Rowers Expecting Four Million km^2 Of Arctic Ice To Melt This Afternoon

This summer’s Arctic weather barely even impacted that long-term trend line at all.”

Just your regular run of the mill 60% increase.

Mr. Solomon’s words echo what the elders told us and what we intuitively understood. The fact that this year’s summer ice will be 1.41 million square kilometres is sobering. To put in in perspective the area of British Columbia and Alberta combined is 1.6 million square kilometres. Climate change is happening and is being evidenced even during a cold year like we just experienced.

Sounds like Kevin has been hitting the pub a little bit too hard. Dublin has had some cold weather this week.

Clearly they left out the “below the 1981-2010 average” bit from the second reference to the figure.

    • In other words, they got their asses kicked by the Arctic and are in deep denial.

      • As Churchill said, “Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.” Kevin is an example of this phenomenon.

    • Jimbo says:

When warmists screamed about Arctic ice extent last year I simply smiled. It was largely caused by a storm so I knew this year (in the absence of another one) things would look dramatically better. 😉

      • That’s right, Jimbo.

I said last year that the record low then was bad news for warmists, as it was unlikely we would get close to it again in the next few years.

It’s a bit like 1998. It gave Hansen and co a chance to crow at the time, but is now embarrassing for them as they can only claim warmer years by fiddling the figures.

  2. Andy DC says:

Poor little cry babies. Basically “we failed, but it wasn’t our fault and our premise about climate change is still valid.”

I like the way that say 6th lowest of the “satellite era”. What they don’t say is the dawn of the satellite era (1979) coincided with coldest weather of the last 100 years, basically a 30 year period of global cooling. Where would this year rank with the 1930’s or even 1950’s? That would mean a lot more from a historical prospective.

  3. The Iconoclast says:

For all the bluster they’ve gotten a grand total of 216 signatures on their climate change petition. I think the only people closely following the Arctic Joule were the skeptics.

  4. Justa Joe says:

    mugged by reality

  5. Hugh K says:

    “Climate change is happening…”
Yes, unlike global warming that didn’t quite pan out. Every time Kevin opens his mouth it becomes abundantly clear why he was paid to pull a boat. Much like the other asses back on the Erie Canal.
