Junk Science Threatens An Informed Public

Six years ago, USA Today predicted the demise of  Adélie penguins due to global warming and declining sea ice.

There has been no meaningful trend in Antarctic temperature or sea ice since 1979, and the number of Adélie penguins has increased.

As the owner of a freshly minted PhD degree a sure-fire way to get your first papers published is to push the AGW agenda. Cherry-pick, trim, cook or make up data out of thin air? Doesn’t matter. Mann did the same thing and not only got published, he controls who are the editors of climate journals and made mucho $$$ in the process.

    “recently earned doctor degree”

I’m pretty sure that a young chick from Delaware is an absolut
expert in terms of Penguins 10000 miles away.
And that the little bit of data (a few decades of very constant polar climate and significantly less data about penguins))
can also be used to predict a 60% population increase by 2099.
As there is no more money to be made with the ozone holes(TM DuPont)
the penguins will not be killed by UV rays.

Well, the name Cimino is synonymous for deliberate man made desasters in the movie business. Why should it be different in terms of Hollywood science?

Don’t know if the Adélie penguin population has actually increased. The count has increased in large part due to finding significant colonies that we did not know existed before I think.

But any way one cuts it, Antarctica is doing just fine except it seems to be getting even a bit colder!

    Hey Tony,

West Virginia’s Canaan Valley plummets to minus-31, setting record low for region

Just 125 miles west of Washington DC, the temperature at a weather station in Canaan Valley plunged to minus-31 degrees. It is the coldest reading on record in that part of the state.

This ‘expert’ is entitled to use the epithet ‘Dr’ as she has a PhD. I am entitled to use the epithet ‘Dr.’, especially as I am Australian.

As you will see: There is a subtle difference in the abbreviations, and these reflect the grammatical rule of which so many people are unaware: If the full word ends in the same same letter as the abbreviation, a ‘.’ is not required. Thus, ‘Dr’ is an abbreviation of ‘Doctor’, ‘Mr’ is the abbreviation of ‘Mister’; whilst ‘Rev.’ is the abbreviation of ‘Reverend’. ‘Prof.’ is the abbreviation of ‘Professor’.

So, what’s ‘Dr.’? It’s actually a particularly famous bird in Australia, the ‘Dicrurus Bractreatus’, more popularly know as a ‘Drongo’. However in Australian parlance this word has evolved to mean something else: https://www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang.html#D

So yes! I’m entitled to use ‘Dr.’, and my friends can confirm that entitlement ……

I made a computer model that shows the summit of Mt. Everest will be 7000′ above sea level by 2100. A two-day hike will get you to the top from the beach and it will be free of ice and snow. The good news is, we have 10 years to turn it around.
