Worse than the Dust Bowl? Oklahoma isn’t listed as being in a drought at all.

Kelsey would get the worst climate story of the day award, except that I am about to award that to someone else.

I think you need to do a little more research. Please don’t pretend to know what’s going on in Oklahoma! http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu

I think you need to do a little more research. Instead of pretending like you know what is going on in Oklahoma.

And they keep on telling us that the end is now near.
As predictions are not happening in the way that they say,
And the claims just get wilder, day after day….”

We are surround by educated idiots, God help us.

  6. Ron Clutz says:

In attacking fossil fuels, they forget, or don’t know what will be consequences.

Rain is the forgotten determinant of climate.

  7. Gail Combs says:

You just don’t understand Tony, the climate is determined by what is happening in Californicate. No where else matters unless of course it is very hot, or there is a drought and therefore supports CAGW.

    • Yep… its their latest tactic… search Globally for any big storm… any big Climate event or disaster… and tie it to Climate Change!!

People are sooooo stupid and FEARFULL… 5he Hoaxers prey on this…

    The Dustbowl was just “weather”.

Haven’t you seen the long line of SUV’s headed to California.

We need more water pipelines, like Captain Kirk proposes to save California.

“Actor William Shatner proposes pipeline to solve California drought”

“The “Star Trek” star has told Yahoo! Tech journalist David Pogue he intends to start a crowdsource campaign on Kickstarter.com to raise $30 billion for a pipeline to bring water from the Seattle area for use by thirsty California.

“How bad would it be to get a large, 4-foot pipeline, keep it above ground – because if it leaks, you’re irrigating,” the 84-year-old Shatner told Yahoo! in a story posted on Friday.”

      Obama and Buffet prefer trains.

      • Gail Combs says:

At least a train filled with water will not blow up or attract eco-monkey wrenchers.

“But 42 years after he invented its modern form, picking up on the original system developed by Israeli water engineer Simcha Blass, drip-irrigation technology is still in its infancy, said Mehudar. “Only 5% of the world’s farmers are using it – most of them still rely on traditional flood irrigation,” in which fields are inundated with water. It works fine in areas where there is a lot of water or rainfall – but no so well in many of the marginal areas of the developing world, and not at all when drought strikes.

“Eventually farmers around the world are going to realize the advantages,” said Mehudar. “There will soon be twice as many mouths to feed in the world as there are now, and of all the much-discussed technologies out there – including genetic modification – the only technology that has been proven to expand the amount of available land for crop growing, including the semi-arid land we are going to need to grow the food to feed those people, is drip-irrigation technology. Netafim may be decades old, but this is just the beginning for our tech.”

As a climatology student, in between the global cooling scare and the great global warming swindle, I wrote a paper on Desertification. It was all the rage, in climatology circles. Of course back then, in order to do research one had to go to this thing called a “library” and check out “books”, as Al Gore had not yet invented the internet.

Every source I could find, almost exclusively university and government research, said that the deserts would continue expanding at an ever faster rate, and that if we did not spend the world’s treasure on mitigation immediately, we would all die in a sea of sand. So that was basically the conclusion of my paper, and boy did I learn a lesson. I should have known better because I had already spent over 5 years as a geology student by then.

That is the reason why, when I first heard the “global warming is man’s fault” meme, I immediately said “BS”.

A section of my paper was heavy on drip irrigation, of which I am still a huge fan, so 2 lessons learned.

Yep, the Malthusians have been wrong for a couple hundred years now. That’s why instead of the CAGW I call it the MAD for Malthusian Apocalyptic Death cult.

        • gator69 says:

You got me thinking, and I think MAGIC should be the new acronym.

          Malthusian Anti Growth Immolation Cult

        • OrganicFool says:

I’m waiting for their mass suicide program like other death cults (eg, Jim Jones, Heaven’s Gate). They advocate depopulation on large scales like Paul Elrich. I think they could get started with a good positive motto like “Save the Planet, Kill Yourself”. I might even get t-shirts made and sell it to them. They can save the planet and I can create jobs. Win-win.

        • OrganicFool says:

Correction, Paul Ehrlich (as in the Stanford Professor, author of The Population Bomb)

        • Gail Combs says:

The problem in California if I understand correctly is farmers have to use up ALL of their water allotment or lost the entire allotment.

        • Brian H says:

Even better, carbonate the water and give them club soda.

    • rah says:

Too many people to be sustained economically in that naturally arid land of S. California. That is all there is too it. And old William Shatner? God Love him but the simple fact is California has reached the limit on stealing water from other states. Here is the best single clip from that mans full career as far as I’m concerned.

  11. Andy DC says:

To say these people are loose with the facts is one of the great statements of all time. I thought the whole notion of a “free press” was to challenge untruthfulness by others in the media. Except for bloggers on the Internet, the free press is missing in action.
