Amdahl’s Law basically says that you can only improve a system by the fraction of the system you are improving. If you have a section of code which uses up 10% of time of execution of the whole program, the best overall speedup you can produce by changes to that section is 10%.
Similarly, if the US produces 20% of global CO2 emissions in 2020, the largest effect Obama could have by wrecking the US economy is 20%. The only thing the EPA regs do is hurt Americans.
New Study Outlines Plan for 26% CO2 Reduction from U.S. Power Sector with No Net Cost to the Economy
http://aceee.org/press/2014/04/new-study-outlines-plan
but if the rest of the World is going to reduce emissions, they will expect the most consuming nation to make some effort.
Seems that some people have no clue about Economics. And not all of them work for Obama.
The rest of the world will not reduce emissions. They have no reason to, and every reason not to. Econ 101.
We will have to wait and see if little “b” bob wakes up to this farce after his main meal begins to consist of mainly canned cat food …
Jim, waste not want not. I insulated 25 houses 35 years ago with 6 inches of attic insulation, time for a younger person to add another 6 inches. “…Furthermore, adoption of these policies would significantly boost the economy, increasing the national gross domestic product by $17.2 billion and creating 611,000 new jobs across the country in 2030. This number includes people employed in jobs directly related to energy efficiency like home contractors and construction, and people like small business owners and their employees who benefit as money saved is spent back into the local economy….”
-1 Fail; failed to grasp the humor, the joke, the seriousness, the eventual financial implications of runaway federal spending.
Once again little “b” bob cuts and pastes babble from who knows where in order to form what he would probably contend is ‘cogent argument’.
Double fail.
.
Jim, the quote is from the ACEEE link above, and unlike the trillion dollar per year war budget, public spending on useful things like dams, the interstate highway system or energy efficiency makes our country stronger and more secure.
If you like your cut’n’paste ignorance, you can keep your cut’n’paste ignorance.
By the bye, “bobmaginnis”, have you learned about math yet?
Thanks to so many unemployed, manufacturing has been migrating back to the US. But just in time to save the developing world factories comes the EPA. Labor costs are only one of the reasons manufacturing moved overseas. Another is the environmental regulations. But low cost energy helped the migration back because the US uses much more automation due to the higher labor costs. Make that automation expensive to run and there’s no advantage to bringing production back. Then both labor and automation are expensive, on top of the all the other regulations.
China is not necessarily a great place to source everything, but the rest of Asia is developing, with even Vietnam getting some new high tech factories in the last few years.
http://phys.org/news/2010-10-intel-vietnam-biggest-chip.html
If South America got it’s act together, they’d pick up much more of the production. But since there are too many socialists down there, so they mainly get stuff like socks and underwear production.
“Money saved is spent back in local economy.” Yes, that is what tax cuts do, raising the price of electricity, not so much. So contractors benefit but the average homeowner suffers. Sounds like a deal. And are the people putting out those figures the same ones who predicted all the savings from Obamacare?
One Day After U.S. Announces Emissions Target, China Says Carbon Cap Is On The Way.
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/06/03/3444105/china-carbon-cap-2/
ROFLMAO
And the day after that they said no they are not capping emissions.
“[Yesterday] morning, a Chinese climate adviser announced that the country was going to limit its carbon dioxide emissions. Now he has backed down and says: “That was just my personal opinion. What I have said does not represent the view of the Chinese government.”
Was this really just a gaffe? Earlier in the day, He Jiankun, a Chinese climate adviser announced that the People’s Republic of China would cap its carbon emissions. That was a powerful statement, at least it was perceived as such – not least because the American president also announced that he was more determined than ever to mobilise against carbon dioxide emissions.
But China is already backing down. “What I have said today was my personal opinion,” He told the Reuters news agency in Beijing. His statements from the morning session were intended only for “academic studies”. “What I have said does not represent the view of the Chinese government or of any organisation,” he clarified .
At a [green energy] conference He had earlier said the world’s largest CO2 producer would, for the first time, cap its greenhouse gas emissions to a specified upper limit. This, he claimed, would be firmly anchored in China’s upcoming five-year plan that will come into force in 2016. Coming soon after the announcement of new measures by the U.S. government the day before, this announcement had raised hopes of an international breakthrough in the fight against global climate change. What now?
The official who had made the announcement (He Jiankin) has issued a clarification:
It’s not the case that the Chinese government has made any decision. This is a suggestion from experts, because now they are exploring how emissions can be controlled in the 13th Five Year Plan…. This is a view of experts; that’s not saying it’s the government’s. I’m not a government official and I don’t represent the government.
It’s staged propaganda.
One Day after Climate Progress announces China Says Carbon Cap is on the way.
China says story is untrue.

Ah, yet another busted Green hype.
Poor bob.
thinkprogress. A double oxymoron.
Bob have you ever read any articles on this matter from Chinese agencies. If you do you will learn that China will double coal use by 2035-2040. Why would you read propaganda from Joe Romm who is paid to represent a political POV rather acquire firsthand info from independent sources?
Think(for)progress(ives)! 😆
Thanks for the comedy Bob, you never disappoint.
And I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
Write back when China says it is HERE.
“The only thing the EPA regs do is hurt Americans.”
The effects on World trade should be factored in here, as SHOULD have been learned/remembered after the fiasco that lead into The Great Depression and affected all our trading partners at the time as well.
Nah, it won’t effect World Trade. the BRICS countries are ready and able to step into the gap that the fall of the USA will cause.
After all that is what the goal of interdependence that Al Gore, Bill Clinton, the World Trade Organization and the IMF is all about. That is why Bill Clinton made sure US technology was all transfered overseas along with our factories and jobs.
I think you should know this, think: foodstuffs. But I also perceive a note of sarcasm that our liberal/progressive readers may not pick up …

He Jiankun responded to the Reuters article, saying ‘What I said today was my personal view. The opinions expressed at the workshop were only meant for academic studies. What I said does not represent the Chinese government or any organization
Hmmmm … ONE BIG HONKING ASTERISK to the story by Reuters (which is where I read the story yesterday).
I’d like to know what an alarmist will eat in a zero carbon emission environment,
But this argument was never logical. It was only ever idealogical.

I already purposed we use a sealed dome with CO2 removal equipment to study the matter. It should be stocked with veggie seeds and Obummer, AL Gore, Ted Turner, Bill Gates The Clintons, George Soros… with scientists Mikey Mann, Phill Jones, Kevin Trenbreth, Gavin Schmidt along to study and right up the conclusion.
The only technical obstacle is finding or designing the equipment needed to ensure the the atmosphere stays completely CO2 free. Perhaps NASA has some left over space suits that could be used to prevent contamination.
It seems like the President, in a bid to secure his supposed legacy, is throwing the Democratic Party under the bus in the fall elections.
Pretty funny how raising the cost of energy is going to help grow the economy. I think he told the truth in a couple of candid moments a long time ago (“energy prices will necessarily skyrocket”). Now they never seem to tell the truth about what they expect the actual impact will be.
If the Republicans get control of the Senate, I expect the President plans to obstruct them using the presidential veto. I’m not sure what happens if the Senate and House vote to cut the EPA, ACA, etc. Can the President veto the budget?
We all need to be aware that the progtards are a lot of evil things, but they aren’t stupid. From this point forward, force is how everything will happen. That means that elections will be stolen to keep conspirators in power. If that doesn’t work, assassinations of their opponents will commence.
+1
I remember the last time Ron Paul was running for President (2008) He promised his supporters in the first week of June that he would not quit and would run to the bitter end.
Back in December of 2007, Daniel Estulin says he has received information from sources inside the U.S. intelligence community suggesting that people from the highest levels of government are discussing “eliminating” Rep. Ron Paul because its controlled political system is threatened by Paul’s exploding popularity.
Sunday, June 8, 2008, marked the last day of that year’s annual Bilderberg meeting, which took place in Chantilly, Virginia.
On June 12, 2008, Paul announced that he was ending the presidential race.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
There are plenty of cases of assassinations , mysterious poisonings or kidnappings of loved ones connected to good politicians scattered though out the recent history of the USA.
Do you think those behind the throne pulling the strings would hesitate in having those who challenge their control eliminated?
Messed up Estulin LINK
I wouldn’t trust anything coming from Woodrow Wilson (evil piece of crap that he was).
Yes he can. But no money can be spent until he signs a bill that comes from congress. So he will be basically cutting all government funding.
I guess Obama isn’t aware Germany and Spain bankrupted themselves with the same brilliant policies.

It’s the deep ocean. It’s sucking down all the heat and can’t be stopped.
More like the icebergs are clogged Drake Passage and flipped the climate switch to Ice Age Mode….
QUICK QUICK where is Reggie and his blowtorch?!?
Since it cannot be stopped, eventually it will reach a stage of singularity. And the Universe will end. Not with a whimper of entropy, but from a massive flair from heat buried in the deep oceans of a 3rd rate planet circling a 3rd rate star in a 4th rate galaxy.
Alarmists tell us so.
