By 1950, the area was starting to get built up.
By 1969, the city had surrounded the weather station.
Now it is in the middle of a parking lot in the downtown of a large urban area, which has more than tripled in size over the past 60 years.
Lincoln, Virginia is the closest Virginia USHCN station to Washington, DC. The frequency of hot days has plummeted there over the last 90 years.
Ashland, Nebraska is the closest USHCN station to Omaha. Summer temperatures and the frequency of hot days have plummeted there over the past 80 years.
Hot days used to occur quite frequently at Ithaca, New York – but since 1954 the frequency of hot days has plummeted and rarely occur any more.
