I was shocked to read this morning that the Iter reactor will be generating large amounts of a potent greenhouse gas.

Presidential science advisor John Holdren warned us about these pesky reactors in 1969 :

Both have potentially disastrous effects on the local and world ecological and climatological balance.
This dangerous substance (H2O) is known to be responsible for the vast majority of the greenhouse effect on Earth. It absorbs LW radiation across a broad spectrum and is extremely abundant.
