James Hansen is famous for lying to the press, and his protege Gavin Schmidt is following in his footsteps.
“Long-term trends in Antarctic temperature are perhaps slightly rising over the continent as a whole, but are quite variable,” Schmidt told Live Science in an email
This is the exact opposite of what he published in a peer-reviewed paper in 2004.

Perhaps Antarctica has warmed since 2004, reversing the trend he reported in 2004? Gavin’s own data shows that hasn’t happened.
Satellites show that southernmost latitudes have been cooling for 35 years.
Antarctic sea ice has been steadily growing over the past 35 years, and is near record levels now. This is occurring because the waters around Antarctica are cooling.
There is so much ice, that scientists trying to prove the ice is disappearing are getting stuck in it.
So why did Gavin tell the press that Antarctica is warming?

Tony, I am trying to get your take on these continues .01 adjustments. They do add up over time, and, AFAICT, their is no explanation offered for them. Have you heard of any official reason for these changes?

That pattern has been repeated over and over and over again.
It may be an interesting endeavor to chart NASA GISS annual budgets (Including stealth budget manouvers if possible). I suspect a hockey stick there too; at least in relative terms compared to other departments. Follow the money.

To my knowledge it is not publicly broken down by facility. Your question is a good one, and I plan to look as closely as possible at federal environmental “research” and propaganda expenditures back to FY 1994 (the earliest year for which legislation is available online). So far I have pulled down just 1994, and the total I have, across all agencies, is $21.37 billion.
Mind you, that includes all of NASA’s R&D budget, which totaled $7,509,300,000 that year, and all of their program management which is rolled up with research management and totaled $1,635,508,000. But I still think it’s an interesting angle, since more and more of NASA’s research & program costs are going to the Gavinesque side of the equation, as time passes. So I plan to pull a few more years and see if any acceleration is visible. When I have the results up, I’ll post a link to them here.

I should probably add that I also included all line items for passenger rail and for transit expenditures, which totaled $4,866,994,569. I also plan to include the subsidies for commercial wind and solar generation when they show up. (I saw none in fiscal ’94.)

Gavin is worse than Bernie Madoff. Bernie defrauded the gullible rich people in the 1%. Gavin has massively defrauded the 99% with this climate propaganda, many of whom are poor and struggling, as well as destroying the reputation of an honourable institution like NASA. Whoever the NASA oversight committee is, they are failing by not sacking Gavin forthwith, cleaning out the activists and returning the institution to fact based science.
