75th Anniversary Of New England’s Deadliest Hurricane

Seventy-five years ago today, a major hurricane narrowly missed New York, but devastated Long Island and New England. Had it made landfall 70 miles to the west, it would have destroyed New York City. My mother remembers seeing trees in Brooklyn bent over to the ground.
