On hundred thirteen years ago today, a major hurricane was about to hit Galveston, Texas. The massive storm surge destroyed most of the city and killed 10,000 people.
Galveston is close to my heart. I met my wife in Galveston, my father in law was nearly killed riding his bike there, and the man who introduced me to my wife died shortly thereafter of AIDS in Galveston. It was a horrible way to go, but he was thinking about other people right up to the end.
People who claim hurricanes are getting worse touch a raw nerve with me.
Tonight I will toast Galveston and the USS Minnesota!!
People were poorer back then and society was poorer as well because we didn’t have advances like satellites to show us what was coming. Warmists want to make us poorer and take away advancements like cheap energy which will make us more vulnerable again.
People in Galveston were warned by the Weather Bureau 24 hours in advance, but like Ike in 2008 – they didn’t leave. Telegraph messages gave them plenty of notice.
