My Syria Forecast

My wife is a Russian refugee from the Soviet Union, and I know how Russians think.

My guess is that Putin will make an offer to have Syria give up their chemical weapons, in exchange for the White House ending their financial and military support of the terrorists who are prosecuting the war in Syria.

This will put Obama in an untenable position, and he will probably have a nervous breakdown.

Russians are not crippled by the PC emotional baggage which most Americans have been subject to since they were toddlers. They also are great chess players. They look many moves ahead, and anticipate what their opponent is going to do.

  1. Yes. He might actually have to make a decision based upon all the facts and stick to it. Although, he will likely decide to go play golf and try to pretend the situation never happened.

Personally, I think Syria is just a sideshow. I don’t know exactly what they want us distracted from, but it probably has something to do with the scandals and the pathetic economy. Obama is going on Fox News tonight for heaven’s sake.

Actually, the Pretendident is watching ESPN and playing cards with whoever took Reggie Lovebucket’s job. Kerry is Veg’ing out with his wife, and waiting to learn his opinions and decisions when the King of Saudi Arabia tells him what they are. Valerie Jarret is talking with the Mullahs, plotting America’s downfall.

I’m going to take door number 3, and say that they will lose the communique from Putin, babble amongst themselves incoherently, then arrange another marathon bombing to draw attention from the issue.

You’re at least in the ballpark with this prediction. But if you think that Obama is crippled by any PC emotional baggage, you don’t know him as well as I thought you did.

As I said before, the Syria conflict is street theater, as have been the other Arab revolts. The real ideological front line is in the U.S. (since that is the place not yet brought under an “acceptable” level of control). Both the administration and Russia (and others) are playing key roles in the conflict.

Another Russian metaphor is onion layers.

Yeah, those Russians are real chess players.
They even have “Professional Russians”. This one is playing with the AA-12.

Obama will not have a nervous breakdown, nope, Obama will claim credit for killing Ben Laden and for forcing the Syrians, due to his threats, to rid themselves of the chemical weapons. In other words, it will be barf bag time.

Here’s my stooopid question of the day: Are the Russians really in a position to make such an offer? Assuming that there really was a CW attack in Syria, it’s more likely that the rebels were the perps, and that they were supplied by either Qatar or the USA.

  13. Exactly. It doesn’t matter if they can make good on it. It only matters that it’s made…and people know it’s been made. Putin can renege later and make the SCOAMF look even more feckless.
