Hottest August Ever Update

Gavin says we are experiencing record heat due to very warm polar temperatures, which explains why global sea ice area is the highest since 1997, above normal and higher than 30 years ago.

I always use ice cubes to cook my soup.

  2. Davol says:

What record head? Where’s your documentation that there has even been ‘Record’ heat this year or last year anywhere on Earth?

  3. Derron says:

So, warmer weather results in more ice these days? We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

  4. Don says:

I’ve been met with the meme that the ice is caused by the heat on DefendingTheTruth dot com

    Insanity takes many paths.

That GISS note is as convincing as the masterminds foreign policy. …

So, again, when will the Lukewarmers desert their sinking ship? Almost 20 years with flat temps, but rising atmospheric CO2, yet they cling to the IPCC science.

It’s almost as if they WANT go believe Bad Science,

    • Gail Combs says:

      You keep missing the point.
      1. So CO2 does interact with ‘photons’ aka energy. So what EVERYTHING DOES.

      2. So CO2 grabs a photon. SO WHAT it immediately hands that energy off to other gases. In other words it is doing nothing different then conduction

The big point is the exponential curve which Dr Happer with his research on line broading just squashed even flatter.

To quote Dr Happer’s Slide #43

      Using Voigt profiles increases
      the radiative-forcing increment
from doubling CO2 by a factor
      ~1.4
But far wing absorption from Voigt
      profiles does not exist!

      Need experimental measurements

And Slide 44 GIVES the experimental measurements!

Voigt Line Shapes Don’t Work in Far Wings!
      [Fiqure]
Fig. VII.15: Radiance emitted by the Earth amosphere in the region of the v2 CO2 band for a 1cm^-1 resolution. The thin line gives measured values obtained by a balloon-born insturment at 40km altitude looking down to a tangent height of 10km. The thick line corresponds to predictions using purley Voigt line shapes

Here is the curve that needs to be shoved in every warmist’s face.

Dang. I want that book (and a dozen others), but I don’t have $200 to spare right now :(.

        • Gail Combs says:

You could always try the library or in a pinch a university library.

        • cdquarles says:

That’s not going to happen at the library near me and the University library that I would have access to is 50 (doctoral) or 100 (undergrad) miles away from me.

        • Gail Combs says:

          No inter-library loan?

BTW Amazon has the book used: 7 Used from $166.00

        • philjourdan says:

Slightly off topic (and late). I found a book on Amazon from an author that was studying the early mixing of the Eastern Cherokee tribe with the Scotch-Irish immigrants (one of the legs of my family). Amazon had it for $155. However, the authors website had it for about $50. You might want to check the author’s website (I bought it from the author – Unhallowed Intrusions – fascinating book!).

        • cdquarles says:

Local interlibrary loan isn’t worth the hassle. I can’t spare $100 right now. Kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc. 😛

      • geran says:

geran: “Gail, your hair is on fire!”

        Gail: “I don’t wear hats.” ?
(She adds a link to a site that has photos of women wearing hats.)

geran: “Gail, no really, your hair is on fire. I didn’t say anything about ‘hats’”.

Gail: “Hats are not the same as caps.”
(She adds links to 3 sites about the manufacturing of hats and caps.)

geran: “Gail, you’re going to be seriously burned! Your hair is ON FIRE!)

Gail: “Caps come in many colors, white, blue, green, even orange.”
(She provides links to a site that discusses wavelengths of various colors.)

geran: [Long sigh.] “Okay, don’t put out the fire, see what happens. I tried to warn you.

Gail: “The banksters have long controlled the fire departments.”
(She provides a link about a small community that issued city bonds to purchase two new firetrucks.)

        geran: I give up….

  7. Phil Jones says:

Heat creates more Ice…. And warmer temperatures are bad for everything…

    Government Busted…

    Hockey Stick prevails…
Gavin says Hot… Data says not…

    … I love 1984…

  8. Brad says:

But you see, it’s the melting interior of the Antarctic due to CAGW that is causing the sea ice increase. These scientists say so. C’mon, can’t you read? (sarcasm is a wonderful thing)
