Rapidly Disappearing Arctic Ice

On December 4, DMI showed Arctic sea ice volume above the 2004-2013 average.

I tweeted about this and copied BBC News, CNN, NPR and the New York Times.

Quite predictably, the data disappeared for three days, and now that it has returned, DMI has massively reduced the amount of sea ice in the Arctic. Much of the thick ice off the coast of Siberia has disappeared.

Presumably their data tampering has freed the Russian ships trapped in the ice.

It seems they are caught between appeasing high powers and properly informing people whose lives may depend on correct reports.

  2. Anon says:

That is actually a HUGE DECEPTION that folks need to be made aware of. The general thought was that DMI was a fairly straight shooter like UAH, so this proof of alteration makes them absolute garbage.

Next TPTB will be selling glass thermometers labeled in 10 degree increments, but with only 9 degrees between the ticks above the freezing point. (sigh)

YES. Why does Drudge link to this page?

I know, Drudge was bought out by libs. But what about Breitbart? Townhall? Somebody…

“Presumably their data tampering has freed the Russian ships trapped in the ice” lol good one Tony
I mentioned those ships & the early freeze up to some climate alarmists last week, actually. Hard to believe they’d manipulate the data/lie about it, but what other explanation is there?

Russia mulls foreign vessel ban along Northern Sea Route after rescuing several ships

Russia’s nuclear-powered icebreakers have successfully escorted over a dozen ships stuck on the Northern Sea Route, state operating company Atomflot said Dec. 7, with the country considering restricting activities of foreign vessels along the route.

Since mid-November, Russian icebreakers Vaygach and Taymyr have been involved in rescue operations to escort vessels stuck in Arctic waters, including Finland’s Kumpula, to the Kara Sea, due to ice forming two weeks earlier than seen in the previous seven years.

While NSIDC and DMI play around with their maps and graphs, the Russians are not fooled. Five massive nuke icebreakers are in various stages of construction. Soon to be two more?

  6. Thanks The DMI must be getting emails/texts/tweets from the alarmists as so many counter narrative sites use their data! Tony I’m having a discussion re: the the 1921 sea ice level as being lower than 2021 any references besides the anecdotal evidence? I have no doubt that sea ice could have been lower than today.

  7. Jørgen Keinicke says:

The new model, already heavily reduce ice volumen in the melting season. This is false because temperature in Artic in melting season is below average.

So the DMI is a new fraudster in town. Frightening.

  9. Tomas Weidemann Kammer says:

    Hi Tony.
DMI has a text on their website explaining the change in the modelling.
I’d be happy to provide you with a translation if you want?
It is a strange coincident that it lined up with your tweet, but according to them the new model has shifted the modelling season by approximately one month, so it will be interesting to see how it matches up come January.

E mail subscription problem. Glitch or other reason? Do not receive updates, only intermittently, if at all recently.

Canadian Government does not agree with the prognosis of doom for the ice. They continue to build new Ice Breakers. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/skyrocketing-shipbuilding-costs-continue-as-estimate-puts-icebreakers-costs-at-7-25b-1.5709930
