The Five Fundamental Assumptions Of Bicycle Safety

Spandex – not for everyone

  1. Assume anyone driving a pickup truck is angry and hates cyclists.
  2. Assume anyone under the age of 25 behind the wheel of a car is an idiot.
  3. Assume any driver with a cell phone is an idiot.
  4. Assume that most drivers will accelerate if they see a bicycle approaching a crosswalk.
  5. Never, ever wear spandex into a biker bar

    Change #1 to:
Assume anyone driving any motorized vehicle is angry and hates cyclists.

    Also, add #6:
Assume that anyone turning right, or left, will do their best to not see you.

    Steve,

Not a very flattering photo, I think you need to cut down on the number of pies you eat 🙂

Good, I can’t stand most of the “fancy pants” people riding around town. They blow through stop signs when there are cars there (huge hazard), and the most annoying thing they do is pass all the other bikes at a stop light to get in the front of the line…when they’re still in a very high gear too…crazy frustrating.
