It was one of candidate Obama’s most vivid and concrete campaign promises. Forget about high minded (some might say high sounding) but gauzy promises of hope and change. This candidate solemnly pledged on June 5, 2008: “In an Obama administration, we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year….. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States.” Unfortunately, the experts working for Medicare’s actuary have (yet again[1]) reported that in its first 10 years, Obamacare will boost health spending by “roughly $621 billion” above the amounts Americans would have spent without this misguided law.

With the exception of his family of four. Great salesman, absolute liar.
Salesman is right. Obamacare has zero Obama content. It was conjured up by scummy, statist Congressmen, like John Spratt. Even as one of its principals, Spratt didn’t know what was in it.

Obama, before the joint session of Congress, rattled off talking points that had NO CONNECTION TO ANY ACTUAL LEGISLATION. He quite literally was selling ideas, not actual legislation. Who could be against lower cost health insurance?

We fired Spratt in 2010, but America didn’t fire Obama. Too good of a salesman, I guess.
It’s worse than you thought…
“I know who’s got my vote for the cutest couple since Bonnie and Clyde. It’s the larcenous lovebirds from Chicago: Jan Schakowsky, the most far-left member of Congress, and her bank robber husband, Robert Creamer, who wrote Obamacare in jail.
What a romance! She waited as he served time for sixteen counts of bank fraud, selflessly devoting herself to trying to impeach Dick Cheney and to showering federal funds on her biggest, most ethically challenged contributors.
Endorsed by David Axelrod and SEIU honcho Andrew Stern, Stand Up Straight! gave Democrats the perfect voodoo recipe of lies, lies, and boiled frog’s eyes they used to cook up ObamaCare.”

It is always the goal of the communist to collapse the middle class and the middle men. This allows for distribution of goods and services by the government and leads to a two tier system of the apparatchik and the workers.
I’ve got the sea level argument covered on my blog “Hill of Shizzle” blog

I see Self-serving and Off Topic.
My premiums are up over 90% since Obamacare was signed. If they had gone up at the same rate they’d gone up in the 4 or 5 years I had the plan before Obamacare, they’d be about 1/3 less than they are now. And usually there’s an increase around November. It is now the single largest expense I have, other than housing.
There was an article saying that 20 year olds in California will be paying less than they would be willing to pay per some survey or something. But then I looked at the cost of around $150 to $200 they will end up paying, and that was more than I was paying before Obamacare passed. And I’m in my 40s. Of course that article didn’t compare what it used to cost for 20 year olds because I know it used to be easy to find plans well under $100/month in California.
The thing that people really didn’t like about healtcare before 2008, was the rate of premium increases. Yet what got “fixed” was everything but the cost of healthcare. All the idiots who were saying we pay more than other countries yet get worse outcomes have now put us on a pay to spend even more, and get worse results.
The only plans that are are on an unsustainable path are the government run programs. Insurers have to be solvent by law. So, of course Obamacare put more people into the worst managed programs and somehow there’s the belief that those programs won’t suck up even more money.
The decline in healthcare premiums has been well hidden. Maybe the savings are hiding in the deep ocean?
Perhaps Hansen et al have been reviewing the rate of increase health-care premiums and in a fit of jealousy, applying that rate of increase to the raw temperature data?
But it’s all worth it as long as our Brave New World generations get their contraceptives, sex changes, and abortions for free. Just give Granny a pain pill because the old are disposable.
Premiums may very well be lower but premiums are not related to the cost of health care. They are related to the cost of insurance. Obamacare has nothing to do with health care and everything to do with funding health insurance. The cost of health care will rise to deplete the available (and mandated) funding.
Unaffordable Healthcare Act
Destroying the Middle Class in order to destroy America and steel as much money as you go along. Just screw the entire circus. Get a boat and go sailing.
Nancy Pelousy: “We have to pass the bill to see what’s in it.”
Most Americans: “You passed it, we’ve seen it, we don’t want it.”
Time to flush what you passed, Nancy.
Please flush twice.
I really wonder how much more shit the people of the USA are going to take before they stand up.

When Republicans are nothing more but cloaked Democrats, the statues of one of the most successful conservative Presidents get’s torched, the economy is crushed by debt and unemployment and the current President is after your gun, we can tell this country is in deep, deep trouble.
Time is running out.
Not being a Conservative, I am not philosophically opposed to a national health care system. However the devil is always in the details. Obamacare was engineered for failure, because it has too many perverse incentives.
How much beer went into the crafting of ACA? /sarc
The U.S. gubmint is too corrupt — and our Congress critters are too stupid — to formulate a practical health care system independently. Instead we should have tried to adapt a successful health care system from another developed country. And no, I’m NOT talking about the British model.
