“A ground-breaking project to suck carbon out of the sea has started operating on England’s south coast.
The small pilot scheme, known as SeaCURE, is funded by the UK government as part of its search for technologies that fight climate change.
There’s broad consensus among climate scientists that the overwhelming priority is to cut greenhouse gas emissions, the chief cause of global warming.”
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

We already have a system for sucking Carbon out of the ocean … it’s been running very nicely for millions of years … called a coral reef.
We could easily start more of them, if we wanted to.
This is nonsense on so many levels. Fundamentally, of course, the ‘CO2 causes climate change’ mantra is nonsense, but like eugenics in 1930s Germany, we are not allowed to point that out.
Secondly there is no foundational theoretical work to estimate whether the energy required for the process and production of the chemicals used generates more CO2 than is sequestered. It is n essentially a rig which will add to the legion of smug, self-righteous PhDs who delude themselves that they are ‘saving the planet’. Apparently, they replace the CO2 with a substance of higher solubility, which they then neutralize before returning it to the sea (exactly how neutral it is in practice is yet to be seen). Have they, for example, considered using the waste heat from power station condensers to achieve he same end?
Considering the massive destruction of energy production UK is facing
they won’t even have the co2 energy to extract the co2.
A 2016 election slogan may be the answer –
” Monica sucks – and so does Hilary ”
If those 2 Ladies could be integrated into the process Oceans will be Co2-free the same day the arctic loses all its ice.
And without the co2 the ocean will no longer be warming đŸ™‚
But I still wonder where it’d be stored?
European countries barely have the capacities to store enough natural gas to survive a winter season, yet they can pull endless storage volumes for co2 out of their butts?
Maybe the Leprechauns have built enough airproof underground caves Britain?
The other problem is : Even a highly effective co2 sucking facility that can extract a hectare per hour wouldnt even clean up 1/4 squarekilometer per day.
On a planet with 360mio squarekilometers ocean they’d finish the job in 1.5 billion years .(and only if we ignore an average ocean depth of a mile+)
“European countries barely have the capacities to store enough natural gas to survive a winter season”
Nope.
“2024 was the third year in a row in which the European Union had secured abundant reserves of gas well ahead of winter. The 90% storage filling target, agreed in 2022, had already been reached in August 2024.
In February 2025, due to cold temperatures in Europe, the reserves fell below 50%, however, a sufficient margin remains to last until the end of the cold season”
(Does not include the UK which has inadequate gas storage facilities and relies on the next LNG tanker from the USA and gas pipelines from Norway and the Netherlands)

“Most (european) countries storage doesn’t hold enough gas to last the whole winter”(except slovakia and austria)

Sucking tax payer money with insane ideas
is now called sucking carbon?
