased….
    http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/263respiratoryacid.html

Depending on the problem, breathing into a paper bag to increase the amount of CO2 available to the lungs is recommended for people (like my Mom) who hyperventilate.

      • Gail Combs says:

Gee, maybe we could create a huge Biosphere dome and place all the libs along with whatever plant varieties they want. It would be a special dome with air scrubbing that removes ALL CO2 gas from the dome….

Wonder how long they would survive?

Should we start the experiment with Al Gore, Mikey Mann, Jim Hansen, Kevin Trenberth, Phil Jones and the rest of their merry Pal-reviewers and see?

Guest Post: U.S. Gasoline Consumption Plummets By Nearly 75%
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-05-30/us-gasoline-consumption-plummets-nearly-75

U.S. “gasoline consumption” – as measured by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) itself – has plummeted by nearly 75%, from its all-time peak in July of 1998. A near-75% collapse in U.S. gasoline consumption has occurred in little more than 15 years.

There is some debate about whether the number the EIA reports accurately reflects consumption by the public at the pump, as reflected in this article excerpt:

So how can this raw data, produced by the government itself, be explained? To begin with; the government chooses to measure U.S. gasoline consumption in a very odd manner: by measuring the amount of gasoline entering the domestic supply-chain rather than by measuring actual consumption at the other end of the supply-chain – i.e. “at the pump”.

Why does the U.S. government, which (among other things) leads the world in the manufacture of statistics not produce any simple/direct measurement of gasoline consumption? How can the St. Louis Fed produce nearly 100 different charts on gasoline and diesel prices (for any/every price-category which can be imagined by these statistics geeks), but not a single chart on gasoline supply/demand?

    • Zero Heads is rapidly converging with Alex Jones. They do a decent job of pointing out that the gummint numbers are a bunch of nonsense, but the associated argle-bargle is pretty far out there.

      • _Jim says:

One has to be careful with any source; I haven’t the time to be the primary ‘monitor’ on everything, so, I use sources as ZH to act in a tripwire capacity, hence, the caveat about the ‘numbers’ regarding reported ‘fuel consumption’ by the public via an indirect ‘proxy’ value …

Not every article appearing on the ‘Hedge carries the same weight; often it is the ensuing comments from ppl in the financial trenches where the ‘gold’ is to be found. Point me to a ‘source’ with ppl closer to the financial ‘functionings’ in this country and I’ll be there in a flash. Obviously ANY of the MSM ‘sources’ don’t meet this criteria, IOW, I want raw, unfiltered info, and then let me evaluate the validity/veracity or falsity of same.

  8. gator69 says:

He could be right. As winters get colder, I see my neighbors stockpiling more wood for their stoves. More chopping and burning of wood could indeed raise the risk of heart attacks and worsening asthma.

    • Gail Combs says:

Not to mention as summers get colder. It is 50.2 °F!!!! In June! In the sunny south!

Normal low for this time of year is 62 °F

Interesting that all the emphasis is on things that might or could happen while ignoring the things that DID HAPPEN in the EU like excess winter deaths and fuel poverty.

    • _Jim says:

I have made mention on WUWT that several times that the last few winters have been THE PITS regarding wood-smoke on those cold days/nights (post cold front!) when the air would otherwise be PRISTINE and ideal for a good, brisk walk in same; but Thanks to Obama people are being pushed to use a FUEL a couple steps LOWER on the fuel energy-evolutionary scale than COAL.

And this in an area where the homes were once touted/adverted to be equipped with “clean, efficient electric heat” (compared to oil or coal fired boilers in past eras) … my folks parents used to have COAL delivered via chutes into the basement where the boiler was located; we are NOT making progress given the current state of things energy-wise in this country …

Climate alarmism is dead if even Obama has to concoct a dying children story, in between getting drones to shoot on civilians including children

  10. Douglas Hoyt says:

Typical indoor CO2 levels are 800 ppm or higher. If it is less than 800ppm, the insulation of the house is insufficient. People who install insulation will tell you this.

    • tom0mason says:

By keeping CO2 up at 800ppm you get the extra heat from CO2 back radiation.
      🙂

      • _Jim says:

Ummm … any idea … any idea how a … any idea how a reflector works? Say … say like a a mirror for instance?

        • tom0mason says:

Yes, that’s it. The CO2 is like an IR emitter and reflector, just like billions of IR illuminating mirrors back radiating the IR for eva!
          Keeping everyone nice and warm.
          Umm, isn’t climate science magical?

          🙂

        • _Jim says:

No .. no … that’s not the answer to the question … the question was: “How does a reflector work?” We have to cross this bridge first before proceeding further …

  11. You might expect such lies from a tyrannical tribal leader, ruling over his tribe’s traditional enemies, in a region where a large segment of the people are not adequately educated and many are scraping by on a subsistence lifestyle… Oh, wait…

  12. stewgreen says:

Since the CO2 level inside a submarine is 3,500ppm, Obama will be closing the Navy down ? .. Oh and NASA due to the same level inside spacecraft.
I have also seen comments that in some offices the normal CO2 level can be around 800ppm that t also (Prof Will Happer) http://www.bishop-hill.net/blog/2013/5/17/happer-on-cnbc.html

    • tom0mason says:

They keep the submarine CO2 levels that high so that the CO2 captures the human radiated IR, and holds on to it, thereby forming a blanket of warmth throughout the sub, thus keeing the heating cost lower.

We need a pointman on the case!
Still no need to worry now as soon they’ll have all the subs basking in the heat that’s in the deep oceans.

Apparently the US Pretzel believes that CO2 causes asthma and heart attacks; oblivious to the fact that being unable to afford energy is killing millions every year and causing billions of others to remain relatively poor.

  15. cartoonmick says:

Politicians in general have very little understanding of things of a technical nature.

So they tend to say the wrong thing at times, but more importantly, they make the wrong decisions.

Wrong decisions, or decisions which are too late or of an insufficient nature, will be the downfall of our polluted environment.

As a consequence, decisions in this decade will determine the future of life on this planet of ours.

    It’s well depicted in this cartoon . . . . .

  16. John B., M.D. says:

There is zero relationship between atmospheric CO2 and asthma or myocardial infarction, period.

However, making electricity rates necessarily skyrocket would increase the risk that the poor can’t pay their electricity bills and lose air conditioning, thus worsening various health conditions.
