President Obama pulls off one of his biggest lies of the week. The US almost eliminated carbon pollution (soot) from power plants about 40 years ago, when we they were forced to use electrostatic precipitators. His CO2 regs will accomplish none of the things he claims it will, but they will damage the economy and costs jobs.
Oh, yes, it’s always for “the children and grandchildren”, as if that excuses any over-the-top statist regulatory, liberty-killing action by Big Gummint.

I’m even more positive that CO2 (let alone “air pollution”) has ever been listed on a death certificate as “cause of death”.
Epidemiologists are in similar league with climate scientists – statistical manipulators and extrapolators who are driven by political agenda.
The mind-bogglingly stupid “precautionary principle” first started within the exposure/risk/health “industry”, under the spectacularly mistaken notion that anything that was bad for you in massive concentrations must be bad for you in miniscule concentrations.
There are thousands of examples. Sunlight, sodium, water, and countless other environmental commodities are absolutely essential for life. But each and every one, in excess, can be fatal.

Thus government cleaning up power plants has a narrative stuck in the early 1970s because that’s when they started doing it.
I forgot the government math. Let’s say for the sake of argument that 98% of the soot was cleaned up decades ago. There’s 2% left. For spending all this money they’ll get a 25% reduction of what’s left. That means another 0.5%.

Until right now, I never understood why they switched to “carbon” instead of CO2. Now it makes sense. Even the gullible will not believe that CO2 will increase heart attacks and sick days, and asthma attacks. But “carbon” in the sense of soot is something different. I thought they went to carbon because the CO2 theory was falling apart, but your post has closed the loop. They are intentionally making it vague so that they can make both claims as needed. Either particulates, or CO2.

You’re obviously entitled to your opinions, Jim, but unfortunately logic doesn’t rule in this scenario, for a couple of reasons.
One, it involves people, & people are not logical, not by a long chalk. People work way more on emotion than logic, & if you think World History is proceeding, has proceeded & will proceed on a basis of logic, then you’ve read different histories than me.

The whole “public health” meme is completely disingenuous. I had this discussion with one of my friends on Facebook, and he couldn’t, literally COULDN’T believe that Carbon Dioxide doesn’t cause asthma attacks. I gave him links to papers in a variety of journals which all had scary headlines about CO2/Climate Change/asthma, and everyone said the same thing: CO2 is plant food= plants grow better= asthma and allergies are exacerbated due to more allergens. He couldn’t accept that he was arguing against having the planet be MORE productive and grow more plants. He is the head of the County Heath Administration in a nearby County, you’d think he could look at facts. Be he literally couldn’t do it. THAT is the problem.
I tried reading the chaotic & long winded Bircher thing that Jim referenced, & stopped at this delicious piece of nonsense : “One of the most striking tactics that the John Birch Society (JBS) & other conspiracy theorists use on this issue is to overwhelm the opponent with information.”
