They accepted that their very bodies were owned by the State. No wonder millions of Germans were sent to certain death, in the concentration camps like on the battlefields.
Replace a person’s conscience with strong dogma and you can get that person to do some pretty awful things. Many studies have shown the various mechanisms, nothing new here. Koop was a pretty odd fellow to behold, especially when he dressed as “Dr. God” in that uniform.
