Alarmists Arctic Nightmare Just Beginning

Everything is going wrong for the climate scamsters these days, but no place more than in the Arctic.

With most of the ice shifted into the western Arctic, there is little opportunity for loss of thick ice this winter out the Fram Strait.

They will of course continue to lie about the state of the Arctic for as long as they can, but the click is ticking.

‘… the click is ticking’? Surely not, Inspector Clouseau!

  2. He means the clique, since environmentalism is a clique and if you don’t join you are a denier

Chances of a dramatic shot straight up aren’t so good. But even a spike that didn’t last would be a full year of ridicule we could heap on those dolts.

NSIDC: The minimum ice extent was the sixth lowest in the satellite record, and reinforces the long-term downward trend in Arctic ice extent.

… and the Spurs are standing seventeenth to last in the English Premier League reinforcing the long-term downward trend of the club.

How can a 50%+ increased extent on 2012 reinforce the long-term downward trend? It does nothing of the sort. Spin, spin, spin to keep the lavish funds flowing at a time of tight budgetary limits I suppose.

Steven / folks … most are likely familiar with this website but it was new to me (found it linked at WUWT) and it has some nice stuff … Caleb might like it – more data to ponder!

Thanks for alerting me to the link. It’s actually the second time I’ve been directed there, and the second enjoyable time I’ve spent scrunching my brow trying to fully comprehend the concept. It may take a few more visits, due to the thickness of my skull, but I do like the idea.

I actually am also trying to get my mind around the idea of an oscillation with two centers. For example, imagine an orbit around the earth that we think has a wave in it, because each time it comes around to the moon side the orbit gets tugged out by the moon’s gravity, and then it comes back in. However imagine that it gets tugged out so far one time that rather than orbiting the earth it starts orbiting the moon. Can you imagine the mess this would make of the prior studies? Then a whole new set of ideas would come out based on a new situation, with a wave noted each time the orbit came around to the earth side.

I think there has got to be some sort of arctic ice oscillation vaguely like this, involving two central mechanical processes, and what we are witnessing is that point of time when we shift from a first “center” to a second “center.”

It would be easier to comprehend if chaos wasn’t involved, but it is. (Did you know chaos makes a stable figure-8 orbit unachievable?) That is why I try not to speak of a “sixty-year-cycle,” and rather of a ” cycle-of-ROUGHLY-sixty-years.”

(And also, by the way, the science isn’t settled.)

Humm? Just two. I see three, possibly four primary, ocean currents, wind and jet stream flow, air T, and possibly volcanism. Beyond that three of those four are major players in global climate, and are affected by many other factors, some of those also cyclical. So, to me we have numerous cycles, which are at times in phase, and at times not. I think the major climate shifts occur when a large number of cyclical factors all come in phase to move the climate in one direction..

Stewart pid; yes, very good. I thought the very same thing. That scene only bettered by “does your dog bite……”?

Meanwhile, next years multi-ice will surely be the product of excessive melt caused by warming.

The NH alarmists are on track for a long cold winter.

The coming Arctic season holds much promise for a huge ice extent as if that is something positive or good.

Really, I have always been a bit skeptical about Arctic ice extent as a measure of Man-Made Global Warming in that even at the so called “historic” minimums and the “downward trend” et al BS; I personally, have never thought that Arctic ice extent meant anything as a measure of “Global” warming. I mean just think about it a minute. It is a shallow sea, surrounded by huge land masses and subject to powerful localized ocean currents; buffeted by winds and localized storm systems.

Hell. Anything could happen up there year to year; but most likely it would be cold and nasty just about all the time Man-Made Global Warming or not. Winter comes, darkness comes, freezing, no, staggeringly cold freezing comes, it all as far as it can, freezes solid.

Winter ends. Some of it thaws. Ocean currents. Winds. Storms. Ocean temperatures. Some of it thaws. Life flourishes (incidentally). Repeat cycle.

It is a remote, hostile, freezing cold, little corner of Earth. Charming how it has become such a hotbed of discussion. Really a killing field of wamista dogma. If they had even an inkling of wisdom and knowledge they would have steered clear of the Arctic. Up there, anything can happen – except possibly an ice-free Arctic.

The Warmista are just petty religious fanatics. Idiots. If you don’t think so, just check the data.
