Former Obama adviser calls for tax on carbon emissions | TheHill

The thought of middle class people being able to pay some of their bills, is apparently unacceptable to the Obama administration.

They won’t be satisfied until everyone but the ruling political class, the intelligentsia, and the economic winners they pick are all on Government cheese.

    • Pass it on. says:

February 27th 2015 will mark the 82nt anniversary of the Reichstag Fire (Germany’s Congress) in 1933.

Adolph Hitler used the Reichstag Fire as the pretense to pass the Enabling Act that allowed Hitler to rule Germany by Executive Decree. Our very own Hitler want-to-be is even as I type making plans to rule the United States by Executive Decree exactly like the evil fascists dictator did between 1933 to 1945.

Contact your GOP Senate and House members and ask them to carry a fire extinguisher and wear fire mans’ gear to the Capital Building on 02/27/2015 as a silent protest and reminder of where one man rule ultimately leads.

I just read this post on another blog. I think that it is a brilliant idea. If you agree then pass it on.

It is most punishing to bitter folk, who cling to guns or religion, urban dwellers don’t buy a lot of gasoline.

    • rah says:

It was a real eye opener to me to meet middle class folks in NYC that rarely left their own little borough let alone got out of the city. Basically their entire life contained in a few blocks and many of them seemed quite satisfied with that. That is when I came to realize that big city sophistication is a myth.

      • Gail Combs says:

That is exactly what the Elite want. Transit Villages aka feudalism. Telling their would be serfs that they are ‘superior’ to the gun toting bible thumping neanderthals in Flyover country is just another part of the brain washing.

Feudal land tenure, system by which land was held by tenants from lords. As developed in medieval England and France, the king was lord paramount with numerous levels of lesser lords down to the occupying tenant.

Tenures were divided into free and unfree….
        http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/205571/feudal-land-tenure

If you read that article and substitute International Corporate Cartels for Lords: “Of the free tenures, the first was tenure in chivalry, principally grand sergeanty and knight service. The former obliged the tenant to perform some honourable and often personal service” The new ‘honourable and often personal service’ is producing campaign funds and endorsements and in return being granted a ‘monopoly’ or other protection from competition the modern version of a fiefdom.

“Another form of free tenure was the spiritual tenure of bishops or monasteries, their sole obligation being to pray for the souls of the grantor and his heirs.” Seems the Britannica left out the real reason why the king supported the ‘ bishops or monasteries’ -The brain washing they did to the serfs to get them to believe in ” The Divine Right of Kings” (Sounds like present day Academia and Media.)

I heard this song performed live by Clam Chowder (now officially retired – yet again – in 2013)
        http://clamchowdermusic.com/list_clam.html

        Lyrics:

We are the worms of the earth
        Chorus:
For we are the worms of the earth,
        Against the lions of might.
All of our days we are tied to the land
While they hunt and they feast and they fight.

We give our crops and our homes and our lives,
And the clerics tell us this is right.

        Well, they’ve beat us before
        And they’ll beat us again,
But we’ll drink from their helmets tonight.

My father worked on the land,
As did his father before him
        Plowing and sowing by hand,
And he harvested what the land bore him.

He was killed by the robbers before I was ten.
One stroke of the sword, and then they were gone,
While our lord strutted bravely atop his tall wall
And did nothing to hinder the slaughter.

        Chorus

Our lord went away to the wars
        Mounted atop a tall stallion,
To fight for some noble cause
With his knights and his henchmen to guard him.

        We heard he’d been captured with all of his men;
And for that they raised our taxes again
To pay the great ransom in gold and in gems.
To bring our lord back to rule us.

        Chorus

        This year there was a great drought;
Our crops they burned in the field.
Not that our lord did without,
For his men took all that they found.

When our lord came among us with some of his men
        To announce that our taxes were raised yet again;
Then a few of us acted on our desperate plan,
And his body was meat for the crows.

Seems nothing really changes just the names and methods of subjugation.

Gail, or anyone, a question completely out of context.
On what data and in what earth surface area is NASA claiming that 2014 is one of the earth’s warmest ? Anyone?

    • There Is No Substitute for Victory! says:

Your right gator, but the urban folks sure do sop up a lot of road building and maintenance funding, paid into the public treasury mostly by suburban and rural citizens, then the urbanites waste this gasoline tax money on Rapid Transit wet dream projects to nowhere.

  3. Pathway says:

For communism to succeed the middle class must be crushed.

  4. B says:

Taxes are serfdom, but taxes can only go so far before people revolt unless income can replaced. Income is replaced with borrowing. Which makes sense since this country is a company town where instead of physical chains slavery is accomplished through debt.

    • Gail Combs says:

If folks ever figured out how much of their wealth is actually stolen by the Banksters there would be a revolt the next day.

Only three percent of our money supply is cash the rest is ‘loans’ House loans, car loans, business loans, credit cards to pay for everything from groceries to haircuts, college loans (Ever wonder why there is such a big push to get everyone a college degree?) Every single one of those loans is printed out of thin air but every single one has to be paid back with your labor with interest and fees attached. Even if you pay off your credit card in full each month the vendor has to pay a transaction fee and that will be passed on to you.

If you are not paid in cash (Very rarely happens these days) and do all your business in cash. And that is really tough to do these days, then you are ripped off by the banksters.

  5. Robertv says:

Big Brother people. Not only do they want you poor they also want to know where you are every moment of the day and store all this information forever.

Just imagine what an evil dictator could do with all this information.

    • gator69 says:

      Who needs to imagine?

    • There Is No Substitute for Victory! says:

Even more ominous, imagine what a Simon Legree or other ruthless overseer could do with that information! Also with that information it would be very easy to register or reregister millions of new or phony voters. Did I just hear Billary Clinton’s cash register go K- Ching K-Ching?

  6. Louis Hooffstetter says:

is anyone surprised? This is what the global warming scam has been about all along. Convince the sheeple there’s a problem they can all help solve with a modest tax, and they’ll be less inclined to complain. This is precisely why ‘progressive’ governments around the planet have conspired for years to ‘adjust’ temperature, ice, and sea level data.

Rational people need to bring class action suits against their governments for fraud.

  7. He’s right, though. It’s a great time to pass a new tax, especially if it’s a percentage rather than a flat per gallon tax. Then when gas prices go back up in a year or two, everybody who doesn’t ride the bus is well & truly fucked.

    • SqueezedDry says:

This proposal is weird to me on so many levels.

First, gas taxes are a regressive tax which hits middle class commuters the hardest, not the ‘fat cats’ the administration claims to be targeting.

Second, the taxes and fees associated with gas are already staggering. We’re already paying an average of 48.8 cents per gallon in federal and state taxes, another 4.3 cents in credit card transaction fees, and another 8-10 cents in cost for marketing that same gas to us.

In total only about 50% of the total bill is actually for the underlying cost of obtaining, refining and delivering the gas.

  8. GoneWithTheWind says:

This what the AGW meme was/is always about. It was always about getting your money and your rights. The new taxes in California will punish “polluters” but it rewards the ruling class. That money goes into a huge slush fund that elected officials can use to buy votes and pay off supporters. This is exactly why the pope supports the AGW meme. He too expects to share in some of the money and power being doled out. No not personally but to spend as he chooses. This will not end, even when the proof is obvious to everyone that AGW is a scam the politicians will still be passing laws to extract more from you. It is too good to give up and must be destroyed and a stake driven through it’s heart before it will stop sucking blood from your neck.

  9. Edmonton Al says:

Obama will soon be taxing your breath.
    • CO2 data shows nobody’s dead from a little carbon dioxide – ‘A little CO2 won’t hurt you. A lot of CO2 won’t hurt you. You breathe out 40,000 ppm with every breath. Do you worry about California banning YOU from breathing out?’
The following summarizes levels of CO2 under various conditions:
40,000 ppm: The exhaled breath of normal, healthy people.
8,000 ppm: CO2 standard for submarines
2,500 ppm: CO2 level in a small hot crowded bar in the city
2,000 ppm: The point at which my CO2 meter squawks by playing Fur Elise
1,000 to 2,000 ppm: Historical norms for the earth’s atmosphere over the past 550 million years
1,000 to 2,000 ppm: The level of CO2 at which plant growers like to keep their greenhouses
1,000 ppm: Average level in a lecture hall filled with students
600 ppm: CO2 level in my office with me and my husband in it
490 ppm: CO2 level in my office working alone
390 ppm: Current average outdoor level of CO2 in the air
280 ppm: Pre-industrial levels in the air, on the edge of “CO2 famine” for plants
150 ppm: The point below which most plants die of CO2 starvation

    • DavidS says:

      Good list, thank you.

    • 600 ppm: CO2 level in my office with me and my husband in it

      Do tell!

    • Gail Combs says:

“150 ppm: The point below which most plants die of CO2 starvation.”
      ………

What is interesting is the fact the point where plants starve has been changed to fit the rigged Ice core data.

I have in my very old notes “200 pm CO2 trees starve” http://biblioteca.universia.net/ficha.do?id=912067

but the link no longer works… Now all the searches turn up papers showing 180 ppm or lower….HMMMmmmm
I back then I check a couple of studies. The 180 -200 ppm CO2 for trees is now based on “models” derived from the ice cores. GRRRrrrr

Then there is this from a book on Tomato plants.
      CO2 depletion in a greenhouse

Plant photosynthetic activity can reduce the Co2 within the plant canopy to between 200 and 250 ppm… I observed a 50 ppm drop in within a tomato plant canopy just a few minutes after direct sunlight at dawn entered a green house (Harper et al 1979) … photosynthesis can be halted when CO2 concentration aproaches 200 ppm… (Morgan 2003) Carbon dioxide is heavier than air and does not easily mix into the greenhouse atmosphere by diffusion… Tomato Plant Culture: In the Field, Greenhouse, and Home Garden, Second Edition By J. Benton Jones, Jr.

As Dr. J. A. Glassman so aptly put it in one of his replies,

So why are the graphs so unscientifically pat? One reason is provided by the IPCC:
The longitudinal variations in CO2 concentration reflecting net surface sources and sinks are on annual average typically calibration procedures within and between monitoring networks (Keeling et al., 1989; Conway et al., 1994). Bold added, TAR, p. 211.

So what the Consensus has done is to “calibrate” the various records into agreement. And there can be no other meaning for “calibration procedures … between monitoring networks”. It accounts for coincidence in simultaneous records and it accounts for continuity between adjacent records. The most interesting information in this procedure would be the exact amount of calibration necessary to achieve the objective of nearly flawless measuring with the modern record dominating. The IPCC’s method is unacceptable in science. It is akin to the IPCC practice of making “flux adjustments” to make its various models agree. See TAR for 87 references to “flux adjustment”, and see 4AR for its excuse, condemnation, and abandonment. 4AR p. 117.
      http://www.rocketscientistsjournal.com/2006/11/gavin_schmidt_on_the_acquittal.html

In other words the IPCC mix and match data at will to get their desired results.

Anyone remember the Hockey stick graph?

That ain’t science, however you view it, it’s politics, pure and simple but we already knew that.

East of the Rockies will experience below seasonal temperatures as air masses that originated in Siberia cross over the North Pole before plunging south into Canada. The cold air crossing the open waters of the Great Lakes will produce narrow bands of lake effect snow, with dangerous travel conditions in the traditional snowbelt regions south and east of the lakes.

Wasn’t Larry Summers the president of Harvard until he said something that offended some progressive women professors? He took quite a beat down for making a suggestion. Others were asking a group of men and women present at an open discussion on why more women don’t go into science. Poor Larry asked those present if they had ever considered that women don’t like science as much as men do. It wasn’t something he necessarily believed in, he just wanted to make sure it was included in the discussion. He got pilloried over that comment and had to resign his position.

God forbid he should ever bring up Bill Clintons sex life to the same group. Oh wait………….Bill Clintons sex life is off limits to progressives. You must turn your head the other way, or stick it in the sand when it comes to discussing Clinton straying off the Hillary reservation if you are a progressive.
