President Barack Obama says that 2014 was the hottest year on record, and that this was evidenced by 45 million Americans experiencing 100 degree temperatures. He says this is a “fact.”
In fact, last summer was one of the coolest on record in the US, with just over 20% of the US reaching 100 degrees. Normally that number is closer to 40%. In 1936, three quarters of US stations reached 100 degrees.

The entire US was blistering hot in the summer of 1936. Ninety-eight percent of midwest stations reached 100 degrees, compared to less than 2% last summer. During July, 1936 parts of the country averaged a mind-boggling 12 degrees above normal.

Globally, temperatures were nowhere near the hottest on record, and have been on a downwards trend for 18 years.

Seriously, I have spent quite a few years discussing politics with the anarchist crowd, real anarchists, the ones who disavow all aggression and who have taken “you mind your business and I’ll mind mine” to its logical end point. Still, I keep coming back to Jeffersonian minarchism; small government, “small enough to strangle in its crib” if the need be, with only a very small and limited area of power. The anarchists do, in fact have a level of moral purity which I admire — “if small government is good, then NO government is best!” — but I honestly do not think that we humans are capable en mass of the high level of ethics which it requires. Jeffersonian small government has its problems too, the most apparent of which is the tendency for small government (like Topsy) to “just grow”. Still, I think Jefferson had it right. We have certain rights just by virtue of being sentient humans. Small government is not perfect, but is (considering how we humans presently are constituted) the best approach we have to ensuring those rights. If we ever succeed in getting the bulk of humanity to the point that small government works, then, maybe, we can experiment with no government at all…

Jefferson (and the founders) had what seemed to be a good idea, radical for its time, and they fought to give it a chance. It has had its chance and failed. Governments by their nature, grow their power, and an organization with enough power is like a septic tank, the scum rises to the top. It took them awhile but the elite now control almost everything worth the effort to control. It doesn’t really matter if you want mini government or peaceful anarchy. You can’t get there from here!
We now have a government that “farms” productive citizens for the profit of the elite, somewhat like ants farm aphids, but with less care. The elite will not let that go easily. Changing it peacefully is not possible, and an attempt at violent change, supposedly successful or not, leads to a more violent (ie.worse) government with the elite still in control.
I do not think it’s an accident that our schools and media (and fluoride etc) have dumbed down average citizens so they cannot even imagine life without government, let alone step up to the individual responsibility that living without government would require. Even if they were ready, the present government will not let large numbers of citizens publicly ignore it. A promoted attempt at peaceful anarchy any time soon will likely fill a few new prisons in the american gulag.

Got to offset those things with MAY have gone extinct with those things that had been thought extinct, but then had been sighted again. While I don’t keep track of these, I recall there have been several over the last couple of decades. Perhaps even enough to offset that list of possible extinctions.

Skeptics need to remain vigilant in rebutting these deceptions. Regardless of global temps US temps are on a decade long cooling trend so making claims about US temps is utter nonsense. If skeptics don’t point this out every time such deceptions are broadcast then they can say anything and get away with it.
The new “pristine” stations put in place in 2005 show a cooling of approx. 0.5ºF/decade in the USA.
This fact needs to be kept front and centre to counter the LIES and PROPAGANDA that continues to spew like a technocolour yawn from these “™climate change™” scammers.

We were talking about how hot it was in 2011 during the drought in Texas and my mom told us about the summer of 1936 in Dallas. A few of the things she recalled:
Watching the big thermometer at the Texas Centennial State Fair register 113 degrees
Hearing about people dying of heat stroke while sitting in traffic
Pushing their beds out into the night air to sleep
My parents moved to Houston after WWII and I recall we got our first air conditioner when my dad wanted to sell the little house we lived in. In 1959 he hung a window unit in it and we were in total bliss.
Notice they never quote the data. Who wants to think 2/100 degree with 38% confidence level is alarming? No its HOTTEST ever.
