Melissa is a significant rain event and flooding at the coast but the winds don’t look to be any record breaking stuff and only of concern to those living in shacks or trailers.

I’ve seen some photos of heavy damage. I’ve seen no photos of buildings that are no longer there. isn’t that supposed to happen when you have a cat 5? there’s nothing left but a slab?

maybe we should question all the states high temperature records before 1950. at a quick glance it looks like 36 of our 50 states set their high temperature records prior to 1950. I live in Minnesota and our high temperature record is almost 100 years old and it’s 114. in the last 50 years I don’t think we’ve had a high temperature higher than 106, 107… maybe a 108.

I cannot disagree or agree. my personal experience is …in my family, on Mom’s side and dad’s side and on my Ex-Wives mom and Dad side health and longevity seems to be a complete roll of the dice. doesn’t matter if you’re fat or thin, I can’t see a pattern… it’s just completely random and good luck explains a lot of it in my humble opinion. but I can easily add that climate has not affected my family’s lifespan whatsoever unless you go back more than 100 years when probably some froze to death before fossil fuels saved their lives and the lives of their descendants.
Bob, I am glad you and your family are so healthy. Nobody can really agree or disagree. It is personal, it is something one must experience to understand. One cannot disbelieve something that they have personally experienced.
Almost everyone our age eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) filled with “healthy” plants, and who is also avoiding/limiting animal fat and fatty meat, has ailments of some kind, and is on medications. If you and your family are pain/disease free and on no medications whatsoever, then that’s great!
But if one has ailments one wishes to be rid of, they can take a test. It doesn’t have to be diabetes, cancer or heart disease. It may be a bum knee, an eczema patch, slightly elevated blood pressure, tinnitus, gout, trouble sleeping, etc., something irritating one wishes to be rid of. One can write these things down, and then make a commitment to do a 90-day challenge, such as eating fatty beef, butter, bacon and eggs (anything that once had eyeballs) and to avoid the all the rest like it is poison for that 90 days. And, then see what changes occur.
The first week or so, it could be like getting off of heroin or alcohol. After that, things usually smooth out. Literally. One of the first things I found out was that I didn’t need fiber, and that my bowel problems went away after I got off of that crap.
I confess, I had to keep the coffee, and have been on/off of it since. Luckily it has very few defense chemicals in it (much less than teas), so is the safer plant derivative hot drink. The rest of the plant kingdom I avoided. And I still avoid. (This is a far cry from what I once was – a vegetarian, and a juicer.)
You are correct that some people have stronger immune systems. But we ALL must fight off plant toxins if we are eating them. They wear on us all. Some fortunate bodies may hold out longer before experiencing health issues. But there is nobody I know of who hasn’t experienced miraculous health changes with the 90-day challenge. Everyone gets off of at least one medication (if not every one of them, like I).
For Thanksgiving, I had turkey, ham and deviled eggs, and I avoided all of the plant-based dishes. I ate until I was comfortably full; my only meal of the day. Everyone else had the starches, the pies, ice cream, puddings, cookies, etc.
I felt great the next day. Everyone else was dragging. That should say something in and of itself, whether or not all we should be eating all of that other stuff.
To try the 90-day challenge, one has to have their “why.” If there is absolutely no “why” for you, you are blessed – and truly an anomaly.
I know what plant toxins did to my body, and what they have done to so many others. Hospitals and nursing homes are full of victims of plant toxins, with every ailment and disease known to man. Plant toxins cause inflammation. And inflammation causes diseases. For me, there is no food that tastes so good as being completely pain-free and off of all medications.
My one exception is a one-off: air-popped popcorn with melted Irish butter and Parmesan cheese – once a year, on my birthday. Then it’s back to real health food – from an animal that had eyeballs. 🙂

I commented that a Danish engineer did a study which was reported about a month ago that sea level hasn’t risen at all the last 40 years. somebody replied that sea level has risen at least 8 in the last 50 years.. Good Thanksgiving Eve morning one and all! for about 40 years we’ve been told heats going to kill us, rising sea levels are going to kill us, hurricanes and tornadoes are going to kill us. here’s a wake up check on that. I’m in South Central Minnesota and we have about 4 inches of new snow on the ground which is on top of icy frozen slush, (so the schools are closed) it’s about 20° not including wind and the wind is a steady 22 mph, gusting to 35. if we didn’t have fossil fuels to keep our homes warm we’d all be dead. if you went outside today without boots and a jacket you’d have hypothermia within 20 minutes. one more thing… it’s not winter yet. lol
