The UN begins their meeting tomorrow in New York to stop global warming, with temperatures forecast to be 26 degrees cooler than they were on the same date in 1895, 95 degrees vs. a forecast 69 for tomorrow.
Peak September 20 temperatures in New York have dropped about 5 degrees over the past 75 years. New York was much warmer this time of year – back when the UN was founded.
The UN could end global warming, by simply demanding that government agencies stop tampering with data to cool the past.
It is going to be 83 degrees in Manhattan today.
A cold front is pushing warmer air in front, it will be cool tomorrow after some thunderstorms.
It is “going to be” 150 degrees by the year 2100. Forecast temperature in Central Park is 79 today.

Seriously, I lived in downtown NYC for a number of years. The 1970’s was bitter cold! At the plaza of the WTC buildings, it was like Siberia when the centers opened and my husband worked there.

Lets see what data comes in later .. Climate March scientists estimate a crowd forecast of 100,000 people. I have a funny feeling that it will be sort of similar to temperature, an overestimate with actual numbers much lower, and then a fudging of numbers after the fact, say add all people in Manhattan not at March, estimates from bridge/subway traffic. waiting data …

I saw a media report saying 30-40,000
Most of those people marching were tourists and UN staff.
Maybe they should combine it with a football game next time.

That 30-40,000 in paper over estimate in media was for crowd in Melbourne OZ, some eye witnesses have estimates at 2,000 people, but larger crowds make better reading. The fact that they are closer to Antarctic with record +1.762 million sq. km sea ice area anomaly today could be cooling things down under.with sea ice extent just south almost 3x size of OZ continent land mass at record and growing this week about twice size of . Tasmania a day. I think this must be a success for all the watermelon environmentalists as higher electricity prices to reduce CO2 under prior gov. ended lowering energy use – success ice cap near all time satellite record high down under – or they could not afford to come to protest since had to pay electric bill instead of for gas.
Almost every major news outlet reported that 310,000 people showed up for Climate March in NYC as “official count.” Source of that official number was an afternoon press release by the event organizers, http://peoplesclimate.org/press-release/official-crowd-count-310000-join-peoples-climate-march-in-new-york-city/ who said in website media outlet “… Relying on a crowd density analysis formula developed by a professor of game theory and complex systems at Carnegie Mellon University, the official attendee count calculates the average density of the march crowd over specific intervals, factoring in the surface area covered by the crowd and the speed and duration of the march.” This was chopped and pasted in maybe in hundreds of news articles. Some cited source, most did not. Since then, latest press release from peoplesclimate.org updated to 400,000 (organizer eyewitness estimates) reported in media as facts.
So just take it as fact like manipulated temp data “history” from GISS dropping rural stations maximizing urban heat island effect (within statistical error range) of warming of + 1/8 C a decade unnoticeable to population.
NYT with a better inside liberal connection reported “Organizers, using data provided by 35 crowd spotters and analyzed by a mathematician from Carnegie Mellon University, estimated that 311,000 people marched the route.”
So lets see, they had unbiased crowd counters counting persons passing, gathered data in an hour, reported and compiled, someone else did a complex numerical computer analysis using game theory which came from some university, number out on total crowd size after an hour, great science on crowd size, a press release by organizers, no name of who crunched numbers, no data from crowd spotters, or on how got estimates from that, revisions upward 25% later, so much on peer review, well planned propaganda for media by crowd on crowd size becomes fact for record – this is science at best, well planned science of manipulating media. Newspapers eat up since a bigger crowd like bigger anomaly in temp (up or down) is a bigger news story, thank TH for the century of inflated news on latter. I sort of liked crowd size estimates from satellite for Egypt for protests the other year.
Did anyone do a carbon footprint on Climate March for driving and busing in sheep? Would like to see metric ton added CO2 to atmosphere estimate, which would be about same as decrease in atmospheric O2 (O, O3) no one talks about. PPM about same, and O2 reduced (converted to CO2) is a greenhouse gas, reduced O2 footprint too?, but I guess that O decrease also unlike CO2 increases also lowers stratospheric temp (which is at anomaly lower temp higher up in atmosphere) letting more light in on troposphere, so in out on electromagnetic spectrum, cannot have both ways on greenhouse out – more CO2 and less O2 at longer length waver\s, 8-15 microns, reflecting back in “greenhouse.” Still would like to see carbon footprint of rally.
There seems to be some misunderstanding. The UN has no intention of ever ending Global Warming. The UN wants climate action, by that I mean climate funding.
Luckily they banned the massive methane generating(MMG) four legged SUV’s after 1900 in New York. Otherwise NY city would now be 101 Celsius AND underwater too!

If you begin a scientific inquiry with a preferred outcome, and emotional investment in your preferred outcome, it is going to impede your ability to properly interpret the data. When it comes to science topics that you can’t be objective about, at least have the decency to stay out of the conversation.
In particular, it is extremely arbitrary to compare only the month of September in a single city from 1985 with the month of September in a single city from 2014. It is also very arbitrary to focus on the maximum temperature in September in a single city over time. I could explain why, but you need to calm down and care about reality over your own desires and opinions first. If you really want to know the facts are not difficult to find. But if you really wanted to know I suspect you wouldn’t be writing things like this in the first place. Go back to sleep.
