Try To Remember That Kind Of September – Before NOAA Was Lying About The Temperature

NOAA claims that September was the 22 hottest in US history, when in fact it was 55th hottest. September temperatures have been declining since 1895.

They cleverly turned a cooling trend into a warming trend.

CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES Climate Summary

This was accomplished by adding almost three degrees on to 2012, relative to 1900.

Seriously, how are they getting away with this stuff?

    • How does Obama get away with lying about everything?

Low testosterone civility. Calling shovels “spades” and being proud of it. Agreeing to argue about the weather all day on the blogs of statistics wonks, instead of using those daily million man hours to address laymen on news sites, world wide. Skeptics never stood up to the plate to offer clear thinking. They blog about the news without telling other readers of articles about it, even, for free, down in the comment section. Perhaps they are not aware of the use of spade, in modern parlance, as a somewhat specialized type of shovel with a typically pointed blade, most useful for breaking hard ground.

But the term “shovel” can be too generic for certain applications, as it applies to several large pieces of powered equipment as well as hand tools. When talking about groundbreaking work — as is being done by skeptic blogs — I prefer to call a spade a spade. (That expression, by the way, is just shy of five centuries old, and is a slight mistranslation of the Greek from millennia before in which “call a fig a fig and a trough a trough” got tweaked because the words for “trough” and “troughing tool” were similar.)

But later, you impugn the bravery of skeptics in a similarly obscure way. Are you also among those who wail when skeptical (in this instance, I refer to “non-catastrophist”) viewpoints are given airtime, as is increasingly visible these days?

And in case you haven’t noticed, skeptic sites such as WUWT, ClimateAudit, and that of our host here (among many others) are news sites. Perhaps you can spread the word beyond their mere millions of hits, and actually get the most popular science blogs in the world a bit better known.

I’d comment with some amusement on the irony of your sexism here, but I suspect that it would take too long to register.

What sites did you have in mind?

Those hicks in the old days didn’t know how to read a thermometer. All their readings were too high. They were all looking at the thermometer cockeyed in the exact same manner, so that no one 100 years in the future could prove global warming. It was a vast right wing conspiracy funded by Big Oil!

Don’t look now Steve, but, NOAA is taking their gig global! Now they’re saying globally this was the hottest September evuh!

Good Morning America stated this morning Sept. was the hottest month since 1880, but they did note there was “slightly” more Antarctica sea ice. No mention of global warming.
