Florida scientists, engineers and city and county officials have sent a letter today to President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney asking them to address rising seas in the Oct. 22 debate in Boca Raton, Fla. “Unfortunately, global sea level rise is a danger that must be considered by the next president of the United States,” the letter says, adding that the “issue threatens the future of Florida, the nation, and communities around the world.” They’d like to hear the candidates speak to the federal government’s role in planning and risk management, adaptive measures, and how each “would work with the rest of the world to address rising sea levels and other effects of climate change.”

No doubt Uncle Joe will remind us tonight just how badly we need to save the planet (along with the Obama presidency!).
Why must they lie? Just come right out and ask for more tax dollars. At least we’d give that honesty at little more respect.
It fascinates me that the United States is in a worse state fiscally than Europe and in some cities of Europe there is protesting and riots, yet people are fretting over speculative (imaginary?) problems?
Those ‘engineers’ should hand in their licenses.
*ahem*
That first sentence needs a bit of clarification: it should say “UNION OF CONCERNED [ Florida ] SCIENTISTS, engineers and city and……..”
You can sign the letter, too https://secure3.convio.net/ucs/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=3425 and when you join UCS, you can probably get a free coffee mug.
The belief that humans (or, for that matter, a single human) have the power to control the level of the seas is the ultimate form of hubris.
When it comes to feathering their bureaucratic nests with more taxpayers’ dollars, the climastrologists and global warming doomsayers will stoop to any inanity. In a normal world, they’d be laughed at and shunned.
What would all the nukes do if they were set off after being buried deep in Antarctica, I wonder?
Good idea! Next we can have them address the massive unicorn overpopulation problem! And Bigfoot, UFO’s, Chupacabra, Cooties and Goblins.
