Global Temperatures Continue Their 18 Year Decline

NOAA is desperately trying to make 2014 the hottest year ever, but more accurate satellite data shows that it isn’t going to come close, and continues an 18 year cooling trend.

This is a good report from SuspiciousObservers on the pause giving credit to WUWT and JoNova for their efforts. Certainly, a number of points have been made here at this blog. Amazing that in Australia the reasons for manipulating the temeperature records are classified.

OK so we screwed up on the children won’t know what snow looks like but we’re making a science fiction movie that fantasizes about snow disappearing by 2393 to make up for the mistake and you will just have to put reality aside and trust our science fiction or we will attack you for being a brainless denier. 🙂

“Global Temperature Anomaly” is a statistical spin-doctor concept, with no physical meaning.

The important region for any truly GLOBAL warming is the tropical oceans, and they have not been warming for at least 25 years. There has been some warming in cold and dry Northern and polar regions, but they don’t produce enough extra water vapour to turn modest AGW into CAGW.

“Global Temperature Anomaly” gives equal weight to all regions and disguises the fact that we’ve only had regional (not global) warming.

  4. Steve Case says:

“… in Australia the reasons for manipulating the temperature records are classified”

Please someone, please tell me that really isn’t true.

  5. Zero Names storms this year… despite NOAA telling the climate to behave badly this year..

We know that Warmists will never admit that CO2 cannot warm the planet. But, at what point will Luke-Warmists admit that CO2 can not warm the planet?

    • mjc says:

The fence-sitters need to make up their minds. They need to learn that there is right and wrong…and no ‘middle ground’. This quasi-maybe-a portion of it BS that has even more convoluted manpulations to make it ‘work’ than CAGW itself isn’t doing anyone any good. And in the long run, it’s hurting everyone trying to put a stake through the heart of blood sucking, money sucking monster that the IPCC et al is.

    • CO2 raises the temperature of the lower atmosphere, and you make skeptics look like idiots when you say otherwise.

      • Eric Barnes says:

IMO, a more accurate statement about CO2 is “Increasing concentrations of CO2 change atmospheric circulation”.
Consider your own graphs of Max temps (cooling) vs. Min Temps (somewhat stronger warming). To say that CO2 warms the lower atmosphere is not entirely correct and adds little to understanding (unless you are banging a drum for grant money).

        Just my 2 cents

        • Eric Barnes says:

I’ve been trying to come up with some analysis of hourly station data http://gcmd.nasa.gov/records/GCMD_gov.noaa.ncdc.C00532.html that would further enlighten the effects of CO2 on circulation and on the hourly temperature profile.

One thought I’d had was to find or rank the top days in terms of MAX/MIN difference over the duration of stations data. My hypothesis is that those days will be heavily weighted towards lower CO2 concentration years.

Wish I had some time for that. 🙂

A radiative absorptive molecule can NOT raise the temperature of anything below its energy level. CO2 is NOT “magic”.

      • DedaEda says:

CO2 act as delay line. It just keep some heat for a little longer before it is re-radiated back to Space. It “makes dusk little warmer, but does nothing for the morning”

      I’m confused.
In the state with the most gas (and oil) in the US, Austin City Council mandated that they must build and buy 600 Mw of solar generated electricity by 2017 and be 100% solar by 2030.
      And it employs 800 people.
In a population of almost 2 million?
Gee, that will get the economy going.

      • No worries. A couple of years in a re-education camp would clear up all confusion and teach you to think progressively.

The People’s Republic of Austin “workers, people of faith, low-income residents, clean energy supporters and environmental advocates” cheer the city’s plan. You, too, should learn to cheer properly. The Progressive planners may be coming to your neighborhood next.

The planners of our People’s Republic of Boulder no longer organize such public cheering events. They are busy working on the seizure of the electrical utility’s assets and the creation of a socially just People’s Green Power for a bright, carbon-neutral future:

In the comments is a real gem:

          Johnnytrots

“Boulder officials said they hope this move will assuage concerns from customers in Boulder County ”

          +

” Boulder is asking a judge to uphold its constitutional authority to condemn property even outside city limits”

          =

a calculated move to first take over the system, then fish for a judge who will grant them unprecedented interpretations of the eminent domain law and eventually get what they wanted in smaller battles instead of a giant war.

So this property is not even within the area under the city’s jurisdiction!

WATCH OUT CANADA! This means Californicate, if they get a smidgen of electrical power from you can take over your power plants by eminent domain….

One wonders what has happened to the guys in on the ground floor. Remember Al Gore has already left green energy stage left and is investing in natural gas.

Maurice Strong, Al Gore and Molten Metals comes to mind. I wonder if this was the trial run for the scam?

“With Al Gore’s Earth Day as a Wall Street calling card, Molten Metal’s stock value soared to $35 a share, a range it maintained through October 1996. But along the way, DOE scientists had balked at further funding. When in March 1996, corporate officers concluded that the federal cash cow was about to run dry, they took action: Between that date and October 1996, seven corporate officers—including Maurice strong—sold off $15.3 million in personal shares in the company, at top market value. On Oct. 20, 1996—a Sunday—the company issued a press release, announcing for the first time, that DOE funding would be vastly scaled back, and reported the bad news on a conference call with stockbrokers.

“On Monday, the stock plunged by 49%, soon landing at $5 a share. By early 1997, furious stockholders had filed a class action suit against the company and its directors. Ironically, one of the class action lawyers had tangled with Maurice strong in another insider trading case, involving a Swiss company called AZL Resources, chaired by Strong, who was also a lead shareholder. The AZL case closely mirrored Molten Metal, and in the end, Strong and the other AZL partners agreed to pay $5 million to dodge a jury verdict, when eyewitness evidence surfaced of Strong’s role in scamming the value of the company stock up into the stratosphere, before selling it off.

Pump and dump. It’s as old as markets.

        Caveat emptor / ? k æ v i? ?? t ? ? m p t ?r / is Latin for “Let the buyer beware” (from caveat, “may he beware”, the subjunctive of cavere, “to beware” + emptor, “buyer”).
