End Of Snow Update

Christmas 2023 was warm in Omaha, so the New York Times announced the end of snow. Now there is record snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere and Omaha is under an extreme cold watch.

“This past year was an Omaha year, and we arrived on the 22nd to find that the weather was very mild — almost 50 degrees — and there was no snow. More unusually, there had been no snow for the entire month of December. Aside from some brief and very sparse flurries, it hadn’t snowed in Brooklyn, either, in November or December. I’m an incorrigible heat seeker, and the phrase “wintry mix” fills me with despair. But even so, the lack of cold and ice in 2023 felt unsettling.”

Consensus Science With Remarkable Precision

Dec 26, 1909

The question as to whether or not there is intelligent life on Mars has now been a mooted one with astronomers for years, the consensus of opinion being now distinctly in favor of it. At the head of the believers stands Professor Percival Lowell, who has made a study of the planet for years at his own observatory at Flagstaff, Arizona, where, in an atmosphere peculiarly adapted for careful observation, he has one of the finest telescopes in the world. He regards the Martian canals as evidence of a scientific method of irrigation worked out with remarkable precision.

Disappearing New York

In 1986, the New York Times predicted the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of the US would lose between 100 and 1,000 feet of shoreline by 2026.

“MANY scientists are so sure that the sea level will rise visibly in the coming decades that they are advising planners to adopt new strategies now. A predicted rise in sea level of one foot within the next 30 to 40 years will drive much of the Atlantic and Gulf shoreline inward by a hundred feet and some of it by more than a thousand feet, according to marine geologists.”

New York To Drown Soon

“On January 13, 2024, the day that the photographs above were taken, it measured water levels three feet higher than predicted.”

“the team predicts that in the next decade, water levels at the coastline of the Battery could rise nearly as much as they did in the previous 100 years, increasing seven to 11 inches by the 2030s.”

Flood Pressure

Since the date of that photograph, sea level has fallen about one foot at a rate of 21 meters per century.
