We have often noticed that in the tabular statements of those compilers of weather records who write to the Times, useful and welcome as their communications are, every season is sure to be “extraordinary,” almost every month one of the driest or wettest, or windiest, coldest or hottest, ever known. Much observation, which ought to correct a tendency to exaggerate, seems in some minds to have rather a tendency to increase it.

I remember the good old days (circa 2007) when sceptics spent their time looking critically at the scientific basis of the AGW theory. Now all the time is spent playing whack a mole with climate cranks.
I can’t afford an Xbox
That’s a very good description of it.
They also use the pea-shell game and three-card monte. They are all scams. Therefore scammers are by definition expert at them and at using them for misdirection.
It’s pretty appropriate that the magicians Penn and Teller see right through them.
Man does not change. Men can change, but humans will always carry their flaws to the end of time. Alarmists have always been with us. The difference now is that the have Wikilarmia…
“A number of studies have shown that particularly in the United States and in the UK tabloid press, the media significantly understated the strength of scientific consensus on climate change established in IPCC Assessment Reports in 1995 and in 2001.”

It’s worse than we thought. 😉
But we do have that common-sense thingy (not to mention empirical data) going for us Mr. Gator!! On the other side….all the alarmists have is the acknowledgement of being born under a bad sign and trying so hard to demonstrate how much they care…..and the wind cries Mary…
It has ever been thus.
And thus it ever shall be…
Alarmists never recant
Admitting failure means doom was never nigh…
And it means that most every “green” choice they made
Was an alarming waste of time
Being frightened by scary tales
Of planetary danger
Is always preferable
To the cold truth
Of impotence…
