Niel, it is just such a great shut-up because they are always claiming ‘Climate’ is long term and ‘Deniers’ are cherry picking short term weather events. Also 2.5 meters (over 7 feet) makes the claimed rise of about 3 mm/year worldwide. (0.12 inches) look like the noise in the system that it actually is.

You can’t use the mean of the tidal gauges and assume that total amount of subsidence will equal the total amount of uplift.
It probably is not correct to assume that sites are random enough that 50% are subsiding and 50% are up lifting so that the median corresponds to rising component in all of them, but it has to be a better estimate and it looks like it might be 0.

Unfortunately if the climateers actually were to take notice of all this climate data they would have to conclude that climate sensitivity is under 1 C/doubling. Which is harmless, since it is a logarithmic relationship. There isn’t enough fossil fuel in the ground to produce CO2 based warming of 2 C.
In such light it was interesting yesterday that one of our more excitable climateers Prof Matthew England of UNSW acknowledged publicly that the PDO was responsible for the run up in global temperature during 1978-1998. He failed to make the connection with sensitivity, but what it shows is they know quite well that late 20thC warming was due to the ~60 year cycle, not CO2. No climate scientist could not make that connection in their own mind. So they can no longer even profess ignorance. Which confirms they are perpetuating CAGW for unscientific reasons.

Seems the most likely cause was laziness to me. I thing that it was put into the “too hard” pile is probably the best explanation.
I don’t buy into it either Gail and I’m certainly no chemist. The claim of “acidification” is both intentionally misleading and fraudulent. But I’m just saying that in the case of Ocean pH data analysis being left out of the Congressional testimony in question I think it was just too much work to compile all that data let alone analyze it to drawl conclusions from it.

Regarding models: they should also stop pretending that increased model resolution provides a better result. It does not, as there’s no more real data going in, so more ‘invented’ data is used, making the result LESS reliable [h/t to Prof Tim Ball for making this point in his recent book.]. Notice that sunspot number is only one measurement of solar activity. That paper is quite an interesting read. However since sunspots are what most people are familiar with I will stick with them.
What the Warmists neglect is that the Modern grand maximum ended in cycle 22 not 23. 23 was a ‘transition cycle’ Notice 21 and 22 are ‘short’ cycles which is characteristic of strong cycles.
Cycle 21 started in June 1976 and lasted 10 years and 3 months.
Cycle 22 started in September 1986 and lasted 9 years and 8 months.
Cycle 23 started in May 1996 and lasted 12 years and 6 months.
Cycle 24 started in December 2008.
Notice the starting minima of 21 and 22 are stronger than that of 23 and the start of 24 is scraping bottom.

A dignified scientist / politician / journalist should read this post using basic scientific rigour to recognise the empirical evidence presented that massively contradicts the human CO2-derived “Global Warming” hypothesis/hysteria that has tragically become the greatest scientific scandal and subsequent environmental religion in the history of mankind.
The very fact that the exact (climatic) opposites are now occurring of what the ‘experts’ predicted time and time again would happen, should be enough to blow this scam out of the ball park for good.
