According to the article, there has been much migration of “new” species through the Suez Canal since it was opened.
The scientists blame the recent influx on higher temperatures, but how do the jellyfish in the Red Sea know it is warmer on the other side of the canal? Have they been listening to Al Gore?
Actually the article may be nearer to the truth when it quotes intensive fishing as a factor.
I’m with you on the press twisting stuff to make them global warming-related, but this is rubbish.
It’s clear, if you take a minute to read the article, that the last paragraph is talking about jellyfish in general, and not this specific species.
Not hating, but it seems like a lot of people rush to conclusions in order to try to make the ‘other side’ look bad, but in fact just make themselves look foolish. Please, people – if you want climate skepticism to be taken seriously, don’t adopt the knee-jerk twitch reactions from the people you’re arguing against.

I guess if you fish out all the predators like Large Sunfish the occasional crab, spadefish, or loggerhead turtle you will get more jelly fish, it’s not climate change, it’s called overfishing

Read my post again. Read the article again. All I am saying is that nowhere does the article infer that the jellyfish can sting even though they can’t sting. The first sentence of the last paragraph, talking about “their toxic and painful sting” is quite clearly talking about jellyfish in general, not this new species.
All I am saying is, don’t jump to conclusions without reading something properly, even if it is a minor point, in order to make the pro-climate change people look stupid. Instead of a pissing contest over this sort of thing, just stick to the actual science! Don’t go down to their level!

The article states with justification that number of invasive species has increased attributing that to the increase to rising water temperature resulting from global climate change.

The species was never seen before. How could he possibly claim that it had migrated?
