Fort Collins – A Classic Study in UHI

The weather station at Fort Collins is located on the CSU campus, and hasn’t moved for over a hundred years. Unlike most of the US, it shows a strong increase in the number of record maximums, and a strong decrease in record minimums.

The weather station started out in the middle of a farm, and is now in the middle of a very busy parking lot and bus terminal.

In 1937, the station was located in the middle of a farm,

By 1950, the area was starting to get built up.

By 1969, the city had surrounded the weather station.

Now it is in the middle of a parking lot.

Good thing they are adjusting for that UHI cooling.

Is it just me or do a lot of those trees look photo shopped in. All the pines and any tree over about 30 ft. look fake. Would someone really try to make it appear more wooded than it really is?

  5. Robertv says:

On google street view the pines on the left are there but look different.

  6. higley7 says:

Why do the tall evergreens in the lower picture look so fake and symmetrical? Check out the trees in the upper left and right as well as lower left.

  7. ntesdorf says:

CO2 causes increases in the size of Cities and the Warmistas adjust for this UHI by increasing recent temperatures and reducing past temperatures!
