Evaluating Obama’s Sea Level Powers – Five Years Later

Obama said in 2008 that he was absolutely certain that sea level rise was going to slow after that moment.

His prophecy looked promising for a while in 2010, but at this point it appears that his divine powers may be failing him.

I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children …. this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth

He probably needs to check in with his boss.

Look how the rate of sea-level-rise stops or declines at the beginning of the years after 2005. It happens in all years since 2005.
The only strong factor that I imagine is capable of doing this are the solar radiations affecting directly the Antarctic icecap and, more recently, the Arctic too to the point of reverting the general trend.
In the last few years since 2008 the Arctic ice has been close to the average during the winter

the pattern repeated in 2008, 09 and 10, stopped in 2011, come back in 2012 and a little less pronouncedly this year, only to be followed by the coolest summer on record.
If this is correct, I believe we should expect an important deceleration of “sea level rise” or even decline of sea level, during the period of colder climate that we’re entering now.

The little we know. Who knows how this is affecting our system.

      Thanks for the article.
Some experts in climate say that the angular momentum of atmospheric circulation on Earth could be crossing a threshold of stability, after the grand solar maximum of the XX century, followed by the present solar grand minimum, *if* the minimum is intense enough,

I was thinking if this great oscillation in solar radiation levels could be explained/connected also to the inter-stellar dynamics in some way.
The article you linked seems to indicate a possible connection with the direction of the inter-stellar wind.

Nope. I have it good authority that the sea level will rise at least a foot in the next 20-30 years along the Virginia coast.
