My Begonia survived Gavin’s hottest August ever. I’m going to buy it a T-Shirt

Ours have thrived this year!
Congratulations!
Excellent, mine have expired through neglect.
O/T You’ve made a couple postings on tomorrow’s referendum in Scotland so thought this might be of interest.

For getting kicked around, ‘cooked’ and generally beat up, it looks pretty good.
Your begonia is an evil denier.
The activists will take credit. It could have been much worse.
Just pure luck. The searing heat must have by-passed your geranium and warmed Gavin’s backside. I think that’s where emits most heat and we all know that as temps increase so does it’s emission from TOA. Top of ass
Mine survived the 25 cm of snow and -5C temps last week…i brought them into the garage for safety…
I don’t have no Begonias and probably never will. Have plenty of other stuff to take care of. Just got the front and two sides of the house redone this warm season. West ,north, and south sides remove old mulch, grade dirt sloped away from the foundation, put down heavy plastic and then 3″ of river rock lined with redish castle rock. Regraveled the drive with hard long lasting limestone called “state 8s”. New security door and wrought iron railing at the front entrance. Took down the aluminum shutters and had them powder coated the same as the door and railing and finally today got railing and shutters installed.
Still plenty to do though.
“I’m going to buy it a tee shirt.”
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
How about a tee shirt that reads: “I (heart shape) CO2”
Unusual Global Warming event last Thursday
Published: Wednesday, September 17th, 2014
Well so much for so-called Global Warming, in this part of the woods anyway. Last year we had 18 inches to three feet of snow, depending where you were in the Hills, from a storm that started Oct. 4, which pretty much put a halt to all activity. Cattle wet from the initial rain perished when temperatures dropped and snow drove them into low spots where they were buried and suffocated. Everyone thought Oct. 4 was a bit early for such a winter event and many were caught off guard.Last Thursday it started snowing early in the morning and by daylight we had 7-9 inches of snow on the ground, again depending on where you lived in the Custer area. This time we broke a record that has stood since 1888 when records started to be kept, and made national news on such outlets as the Weather Channel and national and cable networks. It’s still summer, for crying out loud! If this is any indication of what our winter will be like, we’re in for another long one.The National Weather Service in Rapid City said there were reports of seven inches of snow north of Custer early last Thursday. We can attest to that as we had more than that at our house south of Custer that same time. Tree branches were really sagging under the heavy, wet snow load. Thankfully there wasn’t any ice to freeze on the power lines and the wind was not blowing. Blacktop and concrete surfaces still retained some heat, so the snow that did fall melted when it hit the ground. We don’t know about you, but we are getting a little tired of all the so-called global warming scare tactics. We puny humans are supposed to be responsible for all the higher levels of carbon monoxide emissions which is supposed to be causing this global phenomenon perpetrated by the likes of former vice president Al Gore. Fifty years ago were were being warned of the coming ice age where we were all destined to freeze to death on this planet.Climate change is a fact of life and will continue with its ups and downs. Right now in the Black Hills, the seasons seem to be a little out of whack. Winter is going right into summer, skipping spring and fall. Summers are becoming much shorter and cooler (we only had two 90 degree days this summer) than usual and it’s anybody’s guess what fall will be like this year. Surely, it would be great if fall would last at least through October like it normally does. Fall officially starts Monday, Sept. 22, and it would be great to have a long one this year with warm, sunny days. Sure, the nights get a little chilly, but those fall days make the season our favorite one of the year here in the Southern Black Hills. As far as global warming goes, a group of 15 scientists and meteorologists recently put forth a rebuttal to the Obama administration’s climate report which said the U.S. is already being harmed by global warming. Scientists skeptical that mankind is causing the earth’s climate to change say that such claims are based on false theories and flawed models. The White House report is a “masterpiece of marketing” that is trying to scare people into action, scientists said.“As independent scientists, we know that apparent evidence of ‘Climate Change,’ however scary, is not proof of anything,” wrote the 15 scientists and meteorologists, including Dr. George Wolff, who formerly chaired the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee. In other words, humans are not responsible for climate change which is happening, whether we like it or not. It’s kind of like the weather in the Black Hills.

Yeah, De Paus, greetings from your neighbor state …
Didn’t have quite as much snow but, yeah, the begonias here needed a fur coat, mukluks, and a knit cap.
The weeds, however, are still doing just fine.
Begonias are known Deniers. Never trust them.
