Sheesh, next they will be naming Alberta Clippers and other midwest US-originating storms — those often have central barometric pressure readings around 990 to 1000 MB (hPa).

As Daffy Duck used to say, “It is, to laugh”.

Somehow Mann has to get to his predicted 34 named storms.

And by doing so one can inflate the scare propaganda in the most peaceful scenario .
Even if the number actually dropped by 98 % from 1000 to 20
it would be 20 more in the books.

As that 1950s rock’n’roll song pleaded:
“Nadine, why can’t you be true; oh Nadine” boo hoo hoo.

Moving at never-before-seen-speeds of 14 mph, howling with off-the-scale-winds of nearly 30 mph, and with life-threatening pressure of 1006 hPa it’s expected to dissipate before it even began. Desperation on steroids – maybe it needs its 17th booster shot.

The U.K. had its first storm over the weekend, so the authorities pulled a wascally wabbit out of their hat and named it Archibald or Anthony or Alan or anything beginning with ‘A’ to freak the sheep.

Fiji had its 1st proto-cyclone of the year, minimum pressure of 1001 hPa, barely a ‘low’ or a ‘depression’, yet thankfully no one’s put a ‘name’ to it. A lot of surfers are pulling a ‘sickie’ off work today (Monday) as swells generated by the storm have arrived here on New Zealand’s northeast coast, first wave of the summer, hoot for Huey!
