The computer models take Sandy off Hattaras like a million other storms. Then they have Sandy take a unique left turn and landfall in the general Delmarva area. While I would never say never, these models have done similar things with other storms that have failed to materialize. As of now, I am skeptical about the whole thing. Another media circus. Probably at worst, a run of the mill nor’easter.

  2. B.C. says:

Has anyone informed the drooling dunce, Mr. Gleick, that there’s a reason that “hurricane season” extends through to the end of November? I don’t think the experts in the distant past would have called it “hurricane season” and set the nominal dates as June-November if there weren’t a history of hurricanes taking place during that particular time span. Just saying…

I’ve been scouring the the climate models for Hurricane Sandy but I can’t find it. Maybe the problem is the models say this has never happened before?

I want to sympathize with some of these people believing that they have good intentions, but shit like this is just annoying and lying/misleading activism.

  5. eqibno says:

While it is early for a Nor’easter, the dry air entrainment as well as the SW shear is trying to turn Sandy into one. The approaching cold front will hasten Sandy’s Post-tropical transition from a warm-core hurricane to a barometric wind generator. Where it heads is definitely questionable because approaching systems can create uncertainty with locations and timing.
Either way, the East coast will have a wind and wave event that will be considerable but hardly devastating. Like Irene, the bubble of hot-air emanating from DC is once again protecting the US from forms of disaster other than politics. They are selfish and do not want to share in the ruination of the nation…

Did I mention that the credibility that the “cause” receives from the bloviations of Grandmasterfraud Gleick is just ever so welcome…by the skeptics. 🙂

Why are these talking toilets never held accountable for anything they say?

  8. rw says:

Twerps and tweets seem to be made for each other.

  9. Hugh K says:

Excuse me fraudulent ethicist Gleick, but I believe the politicians are a bit busy right now cypherin’ just how many billions of our tax dollars were wasted on Big Green Energy you and your cohorts encouraged with your hallucinogenic prophecies regarding a minute trace gas in the atmoshpere. I’m really surprised you have the gall to even set up a twitter account, much less use it bubble boy.
