“Snowdon to be snowfree by the end of the century”

  2. Gator says:

We deniers do a really bad job of killing people, so far not one dead body to show for all of our efforts. We just cannot keep up with the millions that believers kill every year, by denying them available resources.

    • R Shearer says:

That goodness this all ends in 12 years because most couldn’t bear to live in the totalitarian socialist regime that Ocasio-Cortez is advocating.

So the Earth ends during her second term in office as president . Makes sense. Probably nuclear war when she has nothing more to lose.

    “Not condoning violence, …”

condone = to regard as acceptable or forgivable

Clearly he condones. Methinks he actually meant “Not ADVOCATING …” instead (although even that is debatable).

    • All looter altruists advocate, condone and urge men with guns to practice the initiation of force. Some claim to be acting as “warriors for the babies,” others for “transfer payments from producers to non-producers,” still others to stop catastrophic misanthropic global warming or to please Allah. The one constant everything else varies about is the notion that the initiation of coercive, harmful and deadly force is absolutely necessary and must not be questioned.

Leftism is a religious cult, and a mental illness. These people really believe this climate change garbage. They really think they’re all going to die from 0.04% CO2 in the atmosphere. It’s scary. Nothing scientific about it at all, but their fervent belief in it is what I’d expect from a truly ignorant group of people who all have worthless degrees in the humanities, and aren’t even capable of changing a flat tire on their Prius.

No logical reasoning ability whatsoever. It’s nothing but out of control hysteria.

    • griff says:

No, this is out of control hysteria. And it isn’t the left driving it…

      • Anon says:

Griff is on the right track:

What happens to those caught up in the toxic lies of conspiracy theorists?

At best, we can conclude that the official guidelines did not achieve their objective; at worst, they led to a decades-long health catastrophe.

In 1972, a British scientist sounded the alarm that sugar – and not fat – was the greatest danger to our health. But his findings were ridiculed and his reputation ruined. How did the world’s top nutrition scientists get it so wrong for so long?

All the same elements and players are present:

“If only a small fraction of what we know about the effects of sugar were to be revealed in relation to any other material used as a food additive,” wrote Yudkin, “that material would promptly be banned.” The book did well, but Yudkin paid a high price for it. Prominent nutritionists combined with the food industry to destroy his reputation, and his career never recovered. He died, in 1995, a disappointed, largely. forgotten man.

These sharp fluctuations in Yudkin’s stock have had little to do with the scientific method, and a lot to do with the unscientific way in which the field of nutrition has conducted itself over the years. This story, which has begun to emerge in the past decade, has been brought to public attention largely by sceptical outsiders rather than eminent nutritionists.

Throughout the 1960s, Keys accumulated institutional power. He secured places for himself and his allies on the boards of the most influential bodies in American healthcare, including the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health. From these strongholds, they directed funds to like-minded researchers, and issued authoritative advice to the nation. “People should know the facts,” Keys told Time magazine.

Although Keys had shown a correlation between heart disease and saturated fat, he had not excluded the possibility that heart disease was being caused by something else. Years later, the Seven Countries study’s lead Italian researcher, Alessandro Menotti, went back to the data, and found that the food that correlated most closely with deaths from heart disease was not saturated fat, but sugar.

The congressional committee responsible for the original Dietary Guidelines was chaired by Senator George McGovern. It took most of its evidence from America’s nutritional elite: men from a handful of prestigious universities, most of whom knew or worked with each other, all of whom agreed that fat was the problem – an assumption that McGovern and his fellow senators never seriously questioned. Only occasionally were they asked to reconsider. In 1973, John Yudkin was called from London to testify before the committee, and presented his alternative theory of heart disease.

A bemused McGovern asked Yudkin if he was really suggesting that a high fat intake was not a problem, and that cholesterol presented no danger.

“I believe both those things,” replied Yudkin.

“That is exactly the opposite of what my doctor told me,” said McGovern.

This makes scientific inquiry prone to the eternal rules of human social life: deference to the charismatic, herding towards majority opinion, punishment for deviance, and intense discomfort with admitting to error. Of course, such tendencies are precisely what the scientific method was invented to correct for, and over the long run, it does a good job of it. In the long run, however, we’re all dead, quite possibly sooner than we would be if we hadn’t been following a diet based on poor advice.

        • arn says:

It is obviously a conspiracy theory(according to griff) that MSM and politicians succefully surpressed the racist muslim new years mass rapes in Germany for 3 days
(and in the end they used cologne as a gambit but pushed the same rapes in Stuttgart and Salzburg under the rug)

The Phobos Cartell was also a conspiracy theory,
just as project gladio ,the manipulation of
          the Libor and PRISM spying.

And Seymour Hersh, probably the best journalist ever, always criticzed that obama got a free pass from the MSM for all his crimes and he suggested that 80% of all editors must be replaced to bring back real journalism.
It is also a conspiracy theory that all MSM outlets refused to publish his article “The red line and the rat line” that exposed Obama as a war mongerer trying to bomb syria using fake accusations.
Just as G W Bushs WMD lie to bomb iraq((though Bush was just exposed a few weeks before as “yellow cake” liar.

It is also a strange coiincidence that Den Haag is never accusing americans of war crimes.

      • Gator says:

Mental illness, the hallmark of the left, drives conspiracy theories. And the biggest of them all is that man made CO2 is killing the planet, and that oil companies and conservatives are funding “climate change denial”. This outlandish theory is now so pervasive that leaders of our communities are suing corporations for imagined damages, and the media parrots this nonsense ad nauseum. The left has bought into this fantasy hook, line, and sinker. And the left is starving millions to death as a result of this crazy BS.

As for the birther movement, you can thank Barry and Hillary for that one.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

“The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”

You say the Left is not driving it? Who then is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the audience applauding her catastrophic end-of-the-world bullshit?

Ms Griff, you are an idiot and a liar.

      • Mac says:

Barack Obama is the person who started the birther stuff. Nice try. Obama’s publicity firm claimed for years that he was born in Kenya. Obama did nothing to change it or stop it, so he must have approved of the statement that he was “born in Kenya, and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”

Hillary Clinton is actually the person (besides Obama himself) to spread the birther theory. She brought it up before Trump, during the 2008 campaign. She circulated a photo of Obama wearing rags on his head, and bed sheets, and claimed he wasn’t American-born. So, you see, you’re not telling the truth. Neither is The Guardian, which is nothing new for them.

      • spike55 says:

“No, this is out of control hysteria”

You describe AGW to a tee, griffool !

      • thurman zhou says:

Let’s do a comparison between a real science, astronomy ( it could be another one like chemistry or physics ) and climate science.
Climate Science has imagined all sorts of horrible things related to global warming. Not one has happened. Not even the supposed heat that should be enveloping the world. Lots of scientists and the lay community are not on board with the IPCC’s version of Climate Change. The math and data are paywalled and methods are hidden as proprietary.
Astronomy, predicts a lunar eclipse and it happens on time every time. Lots of lay and other scientists use the same data and math to confirm the predictions. Methods are known and the math is known. In fact, the lay scientists are instrumental in discovering new asteroids and bringing to the attention of professionals of something to look at.
Climate Change belittles, ridicules, cajoles, threatens, name calls anyone who disagrees.
Climate Change as defined by the IPCC is little more than a belief system to further an agenda.
In physics, when cold fusion was announced, there were many people looking at it. It wasn’t something secret or hidden. It was brought out into the open for all to confirm or prove wrong. Unlike Climate Change, research is still ongoing in cold fusion.
Years ago when the the psy or j particle was discovered, there wasn’t an outcry of trust us. No, here’s the data, confirm it. Or more recently the higgs boson, Or gravitational waves at LIGO
Climate Change goes so far as to keep changing the data, making up new stories to keep co2 global warming alive.
The overwhelming lack of being able to predict anything makes Climate Change a non science.
Chemistry, in every single case every reaction is known what the result would be. In fact Chemtech lamented that chemistry had reached a point where it was physics and philosophy. That’s a 97 % consensus, where everybody, from students to the most advanced researchers agree. You mix a given quantity of A with a given quantity of B you will get each and every time C.
Climate Change can’t do any of that…. not even when they delete stories or move the goalposts….
In electronics, the formulas are known, the gauge of the wire in circular mills, the material, the length, and there will be this resistance. Not a maybe, not a someday.
Climate Change people say that only Climate Change people know anything about the scientific method. I say they don’t and the fact that every single prediction has failed and that is the basis of science, prediction. That separates belief from science. God can step in and stop the earth for 3 days, that’s belief. If it’s science, show me how that’s done. Climate Change has failed to do that. I’ve looked at the math, and it’s wrong… ( not the arithmetic, the math ) . To make matters worse co2 follows temperature and that is something that will have to be addressed.

        • Anon says:

/In physics, when cold fusion was announced, there were many people looking at it. It wasn’t something secret or hidden. It was brought out into the open for all to confirm or prove wrong./

And Pons & Fleischmann’s reputations were irreparably damaged when their conclusions did not bear up. In Climate Science, if you make a claim or prediction that is proved wrong, there is nothing more than a pat on the back and a return to BAU.

        • R Shearer says:

t zhou, as a chemist, I appreciate your comments on chemistry, however, I would say that there are complex reactions that aren’t so predictable. In those cases, there is the possibility to form competing products through more than one mechanism, which is often controlled by kinetics rather than thermodynamics. Catalyzed reactions are notoriously tricky. Of course one desires repeatability, high yields and high selectivity.

If you’ve ever made a fermented beverage, you will appreciate that the exact same ingredients can react differently.

Well summer 2018 was certainly a ‘proper scorcher’. and my son’s friends who climb in Snowdonia every year tell me that the last couple of decades have certainly seen less snow than in the latter part of the 20th century.

your part of the world is insulated from climate change in a way that the Atlantic facing UK isn’t.

    • Al Shelton says:

The latter part of the 20th century???
That was over 20 years ago.
      Griff……….How about today?

      Well Griff-
How old is your son(s friend)?

I would not be surprised to hear that (s)he(i won’t assume gender)
has no clue how it looked there in the latter part of the 20th century,
because too young/never been there in the last century
and Mandelas Effect as result of perma AGW BS+virtue signalling has kicked in.

      How old is that person?

    • mwhite says:

Snowdon becomes snow free every summer. It’s very difficult to find summer snow on the ground in the UK unless you go to the Scottish Highlands.

Winter on the other hand is a different matter. Even if it doesn’t snow you get freezing rain.

    • Gator says:

your part of the world is insulated from climate change in a way that the Atlantic facing UK isn’t.

Right! That’s why we have had repeated ice ages and interglacials, because our part of the world is insulated from climate change in a way that the UK isn’t.

      (Cue the Twilight Zone theme…)

Is it your mental illness that causes you to hate poor brown people Ms Griff, or is it purely your ignorance?

      • arn says:

I still wonder what causes the insulation?

What is so special in the USA that defies global warming?
Especially as it was the USA where global warming was invented(as the ice age scare, gay marriage+worship,
trillions of genders, that islam is the religion of peace,
hate crime&speech and almost all other modern progressive globalist scourges of mankind)
& the USA is the only place with a reliable temp. and weather record for 100 years +.

In fact continental climate is shifting far more between extremes than the moderate sea climate that surrounds islands like britain and therefore should suffer from more extreme effects.

    • Robert Austin says:

      Ever heard of the AMO?

    • Mr GrimNasty says:

Summer 2018 was significantly cooler 3/4C than 1976 by any reliable thermometers for England (CET) – and even they are not adequatly adjusted down for landscape changes any more.

And 2018 as a year was the same as 1949 (CET).

In recently years Scotland has recorded record numbers of surviving snow patches in summer, as well as years where the last/oldest was expected to melt. So what – it’s called natural variability.

    • Hivemind says:

” summer 2018 was certainly a ‘proper scorcher’.”

No, it wasn’t. In Australia, the media have been flapping their gums over 40 degree temperatures as if they were the hottest ever. But the BOM has concealed and falsified older temperatures. The genuinely extreme heatwave of 1896 with over 50 degree temperatures, for example.

    • Hivemind says:

“summer 2018 was certainly a ‘proper scorcher’.”

No, it wasn’t. In Australia, the media are flapping their gums over what they call extreme heat which barely reached 40 degrees on a few days. But the BOM concealed and falsified older temperatures to call it a record. Look at the genuinely extreme heatwave of 1896, for example.

    • Gator says:

The “scientists” have been at least as wrong as the headline. None of their doomer predictions have come to pass. The “headline writer” did not invent climate alarmism, “scientists” did.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

The “scientists” are just as complicit as sensationalist “headline writers”. One only needs to compare their press releases and abstracts to the content of their papers to see that.

    • arn says:

You are the one following the cult of apocalyptic hyperbole.
You had no problems with all the failed predictions.
That visible sea level rise has proven Michael Mann and all official supermeltings in Greenland,Antarctica etc completely wrong incl. the theory that the oceans absorbed all the AGW Heat(average ocean depth 1500 meters, heat increases volume=a very significant sea level rise is mandatory).

Then you have an idiot like Jeff Koenig claiming that AGW deniers are about to kill 7 billion people((with 0 evidence to back up his bold claims as usual)).
Than you have carreers of scientists ruined because they refused to believe in politically correct science.

      Latest victim:
Noble Laureate James Watson, father of the DNA Helix, was stripped a few days ago of his honorary titles because he refuse to ignore the evidence of the bell curve in IQ related terms.
One of these racist”realities that does not fit into the official buttkissing PC reality for slimey buttkissers.

And you really dare complain about a little bit hyperbole while defending a science that would have died long time ago without superbole?
What makes you believe that your side is the only one to be allowed to do this.

There is no hope for people like you ,no matter how religious you are,
that there is a place in heaven for hypocrits and double standards.

Happy next 30 years with no visible sea level rise,no drowned islands,no extinct polare bears,no underwater manhattan& maledives
and an arctic the same size as it is now.
But maybe the 92 underwater volcanos in the antarctic get a bit more active so that there is a significant icemelt there ,just enough to feed your fears and illusions.
