My code is posted online (the ultimate documentation) and only a mathematical idiot would believe that this has anything to do with the use of anomalies or non-anomalies. Subtracting a constant from a linear equation (Ax + B) has no impact on the slope A, which represents the temperature trend. An anomaly is a constant offset. If we change the equation from Ax + B to Ax + B – C, does the slope A change? Of course not.
The only time when the use of anomalies is important is if you are comparing different time periods during the year. Comparing full years or the same time periods during different years does not require or benefit from the use of (imaginary) anomalies.
Nik – how did you get a PhD without understanding middle school math?
My work upsets people on both sides of the debate who have a vested interest in keeping this scam alive. I’m more than happy to debate anyone who disagrees with my results. Bring it on.
I will give Nik credit for challenging me here, which puts him well above a few other people. Nik, go back and tell your whiny friends to debate me here instead of stabbing me in the back.
Nik’s got a problem with Oliver Manuel. He is on a crusade about it and hates anyone allowing him to post.
Nik appears frequently on other blogs. Although he is willing to challenge you post to post it writes mostly rubbish or poorly considered reposts.
I have now 139,000 hits on Google as NikFromNYC, going back to about 2008. I have spent considerable time creating simple infographics and was instrumental in helping convert conservative bloggers and journalists over to skepticism. I donated $750 to Misha of the ultra right wing shock jock blog NiceDoggie.net when he nearly went bankrupt, and my alerting of psychologist John Ray of the Greenie Watch blog resulted in a multi-thousand dollar donation too.
My infographics are meant to vastly simplify skepticism in a way that is battle-tested in enemy blogosphere territory, having culled my arguments down to their sharpest edges where there are no remaining debate points against them left. One of my graphics was used by a pair of school kids to present to his alarmist teacher and classmates:
http://joannenova.com.au/2013/12/two-high-school-students-take-on-teacher-over-climate-and-win-standing-ovation/
Since I’m good at infographics, I’m always looking for new material, Steve’s latest claim included, but I would need the intricate *details* of the argument presented by those with appropriate time and software. Had I run with his earlier hockey stick, I would have done great damage to skepticism and so I didn’t run with it. I asked for details and it collapsed upon inspection.
My variety of infographics are seen here, as I posted it tens of *thousands* of times in the two years after Climategate when skepticism finally got real attention.
Here I present A Global Warming Digest:

Later I doubled down my online activism by spending a full eight *months*, sixteen *hours* a day, posting these along with topical comments to articles, on news sites, using Tom Nelson’s blog of headlines along with Google News variations of each news story, worldwide. I cringed when Iron Man showed up too, and a few “it’s all volcanoes” guys, requiring me to do damage control.
Have you similarly paid your dues, commenters?
The quality of your complaints about the temperature adjustments ranges from non-existent to completely inane
Nik, you are sounding whiny and butt hurt because Steve is doing so much better of a job than you in showing the total fraud and corruption from the Climate Scientists.
Keep up the good work. You almost always make me laugh with your stupidity.
My long reply is once again pre-moderated.
And here I thought this would be a post about Matayaya.
Nik a sceptic? Nik a PhD? … yeah right, and I have a few bridges and things I would like to sell you….
Perhaps another classic case of “Vegetarian Brain”, as evidenced by a decline in the mental faculties.
Can Vegetarian Diets Cause Mental Disorders?
You’re a Vegetarian. Have You Lost Your Mind?
Vegetarian diets are correlated with an increase in mental health problems
Nik, RIP (from a ‘mental’ point of view).

Yes, the US Govenment gives us the “Food Pyramid” with the base full of wheat and grain products. However a diet high in wheat is not exactly recommended.

Role of red meat in the diet for children and adolescents
I wonder how much of the mysterious shrinking baby problem in the USA is caused by an avoidance of meat esp. red meat thanks to the vegan/vegitarian craze not to mention the “thin” craze.
The article was written by someone in Australia, where they have a rather large meat industry supported by the government. If you have any doubts about the quality of a vegan diet, watch https://www.youtube.com/user/primitivenutrition and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCddn8dUxYdgJz3Qr5mjADtA
Raindog,
I can not eat most plants because they make me sick. I am mainly a carnivore because that is the main diet of my direct ancestors.
You want to be a vegan, be my guest but don’t try and push that on me. My body didn’t just vote “no” it voted “HE!! NO!” in a manner not accepted in polite company.

An example of, well, what is wrong with Gobull Warming taking hold as a religion and out of the domain of rational science.

“Nik – how did you get a PhD without understanding middle school math?”
You know, I’ve often wondered that myself.
Maybe Nik would prefer to see something a little more ‘studied’:
“Vegetarian diet and mental disorders: results from a representative community survey”
By Johannes Michalak1, Xiao Chi Zhang and Frank Jacobi
http://www.ijbnpa.org/content/9/1/67
Abstract
Background
The present study investigated associations between vegetarian diet and mental disorders.
Methods
Participants were drawn from the representative sample of the German Health Interview and Examination Survey and its Mental Health Supplement (GHS-MHS). Completely vegetarian (N?=?54) and predominantly vegetarian (N?=?190) participants were compared with non-vegetarian participants (N?=?3872) and with a non-vegetarian socio-demographically matched subsample (N?=?242).
Results
Vegetarians displayed elevated prevalence rates for depressive disorders, anxiety disorders and somatoform disorders. Due to the matching procedure, the findings cannot be explained by socio-demographic characteristics of vegetarians (e.g. higher rates of females, predominant residency in urban areas, high proportion of singles). The analysis of the respective ages at adoption of a vegetarian diet and onset of a mental disorder showed that the adoption of the vegetarian diet tends to follow the onset of mental disorders.
Conclusions
In Western cultures vegetarian diet is associated with an elevated risk of mental disorders. …

The sample set is quite small. 1.3% vegetarian, 4% mostly vegetarian.
Not zero though huh?
A personal account – vegan in decline:
Is my vegan diet causing memory and focus problems?
Opening excerpt:
My diet is almost totally vegan. I can no longer think straight and my memory is getting worse all the time. I’m struggling to regain mental clarity and control. I’m not willing to give up veganism. But I need solutions.
For the last three years I’ve been practicing a vegetarian diet that is almost totally vegan. I occasionally eat dairy and egg products when other people cook for me as a concession to the difficulty of cooking vegan without experience. That, and I love cheese.
My decision to practice a mostly vegan lifestyle is morally motivated by my feelings about animal treatment. So I don’t plan to ever go back to eating meat or fish of any kind. And more and more I’m cutting out dairy and eggs as I prepare more meals at home and seek out vegan friendly restaurants.
The problem is that I’ve noticed that my mood, mental clarity, and energy levels are poor these last few years. And I noticed the same thing when I was vegetarian about 10 years ago, but my diet was quite loaded with bread and cheese back then, so I figured that accounted for it.
I can read the same paragraph 5 or 10 times before realizing that my mind was elsewhere the whole time and I don’t remember what I’ve read for the last few pages. The feeling that comes with this is the same thing all day long in all activities. My days end up being like a scattered random series of events that I’m in control of, but don’t always remember initiating.

The cause of the persons problems is b12 deficiency.
Nik is B12 deficient?
How did they arrive in that condition? Was it what they ate? Or didn’t eat? Doesn’t this show the fallacy of a completely vegan diet?
In answer to the last question, yes.
I make my own beef jerky with fresh herbs. I’m currently about to enjoy braised ribs with fresh shiitake mushrooms and cocktail onions. I think you have me confused with Steven Goddard the *actual* vegetarian. I won’t even date vegetarians or hang out with them since indeed they are oddballs, an abomination against human nature and human biology.
Where the hell do you come up with this crap in a way that is 180 degrees backwards?
http://oi58.tinypic.com/2u6l74x.jpg
If you can’t get this bit right, then what does it say about your perception of the details of the climate debate?
You guys on this blog in particular are just looking to bond, tribally, by bashing half of the population who have a great distaste for the activist religiosity of conservatives, as if urban folk are fully equated with a few sociopathic progressive leaders, which is just bigotry.
I don’t know whether to take you at your word and apologize, or rely on my memory where I could swear I saw a post on WUWT where you claimed to be a vegan … I am prone to trust my memory at this point given your behavior, however, and not just from today but over the last few months.
.
Vitamin B12 deficiency does that to you. Darwin will not be denied.
Maybe Nik needs a ‘mental health’ intervention. Perhaps we should find a way to ‘pitch in’ and help.
It is not a laughing matter to be among the mentally challenged, or to be in one’s mentally declining years and be totally unawares that is is happening.
Poor Nik.
.
Wait a second. Who is mentally challenged here?
Subject A: A supporter of cryptic claims of an ad hominem flinging conspiracy theorist.
Subject B: A busy guy with a real science background asking a programmer to provide a full and normal everyday presentation of the details of his fantastic claim.
Steve, I respect your work, however calling somebody an idiot for willing to discuss the matter, however poorly, is unnecessary. Lets leave this kind of vocabulary to the Climies.
Nik is behaving like a complete idiot.
I’m amazed at the trashing of a poster here that for the most part agrees with what is said.
Are you having a math problem too?
Did you say ‘math’, or ‘meth’. 😉
There is a long history behind this post.
Not only did you pathetically try to trash my perfectly reasonable request, since *you* have the software set up that most of us do not, but now you immorally BAN my ability to respond under any of my attempted log ons. You are stuck in tribal warfare mode.
It’s a weblog. There is absolutely nothing immoral ever about banning someone from a weblog. I think you need to talk to your doctor about ButchUp™. ButchUp™ helps in those trying times when you feel like you need a Motrin & a foot massage from Fabio. Just take one ButchUp™ & you’ll instantly stop making pathetic bleating noises, & you might even lose your taste for Rosé wines & bonbons.
Nick is commenting that he is not allowed to comment.
It’s a whole different mindset I guess. I’ve been banned from a weblog or two, & I simply close that tab & never visit again. Life’s too short to bother.
Waiting for NikfromNYC to respond to the challenge …
…
– [crickets chirping] –
I’m banned here you idiot. I’ve been pointing that out in my recent posts. Everything goes into moderation and then rarely appears. I have zero ability to respond in real time. Hey, what is idiotic about asking for plots? Hey, what is idiotic about my recent DEBUNKING of Steve’s two year old hockey stick of “adjustments.”
Now my Twitter log on works. Gee, so noble of you Steve.
What type of response is there to an ad hominem attack but to point it out as being such and thus being invalid?
Recently I fully *debunked* his two year long posts of a false hockey stick of adjustments. Similar to this post, he back then called me crazy for even suggesting a problem. Then the main WUWT blog picked up on it and the guys with appropriate software actually did the detailed math to show his rookie mistake.
Steve is the one vested in keeping the scam alive by making a mess of skepticism, making far out claims without showing the work, claiming that since his code is available, he is immune to criticism. How did that work out for two YEARS, Steve, as you presented a *false* hockey stick of adjustments, embarrassing skepticism in general? No, you must show your work yourself since few have the software set up or the free time to check your cryptic claims.
And yes, I *do* have a problem with a crackpot posting on a popular skeptical blog, who is a notorious child rapist to boot. It’s a terrible thing for the reputation of skeptics.
This blog has gone off the deep end with pure political tribalism.
All this noise but Steve won’t show the full plots of the stations involved and that spells scam. He’s just fishing for hockey sticks like any other amateur hour hack, hurling insults at those who try to rein him in a bit, show him how it’s done right.
I don’t even have a blog. What investment do *I* have in keeping any scam alive, as I work like crazy to bring more rigor to skeptical arguments? I have no shock jock web ranking scheme to maintain, like he does.
Basically, Nick is listening to morons on other sites and not comprehending how stupid they are.
The temperature adjustment graphs are correct. You need to stop listening to idiots.
“I’m banned here you idiot.”
Um … obviously not. So who is the idiot now?
Clearly observations are a difficult concept for you to comprehend, much like simple language and basic mathematics.
I’m not a vegetarian. I make my own beef jerky and am currently braising ribs on the stove top with shittake mushrooms and cocktail onions. It’s Steve who is a damn vegetarian.
Nik, do you regularly see a shrink, or do just fantasize about ranting with Mosher?
Ribs with shiitake mushrooms and cocktail onions? Om ñom ñom ñom!
Ever had liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti?
Keep the liver – I will take the fava beans and Chianti (my favorite wine – when I can find it).
Reblogged this on Edonurwayup's Blog and commented:
So funny.
Steve writes: “Nik, go back and tell your whiny friends to debate me here instead of stabbing me in the back.”
Dude, dude, dude, wake up and smell the corpses you keep posting here, from concentration camps. Smell the crap on the registered child rapist penis of your main early bird crackpot Iron Man poster here. That’s what my “whiny friends” have a problem with, you know, working academic scientists who don’t want to be *associated* with the stench of filth and fantastic conspiracy theories on top of everyday corruption of science no different from the cholesterol theory of heart disease.
Basic math isn’t what I have confusion with. It’s the actual detailed and likely complex *nature* of the infilling you have created a hockey stick out of. Nobody is checking your work because you are a known hack and that is a waste of their time, so your claim that merely offering your code is not enough. You have to make a detailed argument that shows that you have moved beyond your rookie days, so you can earn back a reputation.
I tried to help, and as such am your biggest supporter, which the tribalists here cannot even fathom, as you suffer from blatant egomania.
You have no scientific halo, “Steve.” Nobody does!
You said my temperature adjustments graphs are incorrect. Instead of posting a bunch of bullshit, back up your claims.
Folks, it is really simple. If Nik is so “special” (yup, I know all the NYC folks are), and he is so intelligent (almost as much as the Jersey Boys, LMAO), then he only has to start his own blog.
Wow, Nik–start your own blog and you will make billions. (I release you from any finder’s fee.)
Ok, unless Nic can demonstrate some intelligence with his/her acid, I, not being a Nazi, would approve of a 30-day suspension.
He/she is funny, but he/she is also distracting.
Just my opinion, but, I’m not from a big city….
My dentist is a Nik, actually Nikita, quite a gal. She really is a PhD though.
If this was my dentist I would make a lot of appointments …
