Democrats have intentionally turned Baltimore into a complete hell hole of government dependency, crime, drugs and hopelessness, because government dependents vote almost 100% for Democrats.
Then they allow their thugs to destroy the city, and run all the businesses out – and think they can make everything better by lynching cops who were trying to keep the city safe.

Downtown Baltimore has turned into a ghost town. The Orioles are playing their home games in Florida. The mayor allowed thugs to destroy hundreds of Korean businesses, because apparently Korean Lives Don’t Matter to her.
Baltimore doesn’t need touchy feely healing. It needs to get rid of the Democratic politicians who have destroyed the city, and get rid of their generation of thugs who have wrecked the schools, city and are starting to wreck nearby cities like Columbia, MD where I am currently residing.

Pictures of Baltimore “citizens” dancing in the streets following the indictment announcement reminded me of the Palestinians dancing in the streets after the 9-11 attack.
But isn’t housing “affordable” within the city?
Fact is that Maryland did relatively well financially during the last recession compared to us folks that live outside the strong financial influence of Washington DC. So they could maintain a good level of handouts to the sick, lame, and lazy. So unfortunately I don’t see those boneheads electing any conservative or libertarian to high office. You have stated why that is the case already. They will start changing only when the big money starts leaving town, and only then just enough to appease those big players.

“conservative”? How so? The man refuses to state his positions on most critical social issues and has been appointing democrats to key positions. He has stated he will “respect Maryland’s current laws” specifically in reference to the oppressive gun laws in the state. He seems to be a fiscal conservative but that is it. Now that may be “conservative” in the world of the I-95 corridor, but it ain’t even close to meeting the definition of that term out here where corn and soybeans are grown.
Social conservatism it not a winning issue at this point.

Oh, BTW just to make my position clear Tony. I sincerely hope your right and I’m wrong. But even if you are correct and the man turns out to be a true conservative, he will have to really be a genius to get much done in the face of the democrat machine in that state.

Uh, OK- I am not an “establishment republican”. But, the fact is to win the general election, the republicans do have to appeal to the middle.

The country is in a fiscal and foreign policy crisis (and a regulatory one). The Republicans need to run on those issues and offer practical solutions. They will not win crowing about things such as gay marriage or abortion. Just my opinion.
Appealing to the middle is totally relative as determined by where you are running. I have the luxury of not being a politician. I’m far to honest for that profession. But don’t try and tell me it’s raining while your pissing down my back.
IOW, in the context of national politics, the definition of a “Conservative” does not change from place to place. You either adhere to the concepts or you don’t. You either believe in the right of the private citizen to bear arms, or you don’t. You either believe in limited government or you don’t. You either believe in the American people, or you don’t. etc, etc.

They didn’t matter during the entire war in Iraq when murders in Chicago outnumbered US KIA on a regular basis during the warmer times of the year in that city.
The press consistently hyped the war casualty numbers while failing to put them in such a context.

It doesn’t seem to be an accident that Democrat politicians allowed things to get out of hand, and newsworthy in both Ferguson and Baltimore. Had looting and rioting been shut down right away in both instances, there would not have been weeks and months of media coverage. That was the goal.
Hilary is not going to get the automatic block vote that Obama picked up. Giving work permits to millions of illegals hits most directly at those who are vying for the same jobs, and that program is ramping up into 2016. Which might be a good reason for voters to stay home. But if instead of economic concerns, they’re focused on a false narrative of being targeted, they might be prodded to show up.

Good reason? It would be idiotic for voters to stay home. Now more than ever people need to get involved. I wouldn’t count on Hillary not getting the “block” votes. Republicans continually blow it on communication and I wouldn’t count on them to avoid doing so this time either. If they nominate another milk toast Hillary will win. It is an opportunity, you could have someone like Ben Carson appealing to at least a % of the black community. But we are just as likely to end up with Jeb Milk Toast Bush as President and someone like Paul Ryan as VP. I didn’t have anything against Paul Ryan but choosing someone like that as your VP actually reinforced negative perceptions about Romney rather than countering them.

I moved out of the city permanently15 years ago, and will never go back. Life in the sticks is the only way I keep my sanity in this mad mad mad mad world.
I own my own mountain. from the stream below to the top. I have birds, deer, predators, amphibians, fish and insects as neighbors. Some of these provide me with food.
