Call it the “Al Gore effect”

The general public may know sweet Fanny Adams about atmospheric radiative Physics, but they can spot a politician desperately trying to salvage a failed career with unerring accuracy……

“A group of environmentalists across the world believe that, in order to save the planet, humanity must embrace the very science and technology they once so stridently opposed.”

By saving humanity I assume they mean from Global Warming?

“Leading environmental campaigners support nuclear and GM”

“Environmentalists did harm by being ignorant and ideological and unwilling to change their mind based on actual evidence. As a result we have done harm and I regret it.”

“We have caused extra gigatons of greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere by being so precious about nuclear.”

The activists feature in the Channel 4 documentary What the Green Movement Got Wrong, which will be broadcast this week.

  4. Amino Acids in Meteorites says:

Finding out the global warming scientists are doing “Trick”s will do that.

Steven, 2006 was about the time I thought it essential that I study some of latest research re “Global Warming” and “Dangerous CO2”. I had been working two almost-full time jobs (outside of scientific fields) so I can excuse myself for not researching earlier. I also read Science, Nature, Scientific American, and Science News and a number of other journals that piqued my interest. (Include many environmental organizations and their publications in the mix). I believed that the science had been proven and that scientists had honestly researched the “human-made global warming” that was upon us.

At the same time, I knew (parents, excellent high school science foundation) that “the science” is never settled. One of the first clues that some smelled rotten was the certainty; the second was (authoritarian) global policies-solutions proposed. Of course, my dependable publications were involved in the “hoax” — actually the worst fraud in my memory. Needless to say, after collecting some boxes of research files (physics of CO2 and the mis-named greenhouse, ocean circulation, atmosphere, clouds, solar insolation and cycles, thermometer hanky-panky, tree-ring-hide-the-decline, change over geological time, and many more), I realized that the last 30 years had been warming, but that there was no driver more powerful than natural processes (except perhaps on a local or regional basis — land-use change), including Milankovitch insolation and its cycle-timing in the Holocene. I did so much research because the claims were very serious. Very serious, indeed. I did not want to overlook something of hidden importance, e.g., climate sensitivity or tipping points.

Imagine my rage when I found that I had been had. My guess is that a lot of other Americans (and citizens of other countries) have had somewhat similar “conversions”, if only because they have experienced the problem “morphing” when the last one was disproven. I think “climate disruption” is a joke. Couple this experience with the realities of a colder PDO (and AMO? and a major solar minimum?) and higher-taxes-authoritarian control of one’s life expected by champions of fraudulent AGW (whether marxist-maoists or rent-seeking global financial and other corporations), and I think the populace is getting the idea. (I think our unqualified marxist-islamist President was no accident, IMHO.) I imagine a political tsunami is coming and tea parties are just the beginning — unless the fraud has progressed into the core such as voting and proper immigration standards. The Republicans will have the advantage this cycle, but their time is coming; they bought into the fraud when they should have known better (Enron, anyone) for the benefit of their greedy selves and their rent-seeking corporate backers. Cleaning house for science, the scientific method, integrity, transparency, and accountability is on the docket as well as limiting all those overblown governmental powers and elitists who believe they can rule by fiat.

Thanks for your blog and keeping the science before us.
