It is almost like BOM has no clue what they are talking about.

This drought may never break

No rain till April. What a joke! Australia is living up to its reputation as a land of extremes.

  2. Gerald Machnee says:

So is this rain caused by “climate change”.
    Or is it deliberately set?
    We need certain expert opinion.

  3. John of Cloverdale, WA, Australia says:

Seems to me, the oceans surrounding Australia may have something to do with it. One example, Sydney, on western side of the Pacific Ocean, has dry and wet weather cycles seemingly corresponding to the cycles of that ocean. Or, I could be wrong. It may correlate with the growth of cars in Sydney (sarc).

    Baghdad BOM.

  5. Steve Case says:

It is almost like BOM has no clue what they are talking about.

    Almost?

  6. GCSquared says:

NOW can we stop trusting them?

  7. OldFogey says:

    In Berowra (north Sydney) Feb 6 – 1″, Feb 7 – 4″, Feb 8 – 1.5″, Feb 9 – 9.5″ ie 16″ in the last four days. My back garden looks like a swamp !

  8. Rosco says:

Dorothea Mackellar wrote in 1904 :-

“I love a sunburnt country/A land of sweeping plains,/Of ragged mountain ranges,/Of droughts and flooding rains.”

The “never ending” millennial drought broke in 2010 to be followed by massive flooding in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

No surprise that the current drought has broken after a few years with flooding that the Bureau of Meterology had no clue about despite more than a century of evidence this would happen in the monsoon period of January to March.

    Stupid Beyond Belief !

  9. DCA says:

” ‘Perhaps we should call it our new climate’ said the Bureau of Meteorology’s head of climate analysis, David Jones.”

Meet the New Climate. Same as the Old Climate.

I get on my knees and pray, we don’t get fooled again.

  10. Errol says:

The Australian Bureau Of Meteorology (BOM) is no longer a weather service for the public. They have lost the capacity for weather forecasting and have become a Marxist “climate emergency” collective, making inaccurate predictions of doom and rewriting climate data. BOM disciples appear to self congratulate at new ways to provide climate emergency disinformation. The worst part is we taxpayers are paying their wages.

  11. ColA says:

The last week has seen rain and almost constant cloud cover for the last week or more on the Gold Coast it’s been great and wet, the garden is saturated and will go ballistic as the sun is out today!
My solar is useless (like most on the east coat), if you watched the amount of cloud covering such a huge extent of the East coast and not too much wind for nearly two weeks you might have cause to wonder how we would cope if we didn’t have dirty old coal to back us up! But the rain also got over the Divide and that is really the best news of all, it has not solved all the drought problems but many districts have full dams and some hope to keep them on their farms!

  12. Alexander MCCLINTOCK says:

Well before christmas a group of us were discussing when the drought here in Australia would end (significant rain). We wrote on the 2020 calendar when each of us predicted rain.
My wife said 14 February 2020 and so missed the timing by 4 days. She has been watching the weather and the Indian Ocean Dipole carefully, so it was not just a lucky guess (totaly) . This morning (10 February 2020) our 120,000 litre rain tank was completely full. :)
Should I offer her services to BOM as a soothsayer?

  13. Oztruthseeker says:

Yes, as the Dorothea Mackellar poem from 1904 says, a land of “drought and flooding rains”, in fact so much rain that even the big dams in the region that had dropped to 40% capacity are rapidly filling up. However more rain is needed to end the drought so let’s not claim another win against the falsehoods of the BOM and Alarmists just yet

  14. Don says:

    Oh my! 😂

  15. Damien Bates says:

You may call them a joke, but I can tell you they accurately predicted every single “spike day” this summer. Those are days of 38+ degrees C, humidity below 20% and strong winds. The fact the BoM was able to accurately predict these days well in advance no doubt saved many lives and I and most people I know who live in these effected areas are very grateful for their efforts and expertise.

I also recall months ago looking at the longer term rainfall forecasts and specifically remember February onwards returning to average, where many months prior to then we’d seen nothing but extremely low chances. Perhaps these comments are referring to the Murray Darling food bowl, which indeed hasn’t seen drought breaking rain at all.

  16. Anto says:

If you kept trying to sell stock market forecasts like this, you’d be hounded out of the industry.

  17. Aussie says:

    Tony
When I heard this first reported I immediately told my son to expect heavy rains.

Within two weeks we had record rain on the Gold Coast here. Now of course we have widespread heavy rain.

The BOM and the Environment Minister Sussan Ley are totally incompetent.

  18. arn says:

They can create artificial bushfires in Australia to prove a point
by sending out thousands of arsonists(only a tiny percentage of them got cought(the very dumb) and only very few of them admitted it(the dumbest among then)
but they can not get rid of the rain,
as cloud seeding still does not work that well.

  19. Stan Gold says:

How is it that the dsate on the newspaper claims to be january9, 2002, and the comments column on the left says December 11, 2019??
    Seems fishy !!!!

    • Vegieman says:

Stan, The February (not January) 9, 2020 (not 2002) is the current website date when the image was captured (click the link and you’ll see today’s date). The December 11, 2019 is the article publication date.
