Put a stupid idea in a scientist’s head, and look how far he will run with it.

Yes, we are all a little too arrogant and self-centered to be good scientists.

The best advice seems to be that from the East:
To know that you don’t know is best.
To pretend to know what you do not know is a disease.”

Scientists, politicians and intellectuals of the same era also expounded vehemently and favorably on the theory of Eugenics. That got 6 million Jews murdered. How much are humans are going to suffer if environmentalists and progressives continue to get their way?

Thanks for all you do, Mr. Goddard. FYI – This “Whistleblower Doctor”, Dr. John O’Connor, (who made trips to Europe, courtesy of Greenpeace…) had claimed extremely high numbers of a very rare cancer, which he ‘failed’ to report to the provincial health authority and/or cancer agency. The truth (about his lies) has finally come to the surface, in the form of the government and cancer agency investigation into his claims – this is a shameful example of how untruthful some ‘scientists’, (or climate fanatics carrying a variety of doctorates) can be. Oh my god!

My grandfather, Edison Pettit, worked for Lowell at his observatory!!! He did the Mars research for the guy. He mapped the ‘canals’ and these turned out to be totally wrong.

When I was a child, my grandfather would say to me, ‘Look, once people think something is true, they will confirm this even if the real evidence points the other way.’ He was very annoyed at being misled.

By the way, he drew many of the Mars pictures from before WWI and until WWII and these shows the changes in the Mars ice caps over this long period, shrinking when the sun warmed up things and expanding when cooling cycles happened.

A guy with the name Camille Flammarian should be the patron saint of global warming climate science.

Hi Stephen, I am so glad that you have found this Martian story of Prof Lowell. At one stage this story was headline news of the NYT. This theme of life on Mars was used by Edgar Rice Burroughs (?) who wrote the Tarzan stories and somewhere in his catalog of books you will find Tarzan fighting Martians on Mars, It also prompted HG Wells to write about the Martians invading earth, a Book used by Orson Wells to cause mayhem on the streets of New York in the late 1930s when he broadcasted that on radio. The full extent of the influence of life on Mars scientific proven fact on the mid 20th century mindset is a book that begs to be written.
