People’s Climate March, NYC Sept. 21

The climate change struggle, and related environmental struggles, have become more important over the last few years, and will become even more so as climate change exacerbates storms, forest fires, water stresses, fishery collapses, and other environmental problems.

People around the world, and right here in our country, increasingly feel the effects of climate change. Hundred-year storms and droughts now occur almost every year. The entire state of California is suffering from prolonged drought. Funds to fight fires are running out due to the increasing number and intensity of forest fires especially in the West.

There are 1000 organizations in the People’s Climate March, NYC Sept. 21, I’m sure you can find another group if you don’t want to march with the commies.

      • Gail Combs says:

        Bob,

All you are telling us is that the Commies (KGB) have infiltrated 1000 other organizations not that that comes as a surprise after the April 1994 article in the WSJ stated papers in the Kremlin showed ‘grassroots’ organizations here in the USA were not only funded by the KGB but LEAD by the KGB.

Sydney Hook, an American communist, who studied his faith in Soviet schools for foreigners, later rejected Soviet totalitarianism and went on to craft a career as a “philosopher,” explained the necessity for Lenin to practice conspiracy, covert influence, and infiltration:

Infiltration into the key positions of trade unions, cooperatives, and citizens’ groups must be skillfully planned especially in sensitive areas. Sympathizers and fellow-travelers are to be groomed to show a false face to the enemy. Popular issues are to be exploited to fan discontent with the status quo into raging hostility.

From the book Willing Accomplices: How KGB Covert Influence Agents Created Political Correctness and Destroyed America by Kent Clizbe

        • bobmaginnis says:

Gail, the commies wouldn’t do the People’s Climate March on their own, but will tag along to try to advance their party on the hard work of many other folks who have no interest in communism. BTW, if there is any vandalism during the march, I will assume it will be the work of goon hired by the Kochs etc, to discredit the marchers.

        • … if there is any vandalism during the march, I will assume it will be the work of goon hired by the Kochs etc, to discredit the marchers.

Why in the world does anyone volunteer such a damning thing about the state of his mind?

The ‘Goons’ are hired by the government who wants to advance totalitarianism. The Koch’s brothers are Objectivists or at least Libertarians so I am afraid you have, your logic donkey backwards.

You really do need to stop getting your opinions from the bankster owned MSM.

Geran and Gail, during the 1999 WTO Seattle protests
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Seattle_WTO_protests
there were vandalizing provocateurs, who when exposed by the peaceful marchers, retreated to the safety of the police lines. The police didn’t try to stop the window smashers, and the vandalism made the news more than the efforts of thousands of peaceful protesters.

BTW, I would assume you are against our giving up our sovereignty to a World Trade Organization, but wouldn’t likely march because there were commies and hippies?

Anyway, I suspect there will be some vandal provocateurs in the next march.

        • Gail Combs says:

          Bob,
          It depends on the issue.

On some issues I have sided with the “hippies” I generally buy local/organic if I can and one of our favorite restaurants is so red/green it would give a lot of folks here hives just to walk passed it.

I try to focus on the guys pulling the strings. I suggest you read “Evil Socialism” vs “Evil Capitalism”

I am not a Republican I am an INDEPENDENT.

        • Gail Combs says:

          bobmaginnis,

I should also note that I differentiate between the Useful Idiots like my friend Dave, a member of the Communist party that spent all of his spare time at The Boston Food Bank helping get food to the poor and homeless. This of course is the face COmmunist try to portray.

But there is another face typified by an old dance partner from Cambridge who stated, “When we take over, We will kill people like you”

He is the variety of Communist Dr. R.J. Rummel speaks of when he talks of Democide: Death by Government. The type of Communist who would have no trouble with a government who ” tortured, beat to death, hung, shot, buried alive, burned, starved to death, stabbed, chopped into pieces, and murdered in all the other ways creative and imaginative human beings can devise, men, women, and children by the tens of millions” A person who would no doubt cheerfully join in slaughtering innocents whose only crime was not being sheeple and trying to protect what is theirs. Until of course he found himself on the wrong end of the gun or knife or rope.

Bob, you appear to be very good at “cherry-picking” your protests. Most Libs are also very good at “cherry-picking” the temperature data.

Kinda tells us something about “belief systems”, huh?

      • Justa Joe says:

They’re all 1000 “organizations” pretty much commies in my book. The agenda of the commies only diverges from that of the warmists’ in superficial ways.

  2. au1corsair says:

So economic and political equality for the masses have been achieved already? Those two excuses were the communist party’s reason for existing–economic and political equality. Prematurely adding tasks without increasing resources (aka “mission creep”) guarantees mission failure. Of course if ‘the people’ have equal political and economic clout vis a vis the elites, then there’s little reason for the communist party to keep fighting for the establishment of political and economic equality–and communist can renounce communism and join the green parties.

Am I guilty of applying logic where logic doesn’t apply–again?

    • Boulder Progressives can’t make the date. On September 21 they’ll be busy with the liquidation of local kulaks and the collectivization of their farms in the People’s Republic.

    • B says:

The problem with a collective is that someone has to run it. If someone has to run it then there can’t be political equality. And since a collective means political power over the economy there can’t be economic equality either.

      • Gail Combs says:

Karl Marx was actually talking about economic & political equality = SERFDOM, a return to feudalism mapped out today as Agenda 21.

“The bourgeoisie, [middleclass] wherever it has got the upper hand, has put an end to all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his ‘natural superiors,’ and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked self-interest, callous ‘cash payment.’ It has drowned the most heavenly ecstasies of religious fervor, of chivalrous enthusiasm, of philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation. It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom—Free Trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.

The bourgeoisie has stripped of its halo every occupation hitherto honored and looked up to with reverent awe. It has converted the physician, the lawyer, the priest, the poet, the man of science, into its paid wage laborers.

The bourgeoisie has torn away from the family its sentimental veil, and has reduced the family relation to a mere money relation.”
? Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto

No. All war is decption. What the CP does is standard Cultural Marxism warfare as planned by Markuse, Horkheimer, Adorno (Frankfurt School). Exploit Ersatz grievance groups in the absence of proletarians (industrial workers) as cannon fodder for the revolution.

This -warmism- of course looks like a nonstarter; feminism and LGBT are much more successful in destroying the host culture.

And the eviro-movement is showing it’s true colors, red.

    • Toppelton Geardom says:

So Theodore Roosevelt, a leader in the Republican party, naturalist, the first president to speak out on conservation, and who greatly expanded the system of national parks and national forests — was red?

And Richard Nixon, who was the President when the EPA was created — was red?

Sorry, but the environment is like Jesus. People always try to hitch their political agendas to something that is of itself good.

      • Conservationism and modern environmentalism are not the same thing. If you disagree, I’d be happy to engage in a discussion. We don’t need to discuss the political opportunism of common scoundrels—we agree completely on that.

      • James the Elder says:

Roosevelt was a “progressive” anti-capitalist, anti-consumerist who longed for empire. Look it up; lots of books out there now. He also thought the “inferior races” should be taken care of (controlled) by the whites. Sorta like now.

        • Gail Combs says:

Thanks, now I won’t have to point that out.

Republican =/= NOT a Comunist, progressive socialist.

That is why we call a lot of them RINOs

      • rah says:

Most “environmentalists” are pasty faced city slicker tools of the collectivists. If they actually spent a whole lot of time outdoors they would be a whole lot more skeptical of the trash that their buying in to. Now most conversationalists are people like farmers and woodsmen and others that actually make their living outdoors in concert with nature or are responsible outdoors sportsmen/ women that have spent a fair amount of time in the wilderness.

Environmentalism is a movement with the common objective of more government power. Conservationism is a way of life with the object of preserving the wilds while allowing for their controlled and common sense use for enjoyment the citizens.

I am proud to call my self a conservationist that despises most environmentalists.

And as for Teddy Roosevelt my take is a little different from James. Roosevelt while believing strongly in the Monroe doctrine was not a proponent of American colonialism. And though there were things I do not agree with him on, his conversationalist activities is certainly not one of them. He lived in the days of the Robber barons that would rape the land and anything else for profit. He, unlike most “environmentalists” most certainly lived the outdoor life from the untamed west to Africa to the Amazon he traveled wide to see the natural world and appreciated it as any great hunter does.

        • there is no substitute for victory says:

No less a bastion of Fascism and other Right Wing Nuts than the New York Times recently had an article called “Mommas Don’t Let Your Children Grow to Be Farmers.

The truth behind the title is that the median farm income is almost a big fat MINUS $2,000. These people mostly represent make-believe farmers who are mostly into tax dodging behaviors. The “Locavore, Organic, and gentleman farmer movements are the worst offenders in this respect.

        • B says:

At some point the wealthy robber baron so-called elite started using conservation. Donating vast lands to the government and thus the taxpayer ended up with the expense of managing it. However any time there’s a desire to strip government land of resources government seems to allow some crony corporation or another to do so.

      • mjc says:

Repbublican is only a name…not all of them are ‘good’, just like not all Democrats are ‘bad’. It’s what each individual stands for that matters…and in today’s terms, Teddy was about as liberal…ummm….’Progressive’ as they come.

As to Nixon and the EPA…didn’t have much choice there. Even if he didn’t do it with an executive order, there were enough votes in Congress to do ‘something’ similar…and that would have been outside his (Nixon’s) control. The leading Congressional ‘environment’ folks were Democrats…so it was pretty much thought that if left to Congress, it would be something controlled by that party (ended up that way, anyway…hasn’t it?).

Environmentalism is a bunch of city folks without a clue and a bunch of misplaced guilt, ruled by a group of anti-humans who think the worst thing on the planet is the rest of their species, who think they should be king.

      • Password protected says:

Protecting our environment is priceless. What is being “hitched to” is a unproven bit of science. The upshot of which, if the science were true, would mean a level of control over the basic productivity and well being of large populations.

      • Keitho says:

Putting the environment ahead of humans is . . inhumane. The world is for us all, rich and poor alike, why should the rich be able to place large parts of the Earth out of bounds to ordinary folk. Rich people who just want a pristine place, empty of people, to walk around and enjoy the sunset in?

Environmentalism is the ultimate bourgois pursuit whose protagonists have got all they need and wish to deny it to the rest of us. Comrade.

      • nielszoo says:

      • Keitho says:

Thanks for the Mises link BTW Gail. Very interesting indeed.

        • Gail Combs says:

          You are welcome.

Many of us can identify problems but few can come up with workable solutions. Gary North (Mises on Money) does a great service by making Mises and his ideas accessible to those with limited interest and time. Gary North has a lot of great stuff in his own right too. Here is an interesting one. link

Fact: it does no good to get the word out unless you have a very explicit, tightly focused program to mobilize people after you get the word out….

We have limited resources. It is very easy to waste resources. This is why a marketing campaign is necessary: to conserve resources. There must be a specific, measurable goal for the expenditures. There must be success indicators….

Those who promote the official version also have multiple motivations. But they have a huge advantage: government money, government power, and the mainstream media, which fear government power and want in on government money.

Most people do not have time to re-think every government position. Even with the big positions, people do not have time to re-think them in detail. They sense the personal cost of such investigations. If they ever figured out that they have been lied to deliberately, they might lose faith in the government. This is like abandoning the religion of your youth. The costs are high. The older you are, the more emotional capital is invested in this “market.” To abandon faith in the official line means admitting that you had previously fallen for a grand deception. You were played the sucker. You were, in Lee Harvey Oswald’s now-famous term, a “patsy.”

There is an old line: “You cannot change just one thing.” When you abandon faith in the broad outline of the government’s official explanation, you then feel as though you must offer a better one. This opens up a huge can of worms. This may take you down rabbit trails. Then this may take you down rabbit holes. You may be like Alice. You may enter Wonderland. You may never re-emerge.

I know that once I figured out the government was lying to me the scales fell from my eyes and I started questioning all the stuff I had previously taken as gospel. I started digging trying to figure out who, why, when… This maybe the biggest threat of the CAGW scam to the elite.

  9. higley7 says:

“Hundred-year storms and droughts now occur almost every year.”
Lies, lies, anymore lies. This is simply propaganda.

“The entire state of California is suffering from prolonged drought.”
California has a problem. That region spends 400 out of 500 years in drought. They just had their 100 years of wet, now it’s dry time. This has nothing to do with global warming, but more like the larger climate swings evident with the Medieval Warm Period, the Little Ice Age, and the Modern Warm Period.

  10. Andy DC says:

Hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires have largely been missing in action by historical standards. Drought restircted to an unusually small area. Record corn and soybean crops. An argument can be made that in terms of weather in the US, we never had it so good!

Stalin knew how to control science in the old USSR via lock-step consensus science. That technique was applied worldwide after the UN was formed on 24 Oct 1945.

To hide the source of energy in cores of heavy atoms and stars, in 1946 the Sun’s internal composition suddenly changed from

    1. Mostly iron (Fe) in 1945 to
    2. Mostly hydrogen (H) in 1946

Toldya so. It’s no coincidence the “global warming” boogeyman was cooked up as the Soviet empire was undergoing perestroika and collapse, ca. 1990. The global gov’t hopesters needed a new “enemy” to scare us with. Communists and warmers, unite.

    • Gail Combs says:

It was cooked up in 1968 by the Club of Rome and went public in 1972 in their book entitled The Limits to Growth and at the 1972 UN First Earth Summit by chaired by Club Member Maurice Strong.

Note this was BEFORE the ice age scare and the 1974 CIA report

“In 1972 the Intelligence Community was faced with two issues concerning climatology…
“… Since 1972 the grain crisis has intensified…. Since 1969 the storage of grain has decreased from 600 million metric tons to less than 100 million metric tons – a 30 day supply… many governments have gone to great lengths to hide their agricultural predicaments from other countries as well as from their own people…
      pg 9
The archaeologists and climatotologists document a rather grim history… There is considerable evidence that these empires may not have been undone by barbarian invaders but by climatic change…. has tied several of these declines to specific global cool periods, major and minor…

Elaine Dewar wrote in Toronto’s Saturday Night magazine about the 1972 Earth Summit:

It is instructive to read Strong’s 1972 Stockholm speech and compare it with the issues of Earth Summit 1992. Strong warned urgently about global warming, the devastation of forests, the loss of biodiversity, polluted oceans, the population time bomb. Then as now, he invited to the conference the brand-new environmental NGOs [non-governmental organizations]: he gave them money to come; they were invited to raise hell at home. After Stockholm, environment issues became part of the administrative framework in Canada, the U.S., Britain, and Europe.

IN the meantime, Strong continued the international networking on which his influence rests. He became a member of the World Commission on Environment and Development (the Brundtland Commission). He found time to serve as president of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, on the executive committee of the Society for International Development, and as an advisor to the Rockefeller Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund. Above all, he served on the Commission on Global Governance — which, as we shall see, plays a crucial part in the international power grab. link

The Club of Rome was founded in 1968 at David Rockefeller’s estate in Bellagio, Italy. The Club of Rome describes itself as “a group of world citizens, sharing a common concern for the future of humanity.” consisting of UN bureaucrats, high-level politicians and government officials, scientists, economists, and business leaders from around the globe.

The common enemy of humanity is man.
In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”
      – Club of Rome The First Global Revolution

The Club of Rome claims that “we are facing an imminent catastrophic ecological collapse” and “our only hope is to transform humanity into a global interdependent sustainable society, based on respect and reverence for the Earth.” If that sounds like Global Warming and Agenda 21 it is. The recommendations of the Club of Rome have been adopted as official UN and government policy around the world.

“If the present growth trends in world population, industrialization, pollution, food production, and resource depletion continue unchanged, the limits to growth on this planet will be reached sometime within the next one hundred years. The most probable result will be a rather sudden and uncontrollable decline in both population and industrial capacity…..

The overwhelming growth in world population caused by the positive birth-rate loop is a recent phenomenon, a result of mankind’s very successful reduction of worldwide mortality. The controlling negative feedback loop has been weakened, allowing the positive loop to operate virtually without constraint….

The result of stopping population growth in 1975 and industrial capital growth in 1985 with no other changes is that population and capital reach constant values at a relatively high level of food, industrial output and services per person. Eventually, however, resource shortages reduce industrial output and the temporarily stable state degenerates.” [That explains the destruction of the US manufacturing base starting in the mid seventies.]

Man possesses, for a small moment in his history, the most powerful combination of knowledge, tools, and resources the world has ever known. He has all that is physically necessary to create a totally new form of human society – one that would be built to last for generations. The two missing ingredients are a realistic, long-term goal that can guide mankind to the equilibrium society and the Human Will to achieve that goal.

Without such a goal and a commitment to it, short-term concerns will generate the exponential growth that drives the world system toward the limits of the earth and ultimate collapse. With that goal and that commitment, mankind would be ready now to begin a controlled, orderly transition from growth to global equilibrium.

    2. Heavy nuclei

Within a few months of the time the United Nations was formed on 24 Oct 1945 – only a few weeks after Stalin’s troops captured Japan’s atomic bomb plant at Konan, Korea in late August 1945 and Stalin emerged victorious from the ashes of WWII to expand Communism worldwide.
