In 2008, Seth Borenstein quoted academics as saying we are toast and this is our last chance. Fifteen years later he is still quoting academics saying the same thing
“We’re toast if we don’t get on a very different path,” Hansen, director of the Goddard Institute of Space Sciences
To cut emissions, Hansen said coal-fired power plants that don’t capture carbon dioxide emissions shouldn’t be used in the United States after 2025, and should be eliminated in the rest of the world by 2030.
“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”
Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.
Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., committee chairman, said, “Dr. Hansen was right. Twenty years later, we recognize him as a climate prophet.”

“if we don’t quickly cut back on how we are stressing the Earth, we’re toast,”

Using the same lies over and over again
to stay relevant and keep the funding
is the definition of climate science.
Einstein
Glad to know you, Mr. Einstein. You’re so bright, I bet your father referred to you as his sun.
Spot on 🙂
My real name refers to the sun (so I was/were told),
though the spelling of a part of it refers to the moon (but only in English)
One more thing, circa 2008 from Seth Borenstein (because, as I regularly point out at my GelbspanFiles blog, there’s ALWAYS more to any given angle of climate alarmism):
Back then, Borenstein provided his list of suggested reading references to an index page of the Society of Environmental Journalists, an outfit that would be at least more intellectually honest with the public and themselves if they were renamed the Society of Environmental Propagandists. Right up near the top of his list, he offered this declaration ( http://gelbspanfiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Seth-Borenstein-Gelb-SEJ-rec-books-1024×918.jpg ):
— “There are libraries on climate change alone. To me they start and end with Ross Gelbspan’s “The Heat Is On.”
At my blog, I’ve detailed how Gelbspan is absolutely NOT a climate science expert ( http://gelbspanfiles.com/?p=963 ) despite how that label was applied to him, and I go into much greater detail throughout my blog on how Gelbspan could not prove his accusation true about ‘industry-corrupted skeptic climate scientists are liars-for-hire’ if his reputation depended on it. But if there’s one thing propaganda ‘journalists’ demonstrate, it’s their unquestioning religious belief that not only the CAGW science is settled but it’s also ‘common knowledge’ that skeptic scientists are bribed to spew disinformation. Such is what happens when people operate on emotional response rather than examining hard facts.
Journalist’s opinions are not primary sources for anything. Get ANY standard thermodynamics reference, and derive from fundamental principles why AGW is nonsense, using text which is validated by every heat engine, refrigerator or aircraft ever built.
Hopefully someone will finally answer the question posed after many of Tony’s doomcast posts;-} Did Antarctica’s ice shelves, Artic sea ice, penguins, walruses, polar bears, low lying islands & cities around the world, humanity … survive?;-}
He keeps referring to what Hansen said, over and over, like a single source of authority, the Pope maybe, or some other being empowered by God, and who someday will be right-just you wait. And we all will do the Ghost Dance while we wait.
