His goal is always to create discord and strife, and pin the blame for the mess he is making on somebody else.

Ain’t that the truth?
wwlee, did you find that the original message was not from Obama, but his Labor Sec?

and would a $10/hour minimum wage “Fast Track Destroy America?”
Sadly his successes in that realm are legion and he bears a great amount of the blame for making that woman’s hard, honest work for naught. Can the damage be undone? That’s the real question.
Notice how he’s concerned with individuals first, and families as an afterthought. Individuals vote, and his constant campaigning is focused on the next election, and the one after that. It’s used car salesmanship 101.
Notice also he fails to acknowledge that it’s always been normal for more than one breadwinner to live under the same roof, throughout human history. Everybody worked on family farms or in family shops, where they lived too. Grandparents and kids worked, in different ways. Only in the 1950s did women stay home. Today it’s often two or three adults, couples or roommates paying for the roof. That’s always been normal.
But now it’s the liberals who want to “take America back” to the 1950s — the days before the national minimum wage and illegal immigrants pushed down everybody’s wages. The ones with jobs anyway.
He’s trying to turn the populace brown.
I worked at a factory between 1999 and 2005 where everyone in my section was of a different race, but predominantly Australian/English. Before I’d left in 2005, one Asian/Samoan began work there.
I was called back in 2008 and discovered that everyone in my former section was now Asian/Samoan! Reason was that the original guy became supervisor and started hiring “his own kind” regardless of skill. No wonder they needed me back.
Are you a climate scientist? Your conclusions seem quite deterministic. Gavin at NASA can use you skill to do some GCM work
Is she a janitor in a public school?
But seriously folks, a woman that can work productively for 30 years but never once make it through a jobs training program? Something wrong with the story.
Yes because in a socialist’s world, like Boxer of Animal Farm fame, you are supposed to just keep plying on while the elite decide when to throw you some crumbs
She needs a husband . . . like a fish needs a bicycle.
Working productively? How does HE even know how to spot ‘productive work”? “Work is fascinating, I could sit and watch it for hours”. says King Putt.
Just a different kind of “Wag the Dog”.
The laughingstock-in-chief wants to bomb both sides in Syria. His Ukrainian puppet is getting his ass handed to him. Thus the administration is a deer in the headlights. They just flat out have no clue what to do next.
So, suddenly immigration is a the issue of the week.
You can train someone to be a janitor in a day. Thus the wages are always low for cleaning personnel since they are so easily replaced by willing workers. Immigration “reform” won’t do a single thing to raise janitorial wages. Such “reform” will just create a larger pool of potential workers.
And you just know Mr. “I have a pen and a phone” will screw-up immigration reform in his quest to gain more “D” voters. True immigration reform would be very simple. Full reciprocity on immigration laws. Mexican immigrants will have the Mexican immigration laws applied to them.
Canadian immigrants would have to abide by Canadian immigration laws. And so forth….
Easy as can be and none of the prospective immigrants can then pitch a fit about “unfair” immigration laws.
Won’t happen because the idiot-in-chief doesn’t have the brains of a pedigreed irish setter. (turnips have been unmercifully picked on around here.)
I agree with you to some extent. My brother-in-law was living in Paris on an expired visa in 1987. He said that if he were caught, he would be in big trouble: lots of jail time.
We don’t need immigration reform. We need for invasion to be illegal. Lock ’em up. Don’t deport ’em, lock ’em up. The rest will find their way back home el quicko.
The only part of your comment that I disagree with is the “full reciprocity” proposed solution. For instance if countries which no one in their right mind would want to emigrate to, Somalia for example, were to adopt a free immigration policy with everyone welcome, we certainly wouldn’t want to have reciprocity with that.
Australia is solving their illegal immigrant problem with “boat people”. Once the liberal (Abbott) govt (conservative in US) got in, they took a hard line, began using their Navy (Operation Sovereign Borders) to intercept and turn back the boats before they reached Australia and hold the illegal immigrants in offshore detention. http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/06/19/satisfied-australia-marks-six-months-no-boatpeople They have had zero boat people land during the past 6 months. During the same 6 month period during the previous Labour (Gilliard) govt there were 190 boats with 12,773 illegal immigrants land in Australia. Illegal immigration can be stopped, if you actually enforce the laws.
If the US doesn’t have the stomach for such a policy, another proposed solution is to publicly announce that at the end of the current year, anyone found to be in this country illegally would be fingerprinted, DNA’d, returned to their home country and be banned forever from re-entering this country, even to visit. They have the remainder of the year to return leave the country without penalty and begin the process to legally emigrate to the US. Repeat offenders would be permanently be held in stark prison camps, do 6 days/week of hard labor, no radio, television or other amenities.
I like!
If you look at the Patriot Act and then look at the way Obummer’s admin handled the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (the promise made the LAST time round on granting amnesty to illegals link) It is pretty obvious the Patriot Act is aimed at controlling AMERICANS and not terrorists. The actions of the US government scream LOUDLY that there is no threat of terrorism and the Patriot Act should immediately be repealed. Either that or the federal government as a whole is criminally negligent in their duties to the citizens of the USA.
Under Obummer the Border Fence morphed into a few short lengths of telephone poles stuck in the ground at intervals so a car can not drive through. While what we were promised in 2006 was
TSA has cost about $60 billion since its inception. So a border length fence would cost HALF what we have already spent on ‘Grope-N-Fly’ and put people to work while leaving Americans un molested. Instead “..[s]ignaling a major shift from her predecessor, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Tuesday said she will spend $50 million of stimulus funds originally intended to build a “virtual fence” along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border on other more proven and cost-effective security technology….” …Ms. Napolitano attempts to justify to lawmakers a 30 percent budget reduction for U.S. Customs and Border Protection…March 17, 2010

His solution , change the US in Mexico dos (2). One advice for the Mexicans, never become a US citizen. It could be a life sentence. One thing is to get in. To get out will be the problem.
Un consejo para los mexicanos, no se convierta en un ciudadano de los EE.UU.. Podría ser condenado a cadena perpetua.

The cost of getting rid of US citizenship has quadrupled to $2350, up from $450. The changes will come into effect on September 6th

And Obama’s high cost of energy is helping these poor folks….
The story doesn’t ring true. A person works continuously for 30 years, but is still making equivalent to minimum wage. That’s nearly impossible. My guess is that she just recently resumed working after a significant hiatus. My guess is that she probably has a husband/boyfriend that works construction or something like that.
If you stay a janitor and the company sees no reason to promote you yes, you can stay at minimum wage. Production workers also can stay on minimum wage if they do not show promise.
Not for 30 years of continuous labor especially if it’s the same employer… An operator is going to see many Cost of living increases and merit increases over that period of time enough to put them above minimum wage.
The story that we’re expected to swallow just doesn’t mesh up with reality.
If this lady started 30 years ago at the then min wage of about $3.35 and never got above the lowest rung I guess it could be possible that she’s only now making $7.25, but if she was a good reliable worker that worked continuously for thirty years I’d expect to see her well above that.
If she was a minimal out put type and also ‘Affirmative Action’ then yes I could see her staying at minimum wage even at the same place. I ran into one or two of the “you owe me a living’ types that the company was afraid to fire so they got shuffled into a dead end position and left to mold with the hope they would eventually leave of their own accord and without screaming for a lawyer.
Gail, cannot imagine such types would not also be “gather no moss” types. IMO such people usually have an inflated sense of self that would make them retaliate by leaving.
For 30 years? Either Obola and the WH are full of it or poor Australia-Alberta is a pretty dim bulb suffering on minimum wages for 30 years.
My vote is for the disinformation coming from Obola.
She’s worked as a janitor for 30 years…with the same company? No one in their right mind would stay with a company for 30 years without a wage increase above minimum wage. Most likely she’s been a janitor that long but always changing employers and stayed entry level all that time.
Either way, this the future Obama and his big corporation pals want for all the illegals. Welcome to America?
No no he wants this for all Americans.
The UK has a more dangerous problem with immigration.
“Says Lord Ahmed, many mosques are dangerously cut off from the rest of society, rooted in the ancient world, not the modern one. This approach is reflected by the way imams behave. Many rarely mix with other faiths, they are inward-looking and devote much of their energies to attacking rival sects.
What Ahmed doesn’t tell us is something just a relevant – the extremely narrow “recruitment” base of British Pakistani immigrants, some 75 percent of which are from the Mirpur-speaking area of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, mostly the Pothwari. Ahmed himself is a Pothwari, so is Sayeeda Warsi, and also Anwar Pervez, founder and Chairman of Bestway Group.
The Mirpur area is mainly rural, poor, and many of the inhabitants are poorly educated. They follow the religious practices of the Punjabi Pothwari.
From here, we learn that the dominant structure amongst the Mirpur people is the family, to which the first priority is always given, right or wrong. It is a custom of people in Mirpur to marry their children within their families and if there is no one suitable, marriage is to be done in baradari or in the same cast.
This, we are told, is a very strict custom and people follow it. These are largely arranged marriages, and they are engaged at a very small age. It is forbidden strictly to marry their daughters with someone outside their family. Although sometimes the male members marry girls outside the family, it is avoided if possible. As a result, studies have shown that 55 percent of Pakistanis are married to first cousins – and in Bradford, this rises to 75 percent.
When it comes to female education, in Mirpur the girls are mainly kept at home. Many are not educated at all and are taught only how to do domestic chores.
Within the community, nepotism is rife: jobs are mostly given on the basis of family relation rather than abilities, skills and education. An poorly educated boy can always get a good job in a bank if he has an uncle at high post. This is not only practiced in the government but also in private and multinational companies.
All of this makes a stark contrast to the fantasy world inhabited by politicians. As pointed out by Anthony Scholefield, the Conservative manifesto for the 2010 election stated: “Immigration has enriched our nation over the years and we want to attract the brightest and the best people who can make a real difference to our economic growth”.
Of the issue, David Cameron says: “It is right that we should attract the brightest and the best to Britain. Ed Milliband, in his speech to the IPPR think tank on 22nd June 2012 said, “Our economy has gained from being open to talent from across the world”. Theresa May told the Conservative Party Conference on 5th October 2010, “Of course, Britain has benefited from immigration … We want to make sure the best and brightest can still come”.
But what is astonishing about immigrants that we are getting from Pakistan is that so many of them are dregs: inbred, backward, poorly-educated, bigoted, misogynist, and corrupt. The reason so often that they behave like the dregs is because they are the dregs. In many cases, even other Pakistanis are ashamed of them. Islam is the very least of our problems.”

WTF, Gail. The entire post is moronic and the 55/75 number is at best garbage. Having grown up with Muslims of that regions and knowing hundreds, this marriage business is less rare than”normal”
Either your time and effort are worth something or their not. If your not making what you need then you have every opportunity in this society to move and/or find something that pays better. I don’t really care.
I’m in a profession where I paid for my training by driving at a reduced pay rate for the first year for the company that provided the training. My six weeks of training didn’t have to cost me more than a couple tanks of gas. They even provided two meals a day during the first four weeks of training before you got your first pay check. Your not even required to have a GED to do it. Still I made $32,000 that very first year as a company class A CDL driver. They even provided the required physical. Provided for payroll deduction for life insurance.
I will make about $70,000 for driving a big truck this year but even that doesn’t tell the whole story. Because of claiming per diem and expenses on their Federal tax return a driver that spends a significant amount of time away from home and who’s household has no other source of income will end up paying considerably less income tax than those in professions that don’t require travel. And BTW with the exception of the period of the recession the trucking industry in the US has pretty consistently been short about 30,000 class A CDL drivers so the demand has been pretty steady. I recognize that not everyone has the aptitude or inclination to navigate a 70′ long vehicle but there are still quite a few other vocations that offer similar opportunities.
Nope, don’t tell me the sob stories. They’re pure BS as far as I’m concerned. A person that remains clean legally, works hard, has a good work ethic, and can read and write English can make a legal living in this country with an income in the top 50% of wage earners.
You do not even have to become a company driver. I took the long, 2 month truck driver training course at a community college and it cost me ~$500.00. (I often haul livestock in trailers up to 33 ft long and wanted that training.) Once you have the CDL doors will open. You do not have to drive cross country. There is short haul, “bread trucks” school buses, and even the gofers for auto mechanics.
Heck even janitors can make a decent living if you get up off your rear and start your own business cleaning houses (one friend) or offices (another friend)
Courier jobs pay a good money and don’t need CDL and can use your car. I worked several years delivering pharmecueticals to hospitals and drug stores. They all are delivered by Independent Contractors using their own vans.
Waving the CDL and a clean drivers record under the hiring company’s nose helps put you at the front of the line. This is especially true if you are an older person (age discrimination is alive and well) and semi-retired.
Right now the community college courses that take you all the way through to get your CDL are running around $4,000. When I trained 10 years ago it was $2,200. Not saying you can’t get your CDL much cheaper but I was happy for the training I received once I got out on my own.
Hauled a “shut down” load yesterday. A load that may cause a line in a plant to shutdown if it didn’t get there on time. I was three minutes late simply because of the time it took our cross dock to load it and the fact that I had to jump off I-65 at the KY-TN border and take the back roads to get to I-24 due to a back up due to an accident. That cost me 13 minutes. I felt good about making it there that quickly.
I got my CDL in 2004 and our community college was running $500. I was surprised it was that inexpensive. (It was a full semester 8 hrs a day too.) It probably depends on how much of the bill is paid by the state. Other courses I took were dirt cheap. ~$50 to $100. The textbooks were more expensive.
Austraberta makes $7.25 an hour. George Obama makes $0.06 an hour.
Yeah, Obama cares.
The hell with minimum wages, how many terrorists from ISIS, Al Qaida, etc. have crossed into the US from (nonexistent) southern border In addition to criminals, drug lords, and gangs?
And how many are gaining access to driving large trucks capable of being made into a bomb and detonated?
And how many are gaining access to driving large trucks capable of being made into a bomb and detonated? asks Ed Martin

And finally a free pass for Mexican truck drivers:
OOIDA (Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association) shows it easier than you would think.
If I recall correctly OOIDA’s protest fell on deaf ears so now the USA has Mexican rigs with Mexican drivers in this country.
Did you see this over the weekend, Gail? Also that Pope Francis is a target?
Imminent Terrorist Attack Warning Update: Ft. Bliss Increases Security

No I did not see that, so thanks for the link Ed.
I was watching three turban head eighteen wheeler drivers in Montgomery, Alabama as I wrote that comment to you.
So while TSA is subjecting a 110 pounds, 85-year-old Long Island grandmother in a walker to a a humiliating strip search along with traumatizing wheel chair bound three year old girls, terrorist are allowed free access across our southern border and even a helping hand from the Department of Homeland Security. While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen — and telling the Mexican government where they are.
What is WRONG with this picture??/
Why should she make more than the minimum wage? It is a minimum skill job with a steady supply of workers willing to work for that wage.
Two questions: (1) Where are the grandchildren’s parents? and (2) What means-tested government benefits does she receive?
She has a home on min wage? Obama had breakfast at this home? Something is wrong.
I can find nothing about him being there, only Sec.of Labor, Thomas Perez. Another fabrication?
They are actually trying to promote these jobs as careers. The same tired line of “I can’t feed my family on these wages” is the obvious result of no education and expect to be rewarded, as was quoted “Anybody that works hard should be able to feed their family.” The left and unions sympathize with them and abet them staying in dead end jobs. The real problem is expecting to be a career janitor and make a living. Btw, the lady is a union activist and they seem blinded by the onslaught of millions of illegal aliens ready to take over their jobs. They can’t seem to understand their jobs are a dime a dozen and think only work is to be rewarded, not the type of work.
The story of the man who charged $5,000 to to put a 50¢ part in a complicated machine broke the charges down as Part 50¢ ….. Knowing where to put it $4999.50.
I can only assume that if this woman had skills or abilities that allowed her to earn twice the minimum wage that she would indeed do so. When I was 16 I worked for $1.35 an hour and was happy to get it. The reason I didn’t work for minimum wage my entire life was because I thought I could do better and was willing to put in the effort to become worth more. The answer for this woman and for everyone who finds themselves in a minimum wage job is to learn a more valuale skill, get an education, become better at what they do, etc. The answer is NOT to simply pay them more for work that is in fact only worth $7.25 an hour.
The problem is the unions swoop down and confirm their status by telling them they are worth more, further hindering them from doing things that would advance them. It’s despictable. If you can make a career and living from cleaning toilets, why bother with education? That’s exactly what the unions are trying to do. Stop encouraging them in demanding more pay and tell them the truth that education and job skills are the way out. Where did they get the idea that they are worth more? From the unions. Those jobs have never been thought as careers until the unions took advantage of immigrants lacking education.
If min wage was raised, it would still be min wage since everything will increase and you are right back where you started, except many will be out of work.
In 1971, I started a job as sales rep with a major corp at eqivalent of $3.75 an hour which was a top wage. Brand new home for $17,000 and a new car for $3,000 could be bought. My mother raised 3 children on $1.25 and hour. Just to illustrate how its all relative. Money alone will never advance anybody, only valuable skills.
One point no one mentions is, BECAUSE of Bill Clinton pushing the ratification of the World Trade Organization (no import tarriffs allowed.)
AND Clinton transfered to China US advanced technology,
So now US workers are now in direct competition with Chinese workers.
As of 1 May 2013, the highest monthly minimum wage in China is 1,600 yuan ($265.64 US Dollar).
The lowest minimum wage was .1,010 yuan ( $165.62 US Dollar ).
US minimum wage is ~$1250/month @ $7.25/hr.
That is what American workers are competing against.
For Chinese wages SEE: http://www.clb.org.hk/en/content/wages-china
So go ahead and raise the minimum wage. All it does is send even more jobs to China and India and makes sure more people are hired “Under the Table” where the evasion of taxes allows the worker higher take home pay and the employer less over head costs.
The shadow economy is already $2 trillion.
April 23, 2013 The $2 trillion shadow economy is the recession’s big winner
The one liner in Obummercare making all businesses produce 1099s for all cash/check transactions of business customers over $600 in a given year was supposed to plug that hole. The big guys like Sam’s Club, Lowes, Home Depot and ALL the gas stations and hotels howled that clause down because the paperwork would be a killing blow. You would have to get the SS # of EVERY customer, determine if he was buying for a business or personal use or had combined the two in his purchase and then separate purchases into cash, check and credit card. If the clause had not been struck down then there would have been a major need for more book keepers.
Note that credit card transactions were exempt from the law so it was also designed to push the USA into a cashless society that made tracking of everyone easier. (It would also allow the shutting off of money to any individual at the whim of the bankers/government.)
That little clause in Obummercare shows the idiots in Washington DC needed to be booted to the nearest burger flipping jobs since they either do not have the brains of a turnip OR they are anti-American.
“What difference – at this point what difference does it make?”
That appears to be the theme coming out of Washington DC these days and there is plenty of blame to go around.

And the Communists LOVE to infiltrate the Labor Unions. It is a primary target for the KGB and was a major target before the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia.
My father started a Union in NYC around 1952. The Mafia moved in and threatened to beat him to death if he did not leave NYC. That is why our family left the area. My Farther-in-law in the same time frame was a Merchant Marine ship Captain. He left that position because of the headaches of dealing with the Longshoreman’s Union. Turns out the KGB was using the Union to disrupt the flow of goods into US ports. (SEE the book Willing Accomplices: How KGB Covert Influence Agents Created Political Correctness and Destroyed America by Kent Clizbe I do not have time to dig out the specific passages.)
Here is one example:
Jack Jones was in the pay of the KGB when he was Britain’s most powerful union leader, according to a former spy chief.
Free trade made the rich richer, made the Chinese ridiculously richer and made middle America poorer and poorer and on top of that, the bank bail outs caused raging inflation especially in fuel, food and housing.
It is not ‘free trade’ as usual the word was stolen.
I am in luck, ‘Taxidriver’ explains why ‘Free Trade’ is neither ‘free’ (made with slave labor) nor ‘trade’ and saves me the trouble of trying to put the concepts into words.
“Would the proponents of so-called “free trade” have gotten as far if they had used the terms “Anti tarrif,” “pro-exploitation,” or “fence’s rights?” Hardly. Those terms betray too much of their true agenda, and rub against the grain of the hearts and minds of good and decent people.”
“… the bank bail outs caused raging inflation especially in fuel, food and housing.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sorry to quibble again but it is not bank bailouts that cause raging inflation it is doubling of the money supply within a year by the FED. ( SEE: Quantitative Easing ) Although according to that article the private banks/FED were afraid to put the money into circulation. “…We’ve repeatedly pointed out that the Federal Reserve has been intentionally discouraged banks from lending to Main Street – in a misguided attempt to curb inflation – which has increased unemployment and stalled out the economy…”
The bank bailouts** were pure out and out theft that our kids and grand kids will still be paying for.
Note I hate the WTO aka ‘Free Trade’ and the Banksters with their legalized theft (fractional reserve banking) but it is important to get the concepts and facts correct or you will have someone like _Jim jumping down your throat.
** The Bank (actually AIG bailout) is one of the prime reasons the federal deficit sky rocketed. link
The upshot is the IMF is recommending confiscation of 10% of ALL wealth in the USA to get the US back to the same deficit we had in 2007!
as an exceptional measure to restore debt sustainability.
That’s right up there with I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.
So politicians, to buy votes, borrow printed on the spot fairy dust money from the banking cartel and then the banking cartel demands REAL WEALTH be confiscated to pay them back for all the F…Ups made by the Banksters and their pet politicians.
Think about it. As Graham F. Towers, Governor of the Central Bank of Canada said banks create the medium of exchange… “The manufacturing process consists of making a pen-and-ink or typewriter entry on a card in a book. That is all. Each and every time a bank makes a loan (or purchases securities), new bank credit is created — new deposits — brand new money. Broadly speaking, all new money comes out of a Bank in the form of loans.”
How in heck can anyone in that type of business fail?
……
I like the Icelandic Solution Better than the IMFs. They made the Bansters EAT their OWN mistakes.
What the US Federal Reserve Act did was make the American public liable for the mistakes of the Banksters and their politician buddies. It is like giving your teenager YOUR credit card with no maximum or other strings attached. And then we wonder why the government gets into trouble…
(The USA has ~24% unemployment)
