“ready for the next one”

Eight years ago, the press announced that Asheville was ready for the next big rainfall event like the one during July 1916.

“Never before had so much rain fallen anywhere in the United States in a 24-hour period, the National Weather Bureau reported.

The French Broad River, usually about 380 feet wide, stretched 1,300 feet across. It crested at 21 feet, some 17 feet above flood stage. Though the rain had stopped on the Sunday morning of July 16, 1916, people were taken by surprise by the speed and volume of rising floodwaters.”

“In 1916, weathermen couldn’t predict a hurricane’s path with much more precision than the Farmer’s Almanac could predict the hour of winter’s first snowfall. Early meteorologists could, however, measure the speed and strength of falling rain. On Saturday, July 15, 1916, the Blue Ridge region saw more rain than anyone anywhere had ever seen since such records had been kept. One spot in Altapass, near Grandfather Mountain, measured more than 22 inches of rain in 24 hours.”

The truth has been known for millenia.
It especially applies to human nature – lust, anger, avarice

you don’t have to go all the way back to biblical times to find our savior. our Savior arrived in 2008. “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal …”~~Barack Obama upon winning the Democratic nomination for presidency conveys his thinking of what that means ….for the world, Tuesday, JUNE 03, 2008. and they claim Donald Trump over promises. wow.

Messiah the half white Hawaiian-not an AA never experienced the HOOD Life or strove for equality – the ONLY REASON he even ran for President was due to the POWER hungry the 1 party control clueless case of Pelosi – she KNEW the DNC could win the WH with O-so-dipstick – she believed He would be hers to control – what she didnt know which is on every level of DIDNT Know is Obama was / is /shall be a Socialist for life- who loves other peoples money – a good example is he offered 7 years in a row of a budget rejected 100 to 0 every time by Senate – what was the FIRST THING he pushed?? ACA / Hilary Care / Obama Care- WHY for Pelosi / DNC at midterms in 2010 – just more vote buying from DNC

Did not the Elohim change their minds once before, deciding to ‘wash away’ humanity’s sins in a big flood – then they changed their minds once more, allowing one family and a few animals to carry on, promising they’d never do that again? I’m guessing they change their minds as often as they change their names… it’s hard keeping up with sacred settled science (SSS).

  3. Bill says:

Based on what I’ve seen elsewhere, the people of Asheville should be asking these questions:

What policies (if any) were passed that prevented building or development in dangerous areas? Were those policies ever implemented? (Areas upstream as well.)

What infrastructure was designed or promised, but was never completed, or was improperly maintained?

I like the term cloudburst. No doubt invented to stoke fear in the typical Model A driver due to climate change.

  5. Denis Rushworth says:

In the 1930s The Tennessee Valley Authority began a program of building flood control dams in the area. About 45 were built over the years. To be included was a dam on the French Broad River but the people of Asheville refused it – it was not built. Now we see the consequence of the ignorant reactionaries of the 1930s, they or their descendents still hard at work in the 21st century.

“ready for the next one” actually meant families with generations long roots in Asheville–and the rest of western NC–were waiting for a major hurricane to clean out the carpet baggers who were profoundly changing the region–for the worse. Rednecks refer to this natural process as rural renewal.

    2016?

Many of these idiots, whose unholy climate religion has convinced them that they know ‘the science’, believe that the only reliable climate data is from 1979 onward. No amount of data will cure their sickness. I have tried… till I was blue in the face. I stopped. I no longer debate with idiots. No more blue face.
